Chapter 31:
Second Luck
After Shen's persistent search lasted for several minutes, all that was left was a piece of fabric. When he limped into the war room, where the admirals were, there was chaos. There were a lot of reports, people yelled orders, and voices came from all over.
Shen stopped to look around the room, focusing on one wall in particular. There was another magnetic device there that he had seen before, but it was almost impossible to see. His voice was calm but strong, and his brow furrowed a little as he spoke.
He pointed to the magnets that were almost invisible and said, "I saw something about the system on that wall."Someone has set up a complicated process. There are magnets all over the pyramid.
The three admirals looked at the wall first. They started to feel a little uneasy as they looked over the places Shen had pointed out.
"What exactly are you suggesting?" One admiral took a step toward Shen and asked.
Shen paused for a moment to think before giving a thoughtful answer. The point of this setup was to change the direction of bullets in the air. I think that a weapon made by Republicans may have been used. The magnets help hit a target without being seen by guiding the bullets along precise paths. But because so many magnets are changing the path of the projectile, it's almost impossible to guess where it will hit.
One of the admirals stepped forward before Shen could finish. His voice was heavy with authority, and his face was sad. "Commander, one of those bullets hit the King."
The room went quiet right away. Shen stopped, as if time had stopped, and then he pulled himself together and asked important questions.
What's wrong with him? How serious is it? He looked worried with his eyebrows furrowed.
The admiral took a moment to think before answering in a calm but serious voice. He got hit in the shoulder. His health is stable, and there is no immediate danger to his life. He is being watched closely, though, and has been told to take it easy.
Shen was glad to hear this, but he still had a lot of questions that needed to be answered. It was very important for many people, both common and royal, to find out the truth about this event.
General Geno Takeda, Shen's brother, interrupted the conversation. "The area is being watched and has been secured, but the suspect has not yet been found."
Shen stepped forward and spoke in a calm, steady voice. "The killer has managed to get away. It will be very hard to find them now.
The admiral asked Shen, "How do you know this?"
Shen looked at the wall and said, "I followed the trail of the magnets."I couldn't catch them, but I did see the way out. But there was still something there. Shen carefully took the piece of fabric out of his pocket and gave it to the admirals.
As he looked at the piece, General Takeda's fingers brushed over its surface, and his eyes narrowed. It was made of polyester and had a recognizable symbol on it. The admirals clearly knew what the emblem was, but Shen did not. Takeda stared at the design, and his face grew hard.
He began by pointing to the markings and saying, "This fabric is polyester, which rebels often wear during fights." It has a symbol that is not very common but is easy to recognize: that of senior Regalia agents. This person was not like most assassins.
Shen raised his head and talked to the admirals. He looked like he was thinking. It would have been impossible to carry out such a complicated plan on your own, especially at such a critical time. They either have a lot of people behind them or have been planning this for a long time.
Shen thought about the possibility of foreign intervention and hesitated. An admiral made a strong statement before he could make up his mind.
"Commander, you might be right, but making decisions without hard data could have terrible results. We need to be sure before we do anything.
These words made the room quiet for a short time, but Shen's mind was still racing with questions. He knew that a solution was needed, and that the most obvious thing to do was to look into Regalia directly. As an analytical commander, it was his job to find the truth.
Shen spoke firmly after taking a moment to think. He looked at his brother and said, "Admiral Geno." "Please let me finish this mission. I'll go to Regalia and find out who or what is to blame. Maybe this is just the start of the assassination attempt. If another country gets involved, there may already be a bigger plan in the works.
Geno gave his brother a sharp look and didn't say anything. He could see the fire in Shen's eyes and how determined he was. But the mission was dangerous, and it was hard to decide to put Shen in such a dangerous situation. Geno paused for a moment before continuing. His voice was a little shaky.
"This isn't a normal mission." Geno started, but he couldn't think straight.
Shen spoke up before Geno could finish, his voice steady. "Admiral, the King needs you here more than ever right now. The Republic needs to stay calm, at least until the public's trust is restored. The Kingdom needs stability. I'll handle this.
Geno sighed heavily after hearing what Shen said. He was no longer hesitant; instead, he reluctantly accepted. Another admiral spoke with conviction, breaking the silence.
"Yes, Geno, he is right. We need answers before things get worse. People expect results.
Geno turned to Shen and nodded slowly, as if he were serious. As he and his brother locked eyes, he said it strongly. Great. You will go to Regalia, but your only goal is to get information. Don't blame or make things worse until we have proof that is beyond a doubt. Let us know right away if you find anything. Do you understand?
Shen nodded. "Understood, Admiral."
This job was a big deal for Shen. Finding out the truth about the assassination attempt was very important for the Kingdom's safety.
