Chapter 22:
Sanctum of Life
Chapter 22 the Rise of Blightess
I
Inside an nearly empty realm composed only of almost pure blackness stood Aislina and Blightess. The place where Blightess dwelled used to be a murky forest. However, the forest was becoming murkier and murkier day by day and finally, it was drawn into pure murkiness and silence.
There were ruptures on the abstract space of this realm. It was hard to describe what those ruptures looked like, because those ruptures only existed in four- dimensional world, and what it cast in the normal three-dimensional world was some abnormal phenomena, like some non-Euclidean structures which could be found on the blurry stone and some twisted light which didn’t follow the physical rule at all.
Anyway, this was a mental world, so all those abnormal stuff inside it were normal.
“ᛡᛂĬ,ᛆᛁᛌᛚᛁᚿᛆ,ᛚᛅᚿᚵᛂ ᛌᛂᚿ,” [Hello, Aislina, long time no see,] greeted Blightess.
“ᛚᛆᛆᛐ ᛉᛁᚵ ᚡᛆᚱᛆ,ᛒᛚᛂᚴᚿᛆᛐ,” [Leave me alone, Blightess,] breathed Aislina.

After all, this place is your mental world, and I am here because you need me subconsciously. By the way, do you know that sometimes power comes from emotion, Aislina?] questioned Blightess, smiled.
“Ĭᛆᚵ ᚴᛅᚿᚿᛆᚱ,” [I know, ] purred Aislina.

When her voice broke off, the surroundings commenced to shake drastically as if this empty realm were about to collapse into ruins. Blue phosphorescent fire started to burn in this realm and Aislina could smell the scent of decaying and death emanated by those ghastly flames.

You shall make your decision fast, or this place, your mental world, will be burnt into ember by the ghost fire of Master Mortis, and so will your beloved friends, ] threatened Blightess.
II
Aislina was burning, wrapped in the demonic fire conjured by Master Mortis. She was devoured by Master Mortis’ magic, but her friends couldn’t help at all, because both Master Mortis and Aislina were too powerful.
While they were watching Aislina burning and dying helplessly, something strange happened. Aislina’s hair and eyes were reddening, turning into a dark scarlet colour while her skin was turning vampirically grey. Grey vines commenced to grow around her, which put out the ghost fire of Master Mortis gradually.
Those vines kept growing and finally, it wrapped Aislina whole and formed a giant humanoid which looked like a withered version of Sylvana.
“Blightess, that’s Blightess!” exclaimed Yanni in panic.
“Who the hell are you?” demanded Master Mortis.
“I am Blightess, the demigoddess of the forest, the Creator of Elves. Known as Sylvana, I have existed since the dawn of the world,” answered Blightess.
“So I am fighting with some sort of magical entity, ain’t I? That’s exciting!” smirked Master Mortis.
“You will not win me, because inside me lives thousands of mourning souls killed by your factory. They’re lamenting and powering me, making me unimaginably powerful. I am the wrath of the forest and I am the agent of the power of Life. You’ve brought a bloody apocalypse to my world and I will bring a doom to yours,” warned Blightess.
“Although I am not as old as you, I’ve already figured out the most significant rule of this cosmos. You cannot stop the tide of history, no matter what you are and how powerful you are. The world was born chaotic, and its destination was civilization,” sneezed Master Mortis.
The whole building was shaking and the bones that belonged to those skeletons were turning into blue balls of fire. Those fire balls flew towards the new vessel of Master Mortis and merged into it, making him taller and big.
Those materialized shadow that composed Master Sophus’ body was spreading and soon Master Sophus was as tall as Blightess.
“Run!” Blightess shouted to Starsha, Floria and Yanni.
They commenced to run. The building was collapsing, the ceiling of which was cracking and turning into falling stones. The ground was trembling, shaken by the energy produced by the fight between those two dark entities.
What was worse, the temperature inside the building was rising up and without a shadow of doubt, those heat wave was coming from the core of the mountain.
Obviously, the fight between Blightess and Master Mortis had released too much energy, awakened by which, Infernal Mountain, as a volcano, was going to erupt. Soon, the lava of Infernal Mountain would devour the everything because it was the most destructive power on this earth.
The siblings and Starsha had escaped the building and the instant they stepped out of the building, it collapsed and turned into a pile of ruins. However, running out of the building was only the first step of their exodus. The volcano was about to erupt, which would bring a cataclysm to this mountain within minutes.
Clearly, it was impossible for them to escape the mountain before the eruption of this volcano. They would die swallowed by scorching lava. At this very moment, an idea flashed into Floria’s head.
“The necroplane! We could drive the necroplane to fly away from this mountain!” exclaimed Floria.
“We cannot abandon Aislina, sis!” argued Yanni.
“Aislina is a powerful girl, and she will survive it, I promise,” Floria reassured him.
“Floria was right, Aislina had turned into Blightess right now and she was unbelievably powerful at the moment,” agreed Starsha.
Floria took out an arrow and connected it with her bow using a rope. After that, she shot an arrow towards necroplane.
“All right, hug me, you two!” commanded Floria.
Starsha and Yanni hugged Floria tightly and after the button on the rope was clicked, it contracted, raising the three all the way up towards the necroplane.
After entering the necroplane, the three started to observe the inner structure of the necroplane and soon, they found out where the cockpit was .
“I would never imagine that one day we would drive a necroplane!” muttered Yanni.
“Life is full of uncertainty, Yanni,” murmured Starsha.
Floria sat in the driver’s seat. Luckily, all the levers and buttons were labelled so it would not be very difficult for her to learn how to drive the necroplane though she was totally foreign to it.
Soaring into the air, the necroplane flew away from Infernal Mountain. After one minute, the volcano erupted. The peak of Infernal Mountain was blasted by the heat waves within into the pieces and replaced by a murky hole serving as the crater, from which molten rocks were streaming out.
In fact, the eruption of a volcano was one of the most splendid wonders that could be seen in this world. The lava was spreading and washing the mountain, destroying everything that touched it. If they didn’t go on the necroplane, they had already been swallowed and turned to cremains by that lava.
Soon, the whole area was swallowed by lava and turned into a lake filled by molten rocks. Suddenly, due to unknown reason, maybe lacking fuel, the necroplane commenced to fall.
Floria, Yanni and Starsha began to scream but there was nothing they could do since they almost knew nothing about the necroplane produced by the Grey Factory. Luckily, it didn’t fall into the lava. Instead, it fell to the bank of the newborn lava lake.
They limped out of the necroplane. After all these events, they were extremely tired. The ground was scorching heat by the lava in the lake, so they sat down on the remain of the necroplane and began to rest.
Carried by hot winds, those heat waves from the lava lake were sweeping the whole area, turning it into an oven. Unstoppable sweats were streaming on the surface of the skin of the four.
Scorched by the lava, the colour of the ground had been turned into a weird colour between black and brown. Most plants on the ground had been burnt to ashes by the extreme temperature, but there were still some grasses and flowers trying to survive in this horrible disaster, though they would die inevitably.
Nothing on this earth was match for the primal power that had existed since the dawn of the earth. The surface of the earth was just a small meaningless part of it, and inside the earth there was a vaster world where the great powers lurked …
“Is Aislina still alive?” questioned Yanni, his face brimming with concern.
“I don’t know. May the power of Life bless her…” purred Floria.
After about five minutes, Floria heard some strange voices.
“Did you hear that?” asked Floria.
“Yep,” Starsha nodded.
“What did you two hear?” queried Yanni.
“Shh! Quiet! Yanni!” complaint Starsha.
“I know where those sounds come from. Follow me!” commanded Floria.
Floria ran towards the source of the sounds she heard while Yanni and Starsha followed her.
Soon, two gigantic figures in the distance came into their sights. To their surprise, those two figures were in fact Master Mortis and Blightess!
Both Master Mortis and Blightess were approximately 6 meters tall. When they two fought, the whole world was trembling because of their marvellous power. However, both of them seemed small and weak compared to the lava lake beside them …
Clearly, Master Mortis had gained the upper hand, and Blightess was about to lose.
Loading her bow, Floria aimed at the eye of Master Mortis. Though Master Mortis was now a huge shadowy humanoid, his head still looked like a skull so Floria could figure out where his eyes were. No matter how strong a creature or entity was, the eyes were always its vulnerable weakness.
Obviously, both Master Mortis and Blightess were fully absorbed in their epic fight, and thus both of them hadn’t noticed the approach of Starsha and the siblings.
Floria unbent her finger and the arrow flew towards the right eye of Master Mortis. When his eye was shot, Master Mortis groaned and screamed. Though without doubt, Master Mortis could recover fairly quickly due to his wicked power, the aid of Floria still bought enough time for Blightess to fight back.
Blightess clutched the neck of Master Mortis with right hand and tried to pull the Cube of Necrus out of Master Mortis’ body with her left hand.
“No, it’s impossible. I won’t lose … I am the civilization … I am necrology … It’s impossible!” screamed Master Mortis.
Soon, the whole Cube of Necrus was pulled out of Master Mortis’ chest by the all-mighty Blightess and the latter threw the cube into the lava.
Even the strongest entity in this world was nothing compared to the power of lava, because the power of fire elemental originated from the birth of the earth. Drowned in the molten rocks, the Cube of Necrus was crying and screaming with eerie twisted sounds beyond description.
After ten seconds, that wicked cube was swallowed by the lava whole. Without doubt, there would be no Cube of Necrus in this world anymore …
Without the Cube of Necrus, Master Mortis commenced to decompose, with the shadowy material that comprised him fading away gradually. Roaring in insanity, he wrapped the whole of Blightess in the form of shapeless shadows, which was reacting drastically.
Now, the Cube of Necrus had been destroyed, and the world became silent, horribly silent …
“Aislina …” Yanni lowered his head.
However, Blightess ignored her and walked away.
“Farewell,” she murmured , indifferently turning away.
“Hey, where are you going?” questioned Yanni.
“Humans are destroying this world and the world will be a better place without them. I am going to decimate the human beings. You three are too weak to stop me, so give up,” the elf answered, ignoring Floria and continued walking away.
“Wait, Aislina! Stop!” Yanni called to her.
Finally, Blightess turned back and stared emotionlessly at Yanni.
