Chapter 8:
The One Uniting: Era of Monsters
The fighters had nearly reached each other. Abruptly, they halted. Placed one leg to the front. Then they shifted their weigh on it, leaned forward. And struck! – Bam! The impact created a pressure wave, resulting in a feeble tremor. Again and again, fists collided. Bam, bam... No one gave in. Each time punches met; another pressure wave arose. And rattled the room. Both parties were hitting at a fast speed. And yet, they didn’t slow down. On the contrary, their speed increased. Their movements strained the floor. Further cracks formed. And surely, it wouldn’t stop there.
‘You’re fast, considering your build.’, the werewolf praised the sandman. ‘But it’s getting boring, don’t you think?’ The werewolf accelerated. And overwhelmed the enemy. Every following hit forced him back. Bam, bam, bam! The titan jerked back with each struck!
For her next strike, the werewolf opened her fists, thus revealing her mighty claws. The sunshine passing through the window bathed them in a soft glow. As she thrusted her arm forward, she destroyed the titan's arm. Then she aimed her next attacks at the armour itself. Several thrusts followed, targeting the titan’s upper area. Each one connected! And the armour steadily broke apart. The clattering noises echoed throughout the room. Keck! Keck! They gave Drin and the others goose bumps.
The werewolf noticed the most broken part of the armour – The chest area. She didn’t lose time. And right away, aimed with a punch at it – Bam! The armour in the upper area busted.
‘Finally, you show yourself!’, the werewolf uttered. The enemy’s bruises had healed a little bit by now. Still, the swollen face had remained. Werewolf: He concentrated on healing while I dealt with his armour! ‘Not if I’m here!’, the werewolf bellowed, resuming her attack. She swung one arm; the claws widely extended. A weird feeling crawled up in Drin, but he came too late. Abruptly, the enemy covered himself with a new sand armour. The armour was completed before the werewolf’s attack could connect. But the werewolf didn’t halt. Werewolf: What help will it be? I’ll destroy it again! Her attack closed in. And met! Bam! Yet, she was the one to get hurt. She retreated, shaking her hand and hissed briefly. Werewolf: No scratch! She pounced back on him. Whereas, the enemy only defended, his arms up. Each time the werewolf destroyed the armour, it repaired itself. Strrrg! Strrrg! The armour kept repairing. So, the werewolf increased her speed. But, so did also the armour’s recovery speed. Enemy: Yes, continue to dig your own grave!
One minutes had passed. The enemy dropped his guard. And the werewolf laid down her arms. She realized that she hadn’t do any damage at all. Instead, she had made the enemy stronger with each blow.
‘It’s too late!’, the enemy rejoiced. He thumped his chest. ‘Hard, right?’ When he noted the gasping werewolf, he chuckled briefly. Then lunged forward. He gave her a blow in the stomach. Out of breath, the werewolf wasn’t fast enough to tighten her abs. The punch struck her merciless. And brought her to the ground. Her coughing triggered another laugh:
‘Hahaha! I must say, you were quite strong, but not as strong as I expected! I can’t believe that you are SS-rank! Drin: So SS-rank is supposed to be stronger than that! Ridiculous!’ Drin advanced one step, hesitated for the second one, then remained motionless. He bit his lips and twirled his fingers. His eyes were shaking. Unsure about his next action, he decayed in deep thoughts. Drin: Then why isn’t she stronger? Man, she’s a fucking werewolf! She must be pretending. But – he touched his chest – what’s that unpleasant feeling I get? Drin had an inner conflict to deal with. Though, it stopped when the headache returned. He clutched his head. While the sandman was mocking the werewolf and Drin dealing with his throbbing head, the werewolf, done with coughing, tried to get back her strength by breathing calmy. Though, the enemy spotted her. He formed his two hands into a large hammer and rose it.
’Trying to buy time, heh! I won’t allow it, bitch!’
‘Do you think that you will be able to hit me with your speed?’, the werewolf growled with a half-smile. Not wasting any time, the enemy let his hammer fell upon her. The werewolf was about to avoid the coming attack. But she failed. Werewolf: What is this rough feeling on my legs?
‘Your legs!’, Drin shouted. The werewolf instantly stared at them. They were surrounded by sand. The sandman had secretly placed them there while the werewolf was giving him blows.
‘DIE!`, the sandman screamed before his hammer met the werewolf. It slammed her into the ground. Blood spat in every direction. The floor beneath them broke apart. A hole emerged in which the man and the werewolf fell into. Drin: Fuck! Without looking at the two men, Drin yelled:
‘We follow them! Hurry up!’ They dashed out the room and turned left. At the corridor’s end was a door, leading to a staircase. They were lucky that the stairs weren’t destroyed and so they dashed down.
‘Did he become our boss or what?’, the skinnier one asked. His partner shrugged his shoulder, directing his eyes at Drin. Bigger guy: The worry in his words before – Does he know her?
While the man and werewolf were falling, the werewolf used the rubbles as a springboard. She jumped from stone to stone. By doing that, she evaded the enemy’s attacks – Shooting sand spears. But with their slow speed they didn’t hit. The werewolf soon found herself behind the enemy. Although the enemy’s attacks hadn’t hit once, he was rejoicing:
‘Just give up, you can’t defeat me!’
‘Are you done?', asked the werewolf. Her voice turned surprisingly calm: ‘I’ll show you something, something that’ll shatter your entire body.’ Enemy: Is she hiding a secret move? Having said that, the werewolf swung her arms around the armour. She put one hand in the other hand and pressed the armour against her.
‘It’s futile, I’ve won!’ The werewolf ignored the comment. Abruptly, she started turning herself, with the titan. Faster, even faster! Gradually, a little tornado formed through the rotation. The tornado destroyed every floor it passed. Krrrg... Each time it wrecked a floor, the rubbles became nourishment for the tornado’s grow. The tornado, at its greatest speed and force, had nearly reached the floor of the basement. All of a sudden, the werewolf shouted: ‘Tornado Crash!’ With a big impact, the tornado smashed into the ground. Baaang! The resulting shock wave jolted the whole basement.
