Chapter 8:
Blades of the Shattered Chaplets: 3rd Novel
Abby: “My, my. I leave you alone for a while and you become a shell of a human being. God, it smells in here. How drunk do you have to be before you realize how much of a mess this place is. Look at you, you're as thin as a kite. Have you been surviving on alcohol? I’ve looked all over for you thinking that you died in Deceased Paradise, but for some reason, I knew that you would survive. So, where’s the kid? Tell me good news.”
Astro: “Wh-Why don’t you go get m-me some t-turkey. I love turkey.”
Abby: “God, you’re still too drunk to even know what I’m saying. Your body is probably a mess on the inside. Lucky for you, I can fix that right now. Don’t hate me. Whatever you’re drinking for tells me something went bad, but I’m greedy, so I want to know…Breaker Chaplet.”
Abby chanted this that directly targeted every part of his body. Smoke entered his body and cleared it of the toxins created from the alcohol. She was an extremely powerful witch and dedicated a lot of her life to figuring out what chaplets could do, however she wasn’t an anomaly like Claudia, however, nobody was.
Abby was alone most of her life after moving away from her parents at a young age to learn about witchcraft, but when she attended school, she found it boring. Instead, she left without anyone knowing and started to study on her own and experiment with many different ideas that school did not teach in order to get to where she was today. She understood that she didn’t need school to bring about the 3 chaplets that she was able to control and one of them was the Breaker Chaplet.
The alcohol expelled from Astro’s body in huge droplets and Abby threw all the liquid back over him.
Abby: “There, now you at least don’t smell like nasty sweat and alcohol. You just smell like alcohol instead.”
Astro: “Agh, you bitch. Why couldn’t you just let me suffer in peace?”
Abby: “Don’t start with me Astro. What the hell happened? You haven’t been like this since…Well, you know what I’m talking about. I can only think of one thing that would’ve happened. Was the boy too cocky for his own good?”
Astro: “You’re so nosy. Why can’t you just go mess with someone else?”
Abby: “No, no, no. Don’t do that to me. I hadn’t seen you in years and then you appear out of nowhere and ask me for a favor, which I granted to you, and you tell me that I won’t leave you alone? Hmph! I wish I could tell your mother how bad of a person you turned out to be.”
Astro: “If that’s supposed to make me mad, it doesn’t. You know my mother was a self condescending idiot. She never let us do anything. That’s exactly why I’m in the position I am today. She made me leave the house at such a young age that I met stupid Yasuhiro in that organization and everything has spiraled down since then.”
Abby: “What happened, Astro? Tell me. Is the boy dead? Is that what this is about?”
Astro: “I don’t know. Kento was his usual self. He didn’t let me go with the kid to beat Kastor and then a lot happened and when I eventually got there, it wasn’t even Kastor. Some dude named Shin almost killed us all if it weren’t for some weird Great Swordsman preaching about love.”
Abby: “Typical Kento. What a joke he is. He’s a disgrace to the Great Swordsmen. I assume Natsuki was the one that saved you all, but who is this Shin? I’ve never heard of him? So, Kastor took the kid?”
Astro: “I told you. I don’t know what happened. I haven’t seen him since that day, but according to the almighty knowledgeable freak, he can’t track him or the other boy. Says they are the first he can’t track in his whole life. What a liar he is. Go get me some more booze.”
Abby: “I know who you’re talking about and give him credit. He has helped a lot of people and has more knowledge than probably anyone in this world. Tch, so you don’t know if the boy is dead and yet you're wallowing around here acting like the end of the world is coming?”
Astro: “That would be a better option. Everyone dying would take away the suffering from those kids. They don’t deserve that. I do, but they certainly don’t. Leave or else I’m gonna force you out.”
Abby: “I’m not leaving and with the state you're in, you can’t do anything right now. You look like you’ve lost 50 pounds. Clean up this place and pull yourself together. Yeah, you had one bad experience, but stop taking it like it's such a burden and a failure that you didn’t succeed. I’ll be back here in 1 week and you better fix yourself up. There is a crystal ball dance happening and you’re coming with. I don’t even care if you wear that, just make it smell nice. This is your payment for me helping you.”
Abby slammed the door on Astro who thought that she made things worse by telling them where Kento was, but he didn’t want to express that thought. Deep down, he knew that Dante’s will was strong in finding Lucky, and he of all people, did not want to disrespect Dante’s mindset for his friend.
Astro: “Crystal ball dance? What the hell has my life become? Where’s the booze?”
