Chapter 1:

Awakening

From Human to Fangs

If one could describe death,I would say painful. Not because physical pain but the mental anguish. All the lists incomplete, all the things you wanted to do but couldn't, and all the stuff you did that lead you up to the point you want to kick yourself for. In my mind I had fear because I was fired. I am the hardest worker but that didn't matter. Ai.  would take my job, maybe the whole department all to make a better bottom line.

I opened my eyes. It was all dark. It hurt like something got in my eyes. I closed my eyes feeling tears trying to well in them but nothing.

My head was still spinning I couldn't tell if it was because of the dehydration, my stress from before I woke up here, or if the dirt made my lungs suffocate. I clawed upwards trying to get myself some air. It took me a minute but felt like forever to clear enough dirt to breathe air.

When I could gather breath without dirt, I dug so my eyes could see. I opened my eyes. I then looked it was dark like it was night time. I then started moving more and tried to kick my legs. They were bound by something. I kept digging dirt away from me until I could at least sit up.

I then took a good look. I was in a graveyard. I looked to see no grave. I knew I didn't feel a coffin so I held back a shudder at the thoughts.  I looked and saw no church leading me to believe I was on a family plot.

I undug my legs. They were wrapped tightly in a white fabric with a string tied around at my waist. Rather than untie and maybe be naked, I looked at my pale hands and longer than before nails. I used both hands to rip it into a make shift skirt.

I stood up painfully aware of my thirst and how much my body was different. It was a bit disorienting . My legs were the same hight but my chest felt different, like it was bigger and my waist smaller with more curves.   My stomach also seemed flat but not caved in. I walked stumbling and tripping at first.

After I got the hang of it, I started running and saw a bat. I lunged for it and caught it like one catches a butterfly. I heard a fast little drum. No not a drum it was the little thing's heart beat.

I pet it feeling it's fur with my thumb and before I knew it, I was opening my mouth and bit it's head off.  I felt the warm gush of blood and swallowed it like one does water and then I felt a rush of energy and a red glow went around me. Then I squeezed it until the last drop of blood reached my throat.

I was revolted at how good it felt and tasted. My headache was gone though. I begrudgingly accepted it. My eyes seemed to see better or there was some fog lifted either way, I could see some ruins out in the distance.
