Chapter 51:

Rescue

Second Luck

The executioner was about to bring his axe down on Shen's neck when an arrow launched from far away hit the executioner's shoulder. He dropped the axe and yelled in pain as the crowd went crazy, trying to figure out what had occurred. When they rapidly looked in the direction of the arrow, screaming came from the opposite side. For a moment, the crowd was frozen in shock.

Shen knew at that moment that only the kingdom's soldiers could help.

Shen saw soldiers all over the pyramid. All of his comrades, the sergeant, the other officers, and all of the soldiers were running toward the pyramid at the same time. They had come to save Shen from his terrible circumstances. Their eyes were full of courage and resolve.
Shen's friends hadn't left him, and seeing this gave him a glimmer of hope.
The location quickly turned into a battlefield as the warriors fought the Republic's forces.

The warriors of the Republic promptly got ready to fight back. Their archers shot arrows, and their foot men waved swords and spears. The soldiers in the kingdom broke up into tiny groups, each of which was in charge of organizing shield formations and moving forward in tight, controlled steps. The square quickly turned into a bloody combat zone as arrows and swords clashed in the air. The audience, which was scared, ran away in a panic, going in all directions. Shen was chained up and couldn't do anything to stop the fight. He was angry that he couldn't help those who had come to save him. But he had to get out of the chains; otherwise, he would stay a burden in this mess.

Before Shen could fully understand what was going on, his brother Geno showed up on top of a huge train. The loud noise of metal hitting stone caught everyone's attention in the square. The train, which had gone off the tracks, was speeding toward the pyramid at an unbelievable pace. Shen couldn't believe how his brother had crashed such a big machine, but it was evident that Geno had a great plan even in the middle of this crazy combat. The train sped on, sending sparks flying from its grinding metal wheels and breaking up pieces of stone and rail. The locomotive hit the pyramid and fell over with a loud bang. The crash made things much more chaotic. Some Republic soldiers who were trying to regroup lost their balance and were thrown aside. Some people dove for cover and just barely missed the falling debris. The enemy soldiers fell over and lost their equilibrium, and Geno jumped from the train and into the fight.

Geno pulled out his sword and killed the enemies in front of him in seconds. He dodged the soldiers' thrusts by weaving in and out of them and quickly moving his feet to avoid spears and swords. He slashed or stabbed with amazing accuracy every time he got the chance. He moved over the battlefield like a tornado, and every blow was deadly and accurate. A soldier tried to stop Geno with a hard, vertical slash. Geno turned around and blocked the blade with his own sword. Then he drove his knee into the soldier's chest, knocking him down. A different soldier came at him from the side, but Geno blocked it to the left and then hit back with a quick diagonal cut that left his opponent unarmed and on the ground. President Tetelyus was scared when he saw the warriors of the kingdom. He rapidly ran into the pyramid with the quiet Republic Champion by his side. Before he left, he turned around and yelled fiercely at his troops.

"Kill them all!" The President ordered, his voice a mix of anger and fear.

The Republic soldiers attacked Shen and the kingdom's troops with great violence because of his commands. They rushed forward in tight lines, using their greater numbers to overwhelm those who were trying to help.

At that moment, Toren, an old friend of Shen's, came to release him from his bonds. Toren got to Shen and started working to liberate him. He finally broke the bonds and set Shen free. Shen rubbed his wrists, stepped away from the stocks that were now shattered, and bowed his head in thanks. Zara came over at that moment, which made Shen ask in shock:

"What's going on here?"

"Isn't it clear?" She said. "We're saving you."

Geno cut in with eagerness before Shen could thank her.

He said in a strong voice, "We don't have time to talk." "We have to get rid of the President."

"What are you going to do?" Shen asked, looking his brother in the eye.

Geno said firmly, "You and I will go after the President." "The others will stay here, guard the area, and deal with the Republic soldiers."

Shen agreed with his brother's plan and nodded. After that, the two rapidly moved toward the pyramid.

Shen and Geno ran into a few Republic soldiers inside the pyramid. The passageway was narrow, so the troops had to come at them in groups of one or two. Shen fought with the sword his brother had given him, making sure to hit Geno carefully so that their blades wouldn't touch in the little area. At the same time, Geno used his sword to skillfully deflect gunfire. When a soldier with a rifle shot, Geno turned his sword such that the bullet bounced off the steel. The sound of the bullet bouncing off the steel echoed loudly through the hallway. As they went deeper into the pyramid, the two fought perfectly together, bringing out enemy after adversary. Shen set up a coordinated attack by tricking a soldier into hitting him from the right. At the last second, he ducked low so Geno could stab the soldier in the side. Another person swung at Geno from above in a last-ditch effort, but Shen ran forward, dodged the blow, and hit the attacker's chin with the hilt of his sword, knocking him out cold. Shen's sword went right through the adversaries' armor, and Geno's attacks left them completely unable to fight back.

Out of nowhere, the Republic Champion showed up. He attacked with a huge sword that was very strong. Shen and Geno knew right away that the Champion was an amazing warrior; he wasn't like any other warrior. Every blow he threw was deadly fast. He pushed forward, and the blade whistled through the air, making Shen and Geno jump back.
The Champion's punches were strong enough to chip the stone under their boots.

Geno held on to his weapon fiercely and yelled for Shen when the Champion swung his sword again.

He responded, "I'll take care of this. Go finish the President."

Shen went toward the President without thinking twice about it since he trusted his brother's skills. He ran through the depths of the pyramid and finally saw President Tetelyus walk into a room. At the door, Shen stopped and listened to the sound of swords clashing behind him. He silently hoped that Geno could keep the Champion at away. Shen didn't think twice about following Tetelyus. But as he went in, he found something he didn't expect.

The room was a trap since it was all mirrors. There was no one else around. The bright reflections made the room look like it was much bigger than it was. Shen went slowly, aware that everything in this area that looked like a trap could be an illusion.

Tetelyus' voice echoed at that moment.

"Welcome to my playground, Shen," the President stated in a scornful, gloomy tone. "The real world of my rules and ideas."
