Chapter 1:

Enter.

Pitstop Penance, My Isekai Purgatory.

From our now, into the After; this world into the Beyond, I departed with a fearful whimper, "Lord God, have mercy on me".

Thus, I breathed my finale, death rattled my cage open, and I began to leave my vessel. No more tethered to the physical, I felt afloat, and levitated deeper into reality. Past a veil I could not ascribe with dimensions, I entered a passage of dark and light. My spirit drifted forth, and I fell fainter and stranger from former sensation. Closer to pure being, I was not dull, but alive. A great essence, whose presence poured out me a livid fear and awe, drew me forth towards the shine that awaited I; far ahead this tunnel, my soul drifted.

I awed. Though dead, I was still alive, and reveled in this fantastic unknown. Though, perhaps out the darkness which surrounded me, rumblings of my past stirred a dreadful weight whom permeated. My being, feeling so full and light, felt a drainage. A dim hollow pressed against I, and as I leaked the elevation felt, that light of my horizon retreated unto twas a vague twinkle in my proverbial eye.

Alas, it was a thorn which haunted my life, siphoning the goodness and levity I upheld, as a heavy fatigue gnawing on my heart, tearing callouses into my peace; having reared its shadowy maws into my life after, too, now in my being wholly spirit, this Abyss of mine finally swallowed me whole. I despaired, and lamented the void that encompassed me. It was here, I felt a shift. The distant illumination, which I yearned to draw near, did not further leave; nor, though, did the glimmering grow near. Rather it seemed to hurry towards the side, or was it I whom was moving?

By a rush of what my essence can sense, a gentle breeze brushed against me, then, the gust of a new place. At the spark of a light which boomed out the darkness, I was breathed into my surroundings, and have entered a new place. No more a pit of empty, what encompassed me became a land full of hills. Below, ahead, behind, and to the sides were wide horizons of bountiful nature. The distance between them and I were vast, like I were a ghost in the sky.

Looking up, I awe, for there I saw an ethereal tapestry of clouds which seemed full of life looking towards me. Without thought, this strange beauty drew me close, but I could not go. Rather, I was brought downwards by a firm palm of air. Drifting towards the ground, I relented, and tried to grab the green below. Of course, I failed to touch the grass, as my form was the wisp of mine being. Eventually, simply hovering above a rock, I trailed the traversal of my new form with this new expanse of reality.
