Chapter 5:

Chapter 5: Dual Wield & Dual Warriors

Manifest Merge: Fused With A Goddess

Harmony and Vault finally reached the cave. They saw some supplies scattered about. Rope piled in a corner, piles of branches in another, a fire pit in the center, and a makeshift bed out of leaves near one of the walls.

Harmony took a look around the cave and tried to sound optimistic. “Quite the setup you have here.”

Vault sat against the wall to rest. “Its not much, but my crafting ability has been helping me get by.”

Harmony raised an eyebrow. “You got reincarnated as a crafter?”

Vault shrugged. “That's what I was led to believe, but this ability isn't that strong. Might be because it's at E- rank.”

Harmony sat down across from him. “The skills have ranks?”

Vault nodded. “You leveled up from that fight for the first time, right? You should have gotten at least one skill from that. Check out the rank of the skill you learned.”

She opened the system window and did as instructed. Her “Extract skill” was Rank F-. Harmony jerked her body for a moment and Eunice took control once again.

“Every skill has a rank. It ranges from the lowest one being F- and the highest rank being S. Usually, as a skill increases in rank not only does it become more potent, it's also possible for it to develop more abilities.”

Vault gave her an uneasy look. “You're not the human girl I was talking to before. Who are you anyway?”

Harmony shot him a dirty look before control returned back to Felicia. She blinked a few times, a little confused from what just happened, but quickly regaining her composure. “I guess she doesn't want to talk to you.”

Vault raised an eyebrow “What's her problem?”

Harmony shrugged and gestured for Vault to continue his explanation about the system. Now that their lives were not in danger at the moment they had time to go into a more in-depth explanation about how things worked.

Everyone has some form of stat window in order to grow/get stronger. The skills and stats are given ranks instead of levels in order to keep track of their power. Leveling up can lead to not only getting more stat points to increase ranks, but also getting more skills.

It seems like it is possible to potentially acquire passive/practical skills through various means. Vault was able to acquire crafting related skills through just building various items for his own survival. Harmony got the potential growth skill through the fusion of Eunice and Felicia.

As for the stats themselves the breakdown was pretty much as follows.

Strength: How hard you can hit and your physical strength.

Vitality: Stamina and how long it takes for you to get tired.

Dexterity: Acrobatics and delicate work.

Endurance: Defense and how hard you can take a hit.

Perception: Sensory capabilities

Harmony took a moment to look over her stats in order to get a better idea of just where she stood in terms of overall power.

Strength: F-

Vitality: F

Dexterity: F+

Endurance: F

Perception: F

Gaining more experience would allow her to distribute stat points into each stat and cause an increase in rank. For example, getting more points to her strength stat of F- would cause it to rank up to F. Continuing to do so would allow it to increase to the next rank of F+ then eventually to the rank of E-.

She had accidentally put the points into her stats randomly, when she was leveling up while fumbling with the stat menu controls, the first time. She didn't really regret it too much because really anything helped her since she was just starting out.

Now that Vault had given her the rundown of how the system works, they needed to focus on just getting through the day at this point. It's basically a matter of what they should do now?

After discussing their options for a bit, and much to the reluctance of Eunice, Harmony decided to team up with Vault. Or at least Felicia did. They had both agreed to work together for the time being in order to survive.

Still pretty injured from the battle that they had beforehand, they couldn't really risk leaving the cave at the moment. So they decided to use the time to go over a few weapons and materials they had on hand.

Vault walked over to his weapon collection. “Honestly, I'm surprised you did as well as you did back there against the wolves, with just branches in your hands. It was a pretty good improvised weapon considering the situation.”

Harmony gave Vault a smug look and looked proud of herself. Eunice in the mental world rolled her eyes.

“<It wasn't that clever at all if you think about it. What kind of fool would rush into a battle that has nothing to do with them? Even more so with a poor choice of weaponry?>”

Felicia glared at Eunice in the mental world. “<What kind of fool drags someone into another world, to participate in a survival game, with a horrible beginner’s package?!>”

The girls continued glaring at each other until their attention was drawn back to the world outside of the mental one. They both noticed Vault was waving his hand in Harmony's face. “Hello?! Is one of the two girls in there paying attention?!”

Eunice gestured for Felicia to go ahead. Felicia made Harmony apologize to Vault for ignoring him. Vault continued showing off his weapon collection in order to help Harmony get a better weapon to replace the one she had sacrificed.

The weapon options didn't really have too much variety. Most of them were just rocks and sticks tied together. There was a stone ax, a rope with two rocks tied to it, a spear with a stone attached to the end of it, but something caught her eye.

There were two stones that were circular shaped and the edges of them seemed sharp. Harmony pointed at the strange weapon. “ Hey Vault, what's that one?”

He held up the weapons in front of her so she could get a better look. “I found some sharp rocks one day and managed to sort of shape them a bit. I was experimenting and tried to make chakrams.”

Harmony continued to admire the weapon a bit closer. She noticed a handle was made on one side for both of them. It was for a spot to safely place your hand on in order to hold it without getting hurt, since the rocks were sharp.

Felicia recalled wielding the branches and remembered that dual wielding just felt natural to her.

She picked up the two weapons and started to do a few slashes around with them to test how it felt wielding them.

Both Eunice and Felicia took a moment to admire the weapons in their hands. For a brief moment in the mental world they both exchanged a look with each other. They might not agree on many things, but this they knew was a good weapon for them. At least it seemed better than their other options.

Vault offered her some materials in order to create a sort of case for the chakrams. It was to keep them on her back when she goes out into the field. “I know there's an inventory and everything, but having the weapon equipped on your person is probably a better idea.”

Harmony stared at him wide-eyed. “ I have an inventory? Like I can store stuff away when I need it for later?”

Eunice facepalmed herself in the mental world. “<How did you miss that?! It's been right in front of you?! It's one of the first things in the stat menu!>”

Both spent a few minutes showing Felicia how to use the inventory option in the menu. You pretty much just needed to make contact with an object. Using a mental command, the system window would appear in front of you, and question if you wanted to store the item away.

It was actually very simple. Going forward she knew this would be a very useful tool to utilize.

Some time had passed. They had both finished recovering completely at this point. One useful passive ability that they both seem to have was a healing factor. Harmony's healing factor was labeled as an F rank skill called Recovery Meld.

The description stated something about restoring her body to a more pristine condition slowly over time. It might be safe to assume that other people who got sent to this world might also have some form of passive healing factor. She decided to make a mental note for later.

After packing a few items within their inventories, they both decided to set out back into the field. They were both getting very very hungry, and hunger outweighed their desire for safety at the moment.
