Chapter 31:

Morning Whispers And Stolen Kisses

Tale Of Tails: A Girl From Earth

The sun slowly awakens, the morning is fresh and just right for a new beginning.
Evander knocks on Harmony’s door.

“May I come in?”

“Of course,” Harmony replies, slightly smiling but still lazy from sleep. Her ears twitch subtly, sensing even the smallest movement from Evander—his step unmistakably his, unlike anyone else’s.

Evander steps slowly into the room, as if every movement is directed toward her. His eyes settle on Harmony, sitting on the edge of the bed, slightly tousled, yet still enchanting.

He enters with a playful spark in his eyes and says,
“Good morning, kitty.”

Harmony looks at him in surprise, her ears slightly perked, her tail swaying gently. A sudden smile spreads across her face as she slowly approaches him.
“Did you just… call me kitty?” she asks, with a hint of laughter in her voice.

Evander smiles teasingly, as if he knows exactly the effect his words have.
“Of course… who else would I call that? Only you,” he says, his voice full of gentle warmth.

Harmony doesn’t hold back either. Her eyes shine, a mix of mischief and shyness.
“Hmmm… I should say something, but I’m not sure it’s proper to say it to a prince…”

Evander leans slightly closer, a smile on his face:
“I’m listening… If it’s for you, I promise there’s nothing forbidden.”

Harmony feels her heart beat faster, her tail swaying gently, her ears alert. Laughter bubbles through her words:
“Hm, I think you’re a bad doggy today.”

Evander coughs lightly and pauses, surprised by her direct tone. Then he laughs:
“I… really wasn’t expecting that.”

Harmony leans forward slightly, placing a playful smile on his face:
“Admit it, it worked well.”

They both laugh, the sound soft, full of closeness and warmth. Their hearts race, yet the feeling is light and playful. In that moment, it feels as though the world around them has frozen—only their laughter and closeness exist.

Evander leans even closer, almost whispering:
“Maybe I only misbehave when you’re around.”

Harmony leans closer too, her eyes shining with playfulness. Suddenly, she moves toward Evander and steals a kiss, short but full of tenderness. When she pulls back, she looks at him with a soft smile and says,
“Good morning…”

Evander gently takes her hand and whispers:
“I think today will be very special… because of you.”

Harmony smiles, a soft purr escaping her throat, gentle and peaceful—a sound that tells him she is truly happy. Both feel the calm and joy filling them before the day has even begun.

As the kiss and their quiet smiles settle, Harmony shrugs lightly and says,
“Well, Prince Evander… are we just going to stand here today, or are you actually going to invite me for a walk?”

Evander smiles, stepping half a step closer and gently lifting her chin with his finger:
“I didn’t dare disturb your… morning cat elegance.”

Harmony laughs, her tail playfully curling around his legs.
“Elegance, you say? Well, now you’re obliged to let me show it to the whole kingdom.”

Evander leans in as if to steal another kiss, but stops at the last moment, smiling, and instead offers his hand:
“Then let’s go before you change your mind.”

They walk through the palace to the bridge over a small pond, bathed in morning light. The water gleams like silver, nearby children are chasing butterflies, and the air is full of calm and freshness.

Harmony pauses in the middle of the bridge, her ears flicking at every sound carried by the breeze.
“I never imagined it could be so… quiet, so peaceful after everything that happened.”

Evander takes her hand, his canine ears twitch slightly as he looks at her with warmth in his eyes:
“And for this, our whole world will always be grateful to you.”

Harmony feels a warmth spreading through her at his words. She purrs softly, almost shyly, enough for Evander to smile and hold her hand tighter.
The bridge is wrapped in the morning silence. Mist still lingers over the river, tiny drops of dew glisten on the wooden planks, and the first sunlight gently filters through the trees. Evander stands by the railing, Harmony beside him, both still yesterday’s selves—tired, yet filled with the warmth that draws them closer together.

Their fingers brush almost by accident. Harmony’s tail wraps softly around his ankle, as if her own instinct reveals how much she wants him near. Her ears twitch, catching every beat of his breath, every sound of his heart echoing nearby.

Evander turns to her. His canine ears rise, his tail sways gently—a sign he is completely captivated. His brown eyes are deep, and Harmony sees longing in them, but also fear: the fear of losing her, even though he is now beside her.

“Harmony…” he whispers, his voice filled with all the pain and tenderness he has carried.
She lifts her gaze, ears softly tilted forward, eyes gentle, shining with unspoken love. “Evander… I’m here. And I’m not going anywhere.”

When she says this, his heart slips out of its armor. He steps closer, placing his hands on her face. Her lips are just a breath away.

Harmony feels her heart racing faster, and without holding back, she leans forward. Their lips meet in a kiss, at first gentle, tentative, but soon deeper, more passionate.

Evander wraps his arms around her, holding her close as if she were everything that exists. His tail coils around hers, only confirming that he is completely hers.

Harmony hears her own surprised purring spilling into the kiss. At first, she opens her eyes wide, then laughs into his lips, blushing at the realization. Evander pulls back just enough to speak, his voice slightly husky with laughter and passion:
“Don’t stop.”

“I won’t… this is just for you,” she whispers, ears tilted forward, cheeks red.

Then he lifts her off the bridge as if she weighs nothing, spins her gently, and kisses her again—this time without restraint, deeply, passionately, like a promise that every battle, every fear, every day will be worth it if he has her.

Harmony feels energy radiating from both of them—their golden-white light and his blue intertwining like two breaths. The bridge feels like it’s floating in that light, and both know: this was not just a kiss. This was the beginning of something greater.

When Evander sets her back on the ground, Harmony still feels her body trembling from the kiss. Her ears are warm, her tail wraps around his waist, completely instinctively. Her eyes shine.

Evander notices her flushed face and slightly widened eyes. His canine ears twitch forward and back, his tail still swaying with uncontainable joy.
“You know,” he says playfully, “I never imagined that a cat’s purring could calm me and pull me closer to you at the same time.”

Harmony blushes even more. “I can’t stop, even if I wanted to.”

Evander laughs, his voice deep, warm, and sincere. He gently moves a strand of hair from her face with his hand. “If that’s your way of showing you’re happy… then I’ll make sure you purr every day.”

Harmony smiles shyly, ears tilted forward, eyes soft. “Really? So you’ll be my reason to always be happy?”

“Always,” he whispers, kissing her again, slowly, lingering, as if with every touch he wants to capture her purring and keep it just for himself.

When the kiss ends, Harmony rests her forehead against his, her tail curling around his waist completely unconsciously. Her eyes shine.
