Chapter 35: Let’s Achieve the Fusion, Part 4 The Fusion Steps Are the Key to the Result

We were in the Guild’s storage room. There were only a few boxes with furniture, clothes, shoes, and other things, but we had enough space to comfortably practice the steps we would use for the fusion.

—Alright, girls, I’ll show you what we’ll do to see if we can maybe perform the fusion. Pay close attention, because I don’t know if I’ll be able to repeat it a second time.
I said this while all of them watched me carefully.

—Alright, Taiyaki, we’re watching. Show us the steps we’ll do for the fusion, —Mizu said with some excitement.

—I just hope they’re not ridiculous steps… I don’t want to embarrass myself in front of the other Magical Girls, —Mizuki said nervously, worried about having to perform specific moves to merge with us.

—Okay, here I go, pay attention, —I said as I began a particular kind of dance.

I moved my legs and arms, swaying my body like I was performing a ballet from my previous world. I took delicate, calm steps, while reciting words to carry out the fusion:

—Goddess Aqua, this is our plea. We ask you to unite our bodies and souls for a moment, so that we may overcome this evil that harms us. Please, let this union bear fruit, so that we can achieve our goal.

As I reached the final pose, I extended my hands outward as if forming a circle with several people, channeling energy between my palms. After a few seconds, I shouted:
—Magical Girl Elemental Fusion!

After that, I felt something leave my body, and everyone looked astonished.

—W-wow, Taiyaki! That’s amazing. It’s elegant and graceful, but it could also turn out to be really powerful, —Rem said, impressed by what I had done.

We all began practicing the movements together, without transferring energy, just rehearsing the steps. After many tries, we finally succeeded in synchronizing. About forty minutes later, we were ready to test everything we had practiced.

This time, we performed the steps while reciting the incantation I had used during my demonstration:

—Goddess Aqua, this is our plea. We ask you to unite our bodies and souls for a moment, so that we may overcome this evil that harms us. Please, let this union bear fruit, so that we can achieve our goal.

We ended in the final pose, then spoke the final words:
—Magical Girl Elemental Fusion!

At that moment, we joined hands and began transferring our energy to one another. We could feel something changing. A force was binding us together. An aura sphere enveloped us, and suddenly everything turned white.

We couldn’t feel our bodies. Moments later, we found ourselves back in the same place—but with only one body. When we tried moving an arm, it was the same arm for all of us. The fusion was working.

Once the light faded, silence fell. To confirm the result, we searched the storage room for a mirror. When we finally found one, what we saw left us speechless.

We were now a single girl with black hair streaked with the colors of each of our hair, taller than any of us individually, with the appearance of an adult version of ourselves. I couldn’t think on my own anymore, nor remember my past. My memories were gone.

Then Mizuki spoke telepathically:
—It seems we’re only in sync, but we can’t read each other’s minds—or at least, I can’t. I thought we’d be able to share thoughts or memories, but it looks like some kind of defense mechanism to protect the bond. Well, now that we know this is possible, let’s set a limit so we can return to normal afterward.

I stayed calm at the thought that our memories weren’t shared. It comforted me, especially because I didn’t want anyone to discover my secret with Mizu.

God, I hope they never find out… Surely Goddess Aqua made it this way to protect us from the problems that would come if they learned we were actually adults instead of children. If we were discovered, I don’t know what would happen.

I’m afraid, but I have to be brave. If it comes to it, I won’t make excuses—I’ll be honest. Please, Goddess Aqua, don’t let it come to that.

Then, all of us spoke at the same time:
—The fusion shall last only four hours, no more, no less. As the creators of this technique, we set this rule.

A calm voice echoed in the air:
—Very well. It is decided. The Fusion shall last four hours, and those who form part of it will not be able to read each other’s minds or see one another’s memories.

We had to remain fused for four hours, so we decided to report to the receptionist. Leaving the storage room, we noticed several girls staring at us strangely, whispering about who we might be.

When we finally reached the receptionist, she asked who we were. We replied:
—We are a fusion, miss. We managed to create it. We are the fusion of Taiyaki, Rem, Mizu, Mizuki, and Akane. You must believe us—you’ll notice when you feel our magical energy.

The receptionist thought for a moment, sighed, and said:
—Alright. Place your hand on this orb. It will detect if you are who you claim, or you can show your ID cards.

She produced the same orb I had seen when I first joined the Guild to receive my ID card. We placed our hand on it, and the orb spoke:

—This is a fusion of several Magical Girls, five to be exact: Taiyaki, the Dark Magic Girl; Rem, the Lightning Magic Girl; Akane, the Fire Magic Girl; Mizuki, the Earth Magic Girl; and Mizu, the Light Magic Girl. Together, they have created a new technique. From now on, this fusion will be registered in our records. Please, Fusion, state a name for identification.

We thought about what name to use.
—I suggest we use a name that combines ours, —Mizuki said excitedly in our fused mind.

I already knew the name we would take: Tamiakemizuki, the Magical Fusion of Taiyaki, Mizuki, Akane, Mizu, and Rem.

With our new body, we declared:
—I am the Special Magical Girl of Fusion, here to serve humanity. I will destroy all evil in this world, and nothing shall stop me. Evil will fall before my great power, and the Demon Queen shall not defeat us. We will win this war, and humanity will be safe from those despicable beings who seek to destroy it.

The receptionist was left speechless, her mouth hanging open. Finally, she said:
—Alright then. Since you’re here, why not take on a quest to finish today’s Guild duties? Here’s the list of available jobs:

Hunt Magical Boars

Clean civilian homes

Gather Dragon Meat

Help the elderly

Sell fruits and vegetables

Care for the King’s children

Guard duty for noblemen

Forge weapons for the King’s knights

After reviewing the list, we decided to choose caring for the King’s children. We told the receptionist, and she made a call before handing us a golden ticket.

—With this, you may enter the King’s castle and care for his children today, for two hours. I wish you luck. Return by 7 p.m. for the bath.

We replied:
—Alright, miss. We’ll do our best to take care of the King’s children.

And so, we set off for the King’s castle, united as one, ready to take on the task of caring for the royal children.
