Chapter 61:

Under the Crimson Moon’s Shadow

ATHOMIS - A HACKER'S JORNEY INTO ANOTHER WORLD

The coliseum of darkness, bathed in the oppressive glow of the great crimson moon, was a battlefield where the air itself seemed to conspire against the heroes. The cracked obsidian floor trembled with each impact, while the shadows of the demons—Iragor, Gulthar, Avaron, Slothar, Lustara, and Envyra—danced under the bloody light, their monstrous forms exuding a corruptive energy that weighed on the heroes. In the arena’s center, Kaelith, Zeryn, Elara, Thorne, Mira, and Draven fought with all their strength, but the demons, empowered by the Corruptor’s dimension, held the upper hand, their abilities amplified by the crimson moon. The tension was palpable, and the heroes, pushed to their limits, were forced to unleash their ultimate abilities, igniting the coliseum with a spectacle of power, yet still struggling against the tide of corruption.Kaelith and Thorne vs. Iragor and GultharKaelith, his scarlet armor smoldering, faced Iragor, Wrath, whose brute strength seemed inexhaustible. The demon’s flaming claws slashed the air, each strike sending heatwaves that cracked the obsidian floor. Kaelith blocked with the Blade of Wrath, but the impact forced him back, his arms trembling. “You’re weak, hero!” Iragor roared, his horns glowing with crimson energy. Beside him, Thorne battled Gulthar, Gluttony, whose multiple mouths tried to swallow the Hammer of the Eon. The demon gurgled, spitting acid that corroded the ground: “Your iron is my feast!” Thorne spun his hammer, but each blow only seemed to fuel Gulthar’s hunger. They’re stronger here… the moon empowers them, Kaelith thought, panting, as Thorne growled: “This doesn’t end here!” Feeling the pressure, Kaelith shouted: “Enough! Eternal Inferno’s Fury!”, activating his ultimate ability. His armor erupted in infernal flames, turning him into a living pillar of fire, scorching the air around him. He charged Iragor, the Blade of Wrath now a magma spear, forcing the demon back with a roar of pain. Thorne, inspired, bellowed: “Primordial Chaos Forge!”, his hammer glowing with golden runes, each strike unleashing seismic waves that cracked the ground, pushing Gulthar back. Despite the counterattack, the demons endured, laughing as the crimson moon pulsed, regenerating their wounds.Zeryn and Elara vs. Envyra and SlotharZeryn and Elara faced Envyra, Envy, and Slothar, Sloth, in an exhausting mental and physical battle. Envyra cast envy spells, whispers trying to make Zeryn doubt herself: “You’ll never be as strong as Athos!” Zeryn countered with the Arcane Tome, summoning astral mirrors to reflect the spells, but the crimson moon’s energy made Envyra’s attacks faster, more piercing. Slothar, with his gray slime, spread a torpor aura, slowing Elara’s movements as if time itself dragged her down. “Sleep, forest girl,” Slothar yawned, his slime encircling Elara. They’re draining us… the moon gives them power, Zeryn thought, sweat dripping from her brow. Elara, her Scepter of Life trembling, shouted: “I won’t fall! Eternal Life’s Bloom!”, activating her ultimate ability. A green energy explosion erupted, living vines sprouting from the ground, trapping Slothar in a pulsing root net. Zeryn, taking a deep breath, yelled: “Stellar Eclipse!”, her Arcane Tome glowing, summoning a meteor shower of stellar energy that bombarded Envyra, forcing her back. But the demons, sustained by the moon, regenerated, their eyes gleaming with malice.Mira and Draven vs. Avaron and LustaraMira and Draven faced Avaron, Greed, and Lustara, Lust, in a fight where every move seemed anticipated. Avaron summoned golden chains to steal the Trident of the Tide, her golden skin reflecting the crimson light, making her nearly untouchable. “All this will be mine!” Avaron laughed, her chains tightening around Mira. Lustara, with her purple form, cast seductive whispers at Draven, trying to bend his mind: “Surrender, necromancer… you want this.” Draven slashed the air with the Shadow Reaper, but the moon’s influence amplified Lustara’s charms, turning his resistance into an internal battle. They’re faster, stronger… the moon protects them, Mira thought, as Draven clenched his teeth: I won’t yield. Mira, with a shout, activated her ultimate ability: “Abyssal Tide!”, summoning a colossal wave of black water that engulfed Avaron’s chains, forcing her back. Draven, with cold eyes, yelled: “Void’s Harvest!”, his Shadow Reaper releasing a spectral mist that enveloped Lustara, draining her energy. Despite the impact, the demons rose again, the crimson moon pulsing with energy that restored them. The heroes, even with their ultimate abilities, felt the weight of the disadvantage. The crimson moon seemed to mock them, its light intensifying the demons’ strength. Kaelith panted, his flames weakening; Thorne felt his arms grow heavy; Zeryn struggled to maintain her runes; Elara felt corruption invade her scepter; Mira battled exhaustion; and Draven resisted Lustara’s seduction. Amid the chaos, the Corruptor’s voice echoed, cold and distant: “You fight well, but the stage is mine.” The heroes, pushed to their limits, knew they needed something more to turn the tide—or the Corruptor’s dimension would consume them.
