Chapter 7:
The Kingdom Between Us
Today's adventure started early in the morning. Yesterday, it was all so crowded and bustling, but right now, as the group walks through the quiet early morning streets of Eldoria. The streets of Eldoria were hushed in the early morning, the only sounds the creak of carts and the rustle of shopkeepers preparing their stalls. The stillness felt almost otherworldly, a silence that pressed softly against the skin.
“So this place you are taking us is quite far away, as it seems we are leaving quite a bit earlier than last time”, asked Aaron with an inquisitive face.
“Yes, well, it is a very calm and interesting place, no one visits it much, but I'd say if you have a good company, that place could feel magical”, answered Isabella, who was more excited to show this place than anyone.
“Consider this place is like a special tour from us”, added Estella, as lively as ever
“I don't know, like if the company is what I'll need, I don't think he would be the best. The only thing hell do is there is sit and draw, what say painter gramps?” sarcastically commented Ishaan, looking at Aaron.
Aaron gave off one of the most anime-like pissed off faces to Ishaan, “Oh!! Really, huh??” and in his silent rage just pinched Ishaan on his side super hard.
“OWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWW!!!!! Okay, bro. Sorry, sorry. Please let me live now. OWWWW!!! It hurts, bro, please for heaven's sake,” cried for help Ishaan.
All of them shared a collective laugh, except for Ishaan, who was still recuperating from the set trauma.
They travelled for about 40-45 minutes before they reached a place tucked quietly and neatly near the outskirts and the beginning of the forest and mountains covering Eldoria stood a not very huge but still a considerably large-sized monument, it gave of a very historical and ancient vibe almost as if it was older than history itself but it had a calm and serene factor to it as if not tainted by humans for a long time.
“If you couldn't guess this is a very ancient library, and it is said that until very recently it was used as to store many scriptures and history about this place and was a popular spot for tourists but with technology and the library now shifted to the center of the city square it stands here alone with some books that can still be found here,” said Isebella with a calm yet confident look in her eyes.
“We generally used to come here occasionally whenever we felt the city was loud or life felt a little too heavy”, added Estella
Aaron was looking at this marvel with great zeal. It captivated him so much that he was about to reach for his sketchbook almost instinctively, as he wanted to catch this beauty and draw an interpretation in his own way. But…..
“BROOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!! Just look at this place, this gives off the ancient, gupto dhon vibes, don't you think, like bro if I enter this right now I think I might just find treasure,” exclaimed Ishaan as usual with his bright cheerfulness.
“It seems like we worried for nothing”, Isebella and Estella sighed in relief..
“We are really considering this place on the roster, you know”, commented Isebella
“Ya, tell about it, I was like, man, will Ishaan really like this place, like seeing him, he is more of an outdoor person, so will he really be ok to go here?” added Estella.
“You know i might have thrown a fuss if i knew we were going to a library first if you had told me earlier” interjected Ishaan, “But now seeing this place, oh boy i glad i came here because even if i am bored i just somehow know my explorer side will just go up down to see this relic of a building”
“Ya, the architect is so unique and old, even if one doesn't want to read, just exploring this place would give them a sense of accomplishment”, added Aaron while he was clutching his bag strap as if he couldn't wait to just bust out his sketch pad and draw this beauty.
“So shall we move in now, boys and girls?” asked Isebella with happiness and intrigue.
The four had entered the building together, but within a few minutes, Ishaan and Estella had already vanished from sight.
“What am I to do? Sighhhh….” sighed Isebella.
“Well, no need to worry, we are anyway here for quite some time, and if Ishaan and Estella stick together, then I don't think there is any problem, as Ishaan will have to come to get snacks”
“Ya, you are right, well, as we are here, let's explore, shall we?” suggested Isebella.
Aaron and Isebella walked the halls for quite some time. Aaron, while walking, looked entranced by the subtle beauty and architecture before deciding to actually sit down in one of the old rooms and finally start sketching.
Aaron looked so engrossed in his art, his face, although on the surface looked expressionless, yet his hands and the way he was focused told a completely different story. It felt as if you gave a small kid a box of premium crayons and he was using it to create a masterpiece.
“So, you do really like to draw, huh? Just look at your enthusiasm, it's spilling out like a child drawing with his crayons, and your drawings are beautiful,” commented Isebella. “You notice details most people miss. Maybe that’s why you see the world so differently.”
“Ahhh…, gezz, it is nothing that great as I told you, it's just my way of pouring my emotions and just interpreting the world in my own way, that's why I find comfort in it ”, answered Aaron with a smile, which he planned to initially hide.
“It looks like you missed some details here; this pillar has been damaged over time”, pointed out Isebella, seeing him draw.
“Aw ma,n you are right, geez, you have some good observation skills”, commented Aaron
“I know”, replied Isebella with a proud grin.
Both of them spent quite some time chatting and just talking about the area. Isabella continued to tell Aaron about the area, pointing out hidden details, and Aaron, all the while drawing them out with his creativity, they shared a wholesome and interesting moment.
While Aaron and Isabella were lost in quiet concentration, Ishaan and Estella, the adventure party, were creating chaos in their own corner of the library.
“You know, I am curious about something”, said Estella with an intriguing and curious look
“What ?” asked Ishaan
“How in the holy name of almighty are you reading a musical score upside down!!” Estella cried out with exaggeration.
“Oh, that's why I was unable to understand it, ahhhhh!!!!!” Ishaan cried out as if he had realised that he had been reading the alphabet wrong all this time.
Estella noticed in the corner of her eye and dusted off the cello and raised a brow. “Bet you can’t keep up with me, upside-down reader.”
“Bet I can,” Ishaan shot back, cracking his knuckles before sitting at the old piano.
The first notes were clumsy, Estella laughing so hard she almost dropped her bow, but then something clicked. The library, so still and forgotten, slowly filled with music—uneven, playful, yet alive. Their laughter tangled with the notes, echoing against the ancient walls like the place itself had been waiting for it.
At the same time, Aaron tucked away his sketchbook, Isabella glancing at the half-finished drawing.
“You see the cracks,” she murmured, “but you draw them beautifully.”
Aaron paused, unsure how to reply. Instead, he smiled—a small, almost shy smile that stayed with him as they made their way back.
When the four finally regrouped at the entrance, Ishaan threw an arm dramatically around Estella’s shoulder.
“Day two complete! The library has been successfully conquered.” Estella rolled her eyes, but didn’t shake him off. Isabella and Aaron shared a quiet glance, the kind that said more than words.
And so, what began as just another stop on a tour ended as another step in a journey that was no longer about places—but about the people beside them.
