Chapter 10:
Dragon's Laud
A day has past since meeting the new dragons. I didn't realize how cold it was til the fever set in. I cling to glory stick to stay upright since my knees want to give out. Apparently Pearl's powers are not developed enough to do internal healing yet.
"Dre, could you carry him?" Pearl asks. We decided on Dre for the drake since he is way too timid to be called Tank.
Dre nods then lays down as upright as he can. Olive, the swamp dragon, helps push me up onto Dre. I drop glory stick while trying to get a good grip. The glorified stick falls faster than I can catch it.
"It's alright, I can carry it." Olive says with her gentle voice. We finally settled on the name Olive since she wanted something more feminine than Emerald, Forest and Camo.
"Thanks." I say weakly.
"Mmm mmm." Olive replies with kindness in her eyes.
Dre gets up while I hold on for dear life. Sheldon pops his head out of the river.
"I found a cave not far down stream. We can take refuge in there." Sheldon says.
"Lead the way." Pearl says climbing down from Dre's head to his shoulders. She rests her claw on my hand. I fade in and out of consciousness.

Dre and Olive are curled up around Ragon to keep him warm since none of us know how to make a fire. Pearl is on his forehead in deep concentration. Her scales are glowing and shimmering faintly as healing power courses through her. Sadly she has had no luck bringing his fever down. There isn't much I can do either.
"I'm going to go out and find some food." I tell the rest.
"Thank you." Olive quietly voices everyone else's thoughts.
I nod and head out of the cave. I scurry around bushes and look up at the tall trees. While walking and looking up I accidentally ran into a flower that covers my whole face and snout in pollen. Hacking and sneezing, I try rubbing the pollen off but it just smears it. I hear the river and barely see it. Bolting to it I eventually reach it and slip into it.
I'm no longer blind in the water. Clicking I can hear where the rocks and fish are even in the dark. Finding some algae and underwater moss I rub my face on to get rid of the pollen.
Once out of the river I'm back to the large world I can't see or hear well in. I try my best to climb the trees for a few nuts I saw over head. I finally shake them loose and pile them all onto a leaf and drag it back to the cave. I repeat this with fish for the other dragons. I even found a small rat upon Olive's request.
Ragon was still feverish when I left a little while ago to search for some other plants for him to eat if he woke up. Spending all that time on the bottom of the ocean searching for books from the sunken ships has helped. I'm also thankful my mother taught me how to read them. For if I didn't read them than Ragon would have died from the first berry bush he encountered.
I found some more berries that humans can eat, sadly the bush was very tall, thin and thorny. Getting on my back legs I slowly start to pull the limb down and work my claws up the stalk while pulling it down. Eventually I get to the end with berries.
"Good evening, ally of the summoned." Says an old man with white eyebrows covering his eyes, staff and a dingy robe. He was bent down way to close to my face. I jump back prepared to hit him with a shot of water. The limb I was holding though smacks him right between the eyes. Some blood trickles down where the thorns pricked his thin skin. It takes him a second but he eventually yeows, jumping back in pain.
"Humans are trouble. You should leave me alone." I command.
"I see you have mistaken me for one of the baddies as Ragon would say. Aye Sheldon?" The old guy smiles mischievously.
"H-how?" I step back.
"Simple! I'm Guy." He throws his hands out gesturing to everything.
"I see you're a guy. You can leave now." I state ready with my water shot.
"No no no no. I'm a prophet named Guy. Let me prove it. Your human friend has a fever from being slowly poisoned. It also didn't help he was running around in a swamp yesterday in less than adequate attire. Hmm?" Says the now confirmed stalker.
If I run back to the cave he will for sure follow. But if he is a stalker then he already knows where the cave is. Why single me out? Is he going to pick us off one by one as a sick joke? And that poison talk, that has to be nonsense.
"I mean no harm Sheldon. I know you care for him quite a lot-" I then cut him off.
"Do not!" I shout then pout.
"You have a mutual agreement then." Guy smiles gently then gets a solemn look on his face. "If Ragon doesn't get treated and a fire built he will pass in a few days. I know it's hard for you to trust humans given your past but know that's why I sought out you first. My other prophecies, I stopped watching when I knew I wasn't going to be waking up in them."
He gave a nervous smile. So if he is some prophet then he knows to fear me.
"Very well but I'm keeping an eye on you." I side eye him while making my way over to my leaf.
"As you should young one." He let's out a dry chuckle.

Once back at the cave, Pearl is her peppy self asking questions. Guy lit a fire for Ragon and we all took turns gathering wood. Guy even changed Ragon into a clean robe. Not the best looking robe but it's better than the one the old guy is wearing.
Turns out one of the berries Ragon was foraging is poisonous. Not a lot of poison just enough to add up over a few days or meals. Guy explained to me the difference in the plants. The safe ones have a yellow green stem, the poisonous one has a green with orange stem. He also said it's a common mistake. Then he praised me for my knowledge of all the plants. Along with knowing how to read even if the books were a bit soggy.
"We can't let the summoned one pass now. He has found most of his purpose for fighting." Guy smirks.
"What do you mean?" I ask curled up beside Ragon with my front claws crossed.
"You see, he is fighting for all of you." Guy says almost deep in thought while staring at the fire.
I side eye him skeptically.
"You and him have a bit in common. You are both just at different stages. Maybe that's why you're good companions." Guy says still looking into the fire.
"I'm just with him because we have an agreement to take Gilton and Tundra down." I say with a sigh.
"Sounds. Like your friends are back. Don't be late to tell others your true feelings Sheldon." He says turning toward the cave entrance.
Olive, Dre and Pearl make it back with a whole tree.
"I'm telling you he asked for smaller limbs." Olive is whispering to Dre, who has the biggest grin on his face.
"It's alright Olive. I have a wood cutting spell I learned from magic camp back when I was a youngster." Guy says with that big irritating grin of his.
"I'm going to go get more food." I say walking out of the cave and into the dark.
"But it's dark out." Pearl starts to protest.
"Let Sheldon go. I said things are are hard for some to talk about." I could barely hear the words Guy said to the others.
