Chapter 11:

Alliance or Leverage

God Games

Falsity stands from her seat. Her black heels blending into the surface of the void, she approaches the same spot where Kitsune and Justice left. The door appearing before her also opened, a light shining into the dark enclosure.

Taking a look outside of her room, she is greeted by a hallway stretching left and right; it has red carpet lined up like a five-star hotel, and there is also a room at equal intervals lined up by divisions.

Four doors remain closed; being alone isn't a bother to someone like me anyway. I should focus on trying to get as much information as possible about all the new rosters that have joined ever since my disappearance.

Her peasant dress blows backwards as her heels click around the red carpet. She heads towards the left, where a staircase seems to descend to the lower floor. Further ahead, she saw Justice leave with her division, all of them having that white and golden-lined colour palette; however, their clothes varied incredibly.

It seems that all of her division is well off, even after all these years.

She gazed at them, trying to sense any malice they could have towards her and to gauge their threat level. Their division was composed of three men and two women, including Justice, a typical size for a division for the God Games.

As they walk past her, they take note of her presence, nothing more or less. They walked down the staircase, which went to the lower floor. Falsity quickens her steps to lean over the edge of her floor; she leans upon a wooden-made overlook supporting her frame.

Figures i'm one of the last ones, I don't have an urge like these new deities to form bonds with others. Maybe I should cause some chaos to liven up the party. However, I don't want my representatives to be targeted this early on. What a cruel world I'm in!

Her eyes scan the lower floor, which was an open-space lobby where there seemed to be tons of couches and seating around enough to fit two divisions; the floor had a red and brown pattern comparable to a casino floor. Betting, however, wasn't uncommon for the god games. Winning was the ultimate goal despite that.

Taking herself back from the overlook, she starts walking towards the staircase; her steps are precise and silent, trying to stir as little as possible. Her hips sway down the stairs, easing each step she takes; her pale and dark colours make her stand out anyway against the red and brown colour scheme.

Upon hitting the lower floor, there were multiple glances.

Seems I'm already caught out; what a shame. Though I could at least get a moment alone in the lobby before I was already the main show.

Her eyes wander around the area, darting left to right. Many gods and goddesses were here. Other than the purity division, the myth division of kitsune. There wasn’t anyone else she could recognise.

An older-looking gentleman approached her. He had a white beard with formal attire; he was ready to talk business. His monocle and top hat were a unique touch to him, giving the man a look from a steampunk era.

Taking a closer look at the gentleman, his monocle twitched, zooming in and out like they were both equally trying to figure each other out. His hands had rings of gears that defied gravity, spinning endlessly.

“Are you perhaps Lady Falsity of the sin division?” His voice was husky, nothing unexpected for someone of his looks.

Letting out a soft smile, Falsity replies, “Yes, I am. May there be anything that you need from me?”

At least someone here seems to know how to talk properly. Perhaps trying to get something out of him might be the key but it's also suspicous he decided to approach me.

“Well, I'm Silas. I am a part of the human creation division.” He takes out a little mechanical symbol rotating in his hand; it was a hammer and gear that spun itself clockwise. It didn’t have a power source at all, so magic is the assumption.

That's unheard of. This must be a new division created under my banishment, an ideal situation, as one may call it.

“Never met anyone from that division yet; I'm pleased to meet someone who knows how to get to the point, however.” There was a hint of sharpness, a clear reminder to Silas that he is threading a fine line between being instantly considered or left behind.

He puts the symbol back into his back pocket. “I was going to offer an alliance between us, if that's something you are interested in.”

Taking leverage is the first part of negotiation in a businesslike scenario. At least someone isn't here to just have a good time and engage in useless recreational activities.

Her eyes dart around before letting out a sigh of disappointment at everyone within this lobby.

“You must know that I already have an eliminated team under my name and thousands of years of knowledge that you can't find elsewhere, perhaps within a couple.” Falsity lays out her deck at full view, a straightforward approach.

Silas doesn’t seem shocked or amused; he clears his throat before speaking. “I, however, know that you don't know everything about this age. Which is exactly why I want  to further discuss the past and the present, especially about the purity and the myths' power scale.”

“That's fine with me if you tell me anything of use.” With a sudden swing of her arm, a contract appears within her hands, stating their binding terms to share information.

He reads every line carefully, knowing better than blindly trusting a goddess of this sort, confirming that everything was correct. His eyes wander down to the bottom right of the page, a symbol of a pillar with a star on top of it, lines twirl around the pillar.

“How did you—” His words were left hanging; he knew he wouldn't get the answer yet anyway.

A soft smile leaves her mouth before making a quill appear and handing it over to him to sign.

Silas signs the contract before it slowly vanishes into thin air, confirming its validity. They both say their goodbyes before heading off in opposite directions. Falsity walks around for the next couple of hours, trying to eavesdrop from the sidelines for any sort of information leak.

As time came towards the sunset, falsity sat down in the corner seats of the lobby, away from any onlookers or any attention.

That sorts the first matter at hand; the second is the declaration of the event, which should be about the time for that to show up.

The lights in the lobby darken as a spotlight shines on top of the staircase she descended. Grey, robotic-like entities emerge from the shadows as one fitted in a formal suit takes centre stage. He looks around the lobby, seeing that everyone has their attention towards him from all sides.

“Welcome to the first event of this season's god games. Management this time wishes for there to be more sparkling talent to entertain the games; that's why an early elimination will occur on day two, starting at midday with two-hour intervals. The event is called eclipseion”

The crowd gasps and sighs in reaction. Falisty takes personal twisted enjoyment from seeing how fearful everyone seemed.

This was a common occurrence back a couple of thousand years ago. They really have gotten rather soft on the representatives it seems. But the mortals also seemed to be leaning towards wits and education rather than strength, so perhaps such monstrosities are impossible to beat now.

The speaker then walks off with his robotic entities simultaneously, as if they were linked within, and all the deities started to disperse, returning to their rooms.

The clock inside the games was around 6 am when the sun started to rise on the second day.
