Chapter 7:

Foggy Battle

God Games

The onlookers approach closer towards the group, still unaware of their presence.

Ona speaks up to her group, “Fuki, attack from above. Me and Hazlo will go straight on.” They both nod in agreement.

They split as Fuki takes out her wings which were patterned like an owl, combining her short, plain appearance with a brown and dark brown shirt and leggings. Her sharp sight and hearing also allowed a strategic advantage in terms of scouting an enemy.

Hazlo starts running over, his footsteps heavy as they leave marks on the floor comparable to an elephant; he was a brute at over six feet; his muscles were barely contained by his green collared, sleeveless shirt. His dark hazel eyes were beaming with an urge for revenge.

Lastly, Ona charges behind Hazlo, ready to analyse the situation at hand and command them to victory; her grey and white cloak complements her athletic physique and her muted palette. Her grey and white shaded hair was messy all over, and her sharp eyes did not let any of her enemies leave.

Their combined efforts are in the hope of avenging the death of their comrade that just dissipated in fornt of them at the other side of the grass field, the group looks over at the approaching threat.

Toki instantly turns to face them with his spear. “Seems her teammates are coming for revenge.”

Hiwo kneels, putting his hands on the floor. He waits down, studying their approach, waiting for the right moment to ensnare them in a cube of fog. Ayuri also prepares, and she studies which threat would be most effective to block out.

“Shina, use your new ability and take out that girl.” Hiwo takes a look around, seeing only two enemies searching for the last one.

Shina instantly dashes towards them, her ability coming into null effect. “It doesn’t work?” She instantly retreats next to Hiwo

Her absorption ability doesn't work at all. It must be because of some factor we haven't understood yet.

“I feel stronger, but the ability of that woman didn’t work. It must be because of Ayuri’s ability. Her gaze wanders back to Ayuri, who was prepared to cast the spell at one of them.

Shina's head spins. "Please, give them a peaceful death."

“Shina, what's wrong?” Ayuri calls out, seeing her limping slightly.

“Look above!” Hiwo suddenly calls out and everyone looks up to seee why. Fuki dived down towards them. Toki takes everyone close to him as he points his spear at the sky. At the same time, both Hazlo and Ona were dashing; they were caught in a two-way attack.

Seriously, this isn’t already going to be good for us.

Hiwo quickly turns to Ayuri. “Cast your spell on that flying girl; we will leave the rest for absorption.”

We all give a nod of acknowledgement and Ayuri casts her spell onto the diving owl, her ability causing Fuki’s wings to stop flapping.

Her body spiralled out of control out of the sky. Her being so high above was an advantage at the start but without knowing that Ayuri could cancel it out, her body hit the dirt, causing immense pain to shoot out of her body and multiple injuries. Her wings were torn and bruises started to appear.

If that woman was with them, with the combination of the winged girl, it would've been nearly impossible for us to win at all.

His gaze turns from the fallen owl girl towards the approaching behemoth and an anthelic-looking lady coming towards them.

“I'm activating it now!” Hiwo shouts out as they all back behind him. Black fog seeps from the ground and starts to rise in a forty-by-forty area. Its thickness does not even allow anyone to look past a couple of steps.

Toki looks into the fog, its darkness consuming the sunlight coming down upon them. “I'm heading in.”

With a swift slash with his spear, a tiny bit of fog dissipates away, allowing light to enter and give him a clearer view like the ability stated compared to the trapped ones within.

It seems that this spear can really slash through anything after all.

He runs inside, soon covered by the darkness as well, and he listens intensely to anything that could give away the positions of their targets.

“Hazlo! Where are you?” A feminine voice calls out within the fog. Toki runs towards the source.

He runs even faster before seeing her standing in a circle of light; he slashes a low blow, making sure not to kill the person; the sound of skin being sliced echoes within the fog, and a slight grunt is let out also. His eyes widen as the fog where the slash landed starts to disappear like before.

Seems I hit her; it's not enough, but it should slow her a bit.

He circles the lady; he focuses on the spot where he cut before, yet she stays focused on any sound that could leak his entrance.

He sees another opportunity to strike from behind; he dashes in, slashing towards her upper back thigh, a bit of blood being let out from the wound, and her firm stance starts to shift slightly with a notable lean towards her other side.

“I'm coming.” Heavy footsteps shake the floor as Hazlo finds Ona stuck within the foggy prison of sorts. They both were in full view for Toki now who just smirked.

While they seem to get into position, Toki enters their zone, seeing a momentary weak spot as their distraction of each others presence gives him a window.

The blade swings towards them, aiming directly for Hazlo. The blade struck his body deeply. As Toki takes away his spear however, Hazlo is firmly holding onto the spear stuck inside his body.

Toki tried to overpower Hazlo, but it was to no avail. While he was still wrestling, Ona, with the guidance of her keen senses and the slight silhouette she spotted quickly, took out a sharp kunai and threw it full force towards the fog, hearing blood fall onto the ground and the smell of blood enter her system.

This injury can't stop me; I have to change tactics.

He lets go of the spear and clutches his side, knowing it was pointless trying to pull it out; his only goal was to get hits with his bare hands. It was even more risky than before, but everyone relied on him.

The grass underneath gives way to the sound of tapping. With silent strides, Shina enters his view, closing the distance behind Hazlo. Her uniform painfully exclaims as she bends herself down to get underneath his massive frame.

Seeing a window of opportunity asHazlo was pulling out the spear; her hands quickly turned upside down as she manifested her orb into her palm and struck at his lower back.

His body started from his lower back to dissipate before spreading around, his huge stature being turned into a mere magic source for her.

“Hazlo, what's happening to you?” Ona immediately scans his body, disappearing before her sight, and then takes a glance at the small, ash and red-haired girl who was underneath him.

He didn't reply.

“Hazlo!” She says it louder without a reply again.

She turns towards Ona, quickly rotating her palm to also tap her. Ona quickly sees the approach, lets her senses win over, and dodges swiftly towards the right.

"You don't deserve to kill us; just die." Shina froze, putting her hand on her forehead.

Ona sends out another kunai causing it to graze Shina's right hand where her orb is.

“Hiwo! Get rid of the fog now!” Toki calls out loudly into the air, the fog slowly retreating into the grass, giving way to the sun's embrace.

Shina looks at him a bit confused ignoring his wound. “Why would you do that?”

“She has a good sense of sound and good reactivity; the fog would only hinder our cooperation at this stage.” Toki looks behind Ona, an advantageous position to attack. Hazlo was a memory of the past, now leaving the spear to lie.
