Chapter 8:

Shimos Velhart

Lens fate in another world

WHO ARE YOU!?"
Yeah, that was me yelling. You would too if someone blasted a fireball at you out of nowhere! What the hell!?
Let me rewind a bit.
So, I was just wandering deeper into this creepy jungle looking for Mira when boom — this guy launches magic at me like it’s just another Tuesday. At first, I thought, okay, maybe he’s just scared of beasts, but still, talk about overreacting.
Anyway, after dodging the fireball, I noticed something near his camp — a magic book and a wooden stick. But not just any stick… a staff. How do I know? Bro, I’ve played enough RPGs in my life to recognize one when I see it.
Naturally, I grabbed the book and staff — for safety reasons, okay? Don’t judge me yet. I tried putting them into my item box, but then something strange happened.
My camera—err, Relic—started to glow. A weird menu popped up with the words:“COPY SKILLS”
I was like, "Copy what now?" But curiosity wins, and I pressed the button.
Suddenly, a voice echoed in my mind:"Fire Magic acquired.""Wind Magic acquired.""You now possess affinity with Fire and Wind magic."
Bruhhh. I was speechless. I mean, I CAN USE MAGIC NOW! Combine that with my time-stop ability, and I’m basically a walking cheat code.
I tested it — fired off a tiny fireball (not at anyone this time) — and boom, it worked. That’s when the mysterious boy realized his staff and book were missing. He looked around, clearly confused, and finally spotted me.
He glared.
"Where are my magic book and staff?" he asked.
I raised my hands and said, "Relax, I have them. Took 'em for safety. You kinda shot a fireball at me, remember?"
Did he calm down?
Nope. Next thing I knew, he was charging me with another stick like I was some kind of thief. I kept dodging, waving my arms, yelling:
"Wait, wait, chill! I’m not your enemy!"
He snapped, "Then why did you steal my stuff!?"
"Look bro," I said, catching my breath, "I have an ability to stop time, alright? So believe me when I say if I wanted to harm you, you wouldn’t even know. I just took the items to protect myself. That’s all. Chill."
He paused. Thought for a moment. Then nodded slowly.
"...If you can stop time... that does explain a lot. Fine. I won’t fight."
I let out a huge sigh of relief. Finally, someone reasonable.
Then suddenly—PING! Something clicked in my mind.
"Oh crap! MIRA!"Right. I was still looking for her!
I looked at the guy and asked if he’d seen a girl running through the jungle. He shook his head. No luck.
"I need to find her fast. This place isn’t safe, and she’s... she’s important to me," I said.
He thought for a moment, then replied, "If you return my book and staff, I’ll help you find her."
Deal.
He murmured something, probably a spell, and the next thing I knew, he looked off into the distance and said,"This way."
I was like — wait, what just happened? But I didn’t question it.
A few minutes later, we found Mira — back at the campsite.
"Are you dumb!?" I yelled. "Who runs off into a dangerous jungle like that!?"
She pouted, then mumbled, "Don’t say stuff like that again..."I sighed and apologized. She eventually forgave me… kinda.
Then she glanced at the boy beside me.
"Who’s this?"
So, I told her everything that happened.
We all sat around the campfire, shared food, and I finally asked the boy, "So… who are you, really?"
He looked up from his bowl and said quietly:"My name is Shimos Velhart."
Mira dropped her food.
"Wait—Velhart? THE Velhart!?"
I blinked. "Uh… what’s with the drama? Is he some kind of prince or something?"
The boy—Shimos—nodded.
"I am Shimos Velhart. But you don’t need to worry… I’ve been banished from my noble family."
I looked at him seriously."Banished? Why?"
He stared into the flames."...That’s a long story."
And so, the fire crackled as the three of us sat quietly, waiting for Shimos to tell his tale.
