Chapter 5:

Hymn of Healing

One Wish

“Princess Nashjar, are you ready?” Priestess Varijar spoke with a soft tone.

“Not yet…” I responded, still wiping tears off my cheeks. “I need a few moments to compose myself.”

I was still shaken after finding out that my dreams were reality. That my true love is somewhere out there, searching for me. I needed some time to process this, so I tried to calm myself down, sitting at the center of the room.

Some time has passed, and my mind became clearer. I had a duty to take, and people to save…

“I’m ready now!” I turned to priestess Varijar.

“Perfect!” She smiled. “All you have to do is follow what I say. Understood?”

“Yes!”

“Then let us begin.”

Priestess Varijar then instructed me to stay still in the center with my eyes closed. A loud bell rang thrice as I heard the door open following the ringing.

I couldn’t really tell, but from the sounds of it, a lot of people walked inside the room.

All of their voices started quietly chanting, their tone increasing with every new line. “From darkness to light, we call her name, from sorrow to strength, we mend her flame.” Their voices sweet, soft, angelic, and in unison.

Soon afterwards, I smelled a sweet smell of incense. Almost earthy-like. “By breath of earth and tear of sky, let her spirit awaken, let her power fly.” As I felt soft touches of water droplets, gently touching all of my body.

Child of healing, vessel of grace, rise as a priestess, in this sacred place!

With those words, my feet left the ground. I felt as though I was softly levitating above the ground. Even with my eyes closed, I saw a spectacle of light. Beautiful reds, whites, yellows, and greens. Magic was all-encompassing as I felt its flow through me.

Soon, my feet touched the ground again, and the light spectacle disappeared. I heard a lot of steps, and after them, the sound of the door closing.

“Open your eyes… Priestess Nashjar.” Said Varijar.

As I opened them, I saw the smiling priestess before me. I felt the same as before, yet magically different.

“Follow me, deary.” She spoke softly, extending her hand for me to take.

We held hands as we walked out of the room, back to the main area where the priestesses were chanting. “Blessed be the healer’s hand, blessed be thy soul’s command!

As we then walked outside the temple, standing at the top of the stairs in front of the entrance, crowds gathered beneath. My Father then walked to me, took my hand as I released Varijar’s, and spoke with his rumbling voice.

“Let us bear witness: Princess Nashjar, born of our blood and blessed by our gods, now became a priestess! May her hands heal and her heart guide us all!”

The crowd cheered in exuberance. Their faces all lit up with happiness and excitement!

I waved at them with my other hand, softly smiling. My mind full of prayer and hope for them, as I shall be their new beacon of light.

But… In the corner of my mind, there was still something… Someone, I mustn’t forget…
