Chapter 46:

An Inherited Story

The Devourer of Destiny

A moment before the natural phenomenon occurred.

Somewhere in the Eastern Region, a frail old man willingly climbed a ladder to retrieve a book from a library. His trembling body held steady, his short legs standing firmly on the large rungs.

"Once upon a time, someone was born from the hopes of many people across various worlds. One of these was the Sky World."

As he searched for a book among the shelves, he told a story to a man who was sitting calmly in his chair.

This is the story of someone born from the hopes of all people. To live, to have fun, to feel happiness, and to see beautiful things.

He wasn't born from a mother's womb, but from the womb of this world. His arrival was a sign, the beginning of a decrepit world being built into something slightly more beautiful.

He was born with a positive energy and a charming appearance, like a god. However, he looked more like a human man, a boy who wanted to learn everything and then teach it to everyone in this world. This made him seem like a divine messenger.

"When everyone had received knowledge and all kinds of things from him, which seemed to take away the rest of the boy's life, they were not satisfied enough."

The old man then stopped speaking for a moment, turned his head back, and gave a cynical look to the man who was still sitting there.

"Good grief, youngsters these days," he muttered.

He then resumed searching for his book while continuing his story.

"Not satisfied with many things, some people felt they wanted to possess him. Some others even felt the boy was dangerous and wanted to kill him," the old man said.

A brown-covered book he was about to take fell to the floor. Very carefully, he climbed down the ladder and quickly picked up the fallen book. Before opening it, he wiped off the dust so the title written on the cover could be seen more clearly.

"He is the heart of the world, he is a life of great significance to this world. He is like a god, or perhaps a god. If he dies, this world will be destroyed again."

The younger-looking man then approached, and as he took the book

from him, he smiled and said thanks.

"How do you know stories like this?" the man asked.

"This has been passed down by my ancestors. I am preserving it so that the story remains whole."

"But from what I know, besides being born from the world's womb, the one who is here now was born from a mother's womb."

"Is that so? I never knew that. Except about his repeated deaths."

"That's right. He once admitted to being from another place and said he had a family. He plans to go home. Funny, isn't it?"

He opened the brown-covered book titled "Eden." It had thick pages with a lot of writing and several illustrations that matched the old man's story.

"Lord Eden doesn't have a family."

"I know that. He was born from people's hopes, how could he have a family?"

"But... he looks like a human. If he has a family, it means there will be a change in this heart."

After saying that figure had no family, the old man now thought it might not be wrong for that figure to have a family. He emphasized there would be a change in the heart, which he meant was this "Sky World."

The young man thought, "Do you mean this time he will die? Truly die?"

"I don't know." The old man found it difficult to answer, then took the book and sat in a chair while picking up a pen.

The young man rushed over to him and asked, "If he dies, this world will be destroyed, you said. However, he has died repeatedly but still comes back to life. Has the destruction already begun a long time ago?"

"No one can kill him. Even if he dies but nothing happens in this world, it means he will return someday."

"The person I know is the second sinner for the inhabitants of the Upper Realm. He is hunted because of the fear that he will destroy the world, including this world."

"Nonsense!" the old man retorted loudly, slamming his hand on the table. "Lord Eden will not destroy this world. Who told you that nonsense?" he added, staring sharply.

The young man chuckled slightly at his reaction.

"Why are you laughing?!"

"Forgive me, Mr. Librarian. I'm just stating a fact I've recently heard from random people."

"Who are you, really?"

"I'm just a prophet cast out from the Upper Realm. I live in a place that can go anywhere, Night City," he said bluntly.
The old man was silent for a moment before he realized who the young man in front of him was.

"You are the one who stands on Lord Eden's side?!" he shouted in surprise.

"You could say that... but I haven't been out for a long time. It turns out there are still people who believe that Eden's existence is a blessing."

"Does he really have a family now? Where is he?! Has he been resurrected?"

The young man only shook his head, unable to answer two of the three questions asked.

"I only heard from his own mouth that he has a family waiting for him to come home. His name has even changed."

At that moment, the sky turned red. All eyes were on the unique and frightening phenomenon. The prophet from Night City realized that the resurrection of the  Devourer Destiny had begun.

"Mr. Librarian, thank you for telling me all about Eden the Devourer Destiny."

"Besides, why don't you know anything about him?"

"That's because I've been busy avoiding being tracked by the Upper Realm, which is also hunting me. I've been hiding in Night City," he revealed as he walked out of the library.

The deep change in the atmosphere was felt by all living things. Mahendra, who was forced to be half-resurrected, now had to bear the pain from dozens of stabs from the white feathers.

A figure known as divine by some and also known as the second sinner by those who felt they were wronged. He will truly be resurrected, as usual, but this time there is a slight difference.

"The one who couldn't quite understand human feelings now lives as a complete human. I wonder how he's doing?"

The cast-out Seer, who lived in Night City, finally decided to leave his lair and intended to meet the Devourer Destiny.
