Chapter 5:

A New Leaf

Putting myself first before anything else.

If anything, it is true that getting back to Earth might be wishful thinking but if there is a way then I’ll fight for it no matter what.

Even if I’m hesitant to tell another person about who I am, Elisa assured me that I can trust this girl and that alone is enough reassurance for me.

It was nice to sleep in for a change, after some time I had gotten changed into some new clothes and walked toward the garden. Elisa was the first one standing by the tree waiting for everyone to show.

“Elisa,” I waved my hand so I could get her attention.

“I take it Rosalea isn’t here yet?”

She shook her head,

“No, not yet. but she should be here soon”

I thought I was seeing things for a moment once I turned my head—it looks like Rosalea had dressed up like a knight. She certainly has a way of making an impression I'll give her that.

“Sorry about taking so long—” Apologized Rosalea.

Her hair was the color of a golden sun, her eyes were much like the color of amber, her hair was curled into two long twin tails. And the rest of her hair went down to her waist.

"I hope I wasn't too late—”

“Elisa told me a bit about you,"

I didn't know whether to take that as something ominous or carefree, it was hard to tell from the way she said it—a sort of ambiguous tone about the way she spoke.

"It wouldn't be the first time Elisa talked about you. How you're always complaining, you never apologize when apologies are due and most of all she said that you don't seem to treat her right whatsoever—"

Huh? —

“You’ve been going out for some time now and—"

No matter how I try to piece it , is what she says true?—that somehow I was her boyfriend and she is I mean was my girlfriend—I hardly know her...if that's true I can't imagine how she must feel knowing all that I said, she had to bear with the truth.

The relationship we have is only a friendship and I’m sure that it must be bothering her more then I can understand. Elisa’s cheeks became as red as a ripe pomegranate, but at the same time a look of unending sadness I could see in her eyes.

I felt sorry for everything. For the person I could no longer come to be. No wonder she wanted to believe that I was joking about all of this.

"That’s enough, Rosalea" She raised her voice for a moment.

"I should've told you sooner...,”.

"But I must accept this for what it is, not what I want but for what it is, “Elisa had said.

"Did I say something so wrong?" Rosalea had asked.

"Forgive me, Rosalea—you don't know yet why I feel the way I do"

"There’s a good reason as to why I wanted you to meet Leon, Rosalea"

"I think we should all sit down for this," I added.

And so, we sat against the tree, where no one could hear our conversation.

"There’s something you should know about Leon"

"I am not that Leon that you heard of—I come from another world, and I’ve taken the body of Leon—"

"How is that even possible?” said Rosalea.

"It has to be true. I feel it in my heart that this is a different person from the Leon I know,” said Elisa.

"I don't know why you believe such a thing, I've never heard such a story before," Rosalea was having a hard time believing even with Elisa’s story.

"Rosalea, I know you've only heard my stories about Leon, and most of it were my complaints but I didn't ask you to meet Leon for this reason alone"

“Like me—Leon has been exiled here by his family. We came up with an idea—that I’d teach him magic and in exchange he’d be a spy—even though you were dismissed as a knight, could you be our unofficial bodyguard?”

“Really? —I didn’t think you would ever want me to be your bodyguard again”

“That’s in the past, Rosalea—and this is much more important”

And so the plan was set into motion—Elisa would gain as much preparation knowledge as she could, seeing as there still were more than a months time left of her magic class till their was a break, Elisa had ample time to learn herself the ins and outs of deciphering magic and how to use magic when it hasn’t yet manifest.

We parted ways and I spent some time walking through the Cathedral and seeing for myself every place that it had to offer. Everyone seemed to have no time to waste in the morning, people scurried like worker ants too busy to say hello or good morning.

If anything I have a feeling that this Rosalea girl would do anything for Elisa—she must've seriously made a mistake in the past that she wants to make up for, the reason as to why she was fired from being her personal guard—I wonder what that could be.

I went back to my room and got out my journal, the anticipation in me wanted to see if ti would happen again—

flip....

flip....

And there it was, once again—the pages rematerialized and I read out what was written on the page:

I keep on telling myself these lies so that it could become true.

Just what does that mean?

I knew I had to piece all these sayings together one day so that it might make more sense if it was read in  sequence.

I closed the journal and instead of hiding it, I feel the safest place is to carry it with me. I left my room and walked the halls, the light pouring in through the stained glass windows so bright its almost blinding.

I came up to the entrance, admiring the statues set before the door.

I felt a tug on my arm, pulling me forward.

“You’re coming with me—"
