Chapter Forty Nine: The Queen's Voice

How can this be? I thought dragons were forbidden from flying by their king or something. How in the world is Duddul able to fly………..???
Wait. Could it be that he freaked out on me because he wanted to boost himself with my blood? That would explain why he saved me just in time before the attack hit.
Anyway, I’m really glad that we managed to evade that. And most importantly, now that we can fly, fighting this monster in the air will be a breeze.
“Let’s go!!” feeling pumped up, I pointed my sword at the monster who has left the area he destroyed and is flying above the trees deeper into the forest away from the barrier.
“RRRNNN!!!!!!!!!”
Even though Duddul has calmed down, he was still in his berserk form.
Strong! Strong! The wind is so strong!
Duddul flew with speed that I’ve never witnessed before. In the little time I ordered him to go; we came face to horn with the monster.
“GRRAA!!!” Duddul opened his mouth and released a huge breath of red shot. It was nothing like his usual shot. This time around, it was similar to a real dragons breath. The red flame coming from his mouth engulfed the monster whole.
“GUUUUUUAAA!!” He cried out when the flames hit him.
This……. this is the first time Duddul’s attack had an effect on him.
The monster dashed away after that and continued going deep over a hundred meters above the forest. It was running away from us. But sadly for it, Duddul was now much faster. I almost fell off from the incredible speed he flew with.
It seems he’s not listening to me anymore. He knows that he shouldn’t harm me, but aside from that; his actions are still not counted.
Closing in on the monster, Duddul fired another huge shot at him “GRRAA!!” Within the time it took for him to fire that shot, the freezer disappeared then appeared above us. Duddul passed him when he evaded the shot.
I thrust my sword up at him the minute I felt his shadows. His thick legs were already pressed against my shoulder by then.
“GAAM!” he stomped on me.
The force kicked me off Duddul who gained his altitude a second later. I continued to fall towards the ground at a very high speed.
No………..!!!!
“BAAM!” I crashed into the ground from over a hundred meters in the sky.
“AARRGH!!!
What’s this……..? why is this happening to me again……..?
Even though I have a hardening ability that strengthens my defence; I took the full pain of that attack.
My ribs broke. My neck became stiff like a board and I couldn’t move a muscle. This is the same feeling as when that eagle monster dropped me.
Why do things always end up like this?
Duddul continued the fight without coming for me. A red aura oozed out of his body as he let out his barrage of red flames. The speed and flames are his major skills. He can also hit an enemy with his body but against the big freezer, that didn’t work.
Despite the outburst of energy that took control over him, Duddul was no match for the freezer. I watched from inside the ground with my eyes as the fight took place above me.
Five minutes later, the fight ended in the freezer’s favor. He froze Duddul in midair and allowed him to fall on his own when his horn grew brighter and he shot a light wave at him.
“Grrnnn…..!” Duddul weakly grunted. The blast took him to the ground just like me.
And without waiting for Duddul to recover; the freezer spun in the air like a tornado with his horn aimed at Duddul.
If he were to send that attack then the force will reach as far as where I was lying down motionless. How strong can this monster get?
“BAAAAAM!!!!” The attack hit Duddul dead on. The force shook the ground and the strong wave of energy that resulted from it destroyed the ground as far as where I was.
The force pushed me out of the ground. I crashed on a tree then hit the ground.
I still couldn’t move my body.
“COUGH COUGH” I faintly coughed. The leaves below me made a soft bedding for me. I could only wait for my body to repair the damages.Is this the extent of my strength?
{No it’s not.}
….……….? I could have sworn I heard a voice answer my question. I must be reaching my end.
Why is it that I had to go through all this just to defeat a single monster?
{It’s because you didn’t wish for it.}
That voice again.
The voice is that of a girl’s. it’s so calm and confident in replying to my thoughts.
Who are you? Am I hearing things?
{No you are not. You failed to defeat that monster because you didn’t wish for it.}
You want me to wish for his defeat? What kind of logic is that? I know my wishes mostly come true, but how can a monster be defeated just because of that?
{It simply will happen when you wish for it.}
I see……… who are you anyway?
{I am me. You gave me my name. I am the one who brought you into this world. Your mission still awaits you. But in order to start your mission, you have to become strong. That is why I gave you that power.}
‘That’ power? Which power?
{Your power………. I want you to know this; no matter what difficulties lie ahead of you, I want you to know that you are strong. Very strong. You are the one who will save me and bring change to this world. Never forget that.}
This is all vague to me. What are you trying to say?

“Oh, it was just a dream.” I opened my eyes and sat up. My injuries completely healed.
What was that weird dream? And that girl, who was she? I always dream about a girl in situations like this. Could this girl be the one I saw yesterday? The girl in black that sat on that black throne? No it cant be. I’m just imagining things.
“GAAM! GAAM! GAAM!”
I felt a vibration in the ground. The ground vibrated every few seconds. It seemed like something was hitting the ground very strongly.
NO………. “Duddul!!”Remembering about him, I quickly dashed off to the location he fell.
The landscape had completely changed again. The trees have all been plucked clean from the ground where the spinning attack happened. All that was left was a huge hole in the ground. In the middle of that hole was the winged freezer.
He hovered in a few meters in the air then dropped his weight on the ground. Something seemed to be under in the small hole below him.
“It cant be!!!!!” there was no other explanation. It had to be Duddul under there.
“How dare you…….!!!!!!” I screamed out really loud.
My head felt dizzy. I felt intoxicated. A sudden burst of strength enveloped me. A black aura formed around me. Everywhere the dark particles that consisted of my aura touched; disappeared.
“I wont forgive you for this……….”
In that intoxicated state of mind; I walked down the hole like a drunkard. My sword had turned completely black it was sparkling from the darkness. It seemed as though anything my sword touched would be absorbed by it.
“GUUUUUUAAA!!” The freezer cried turning his attention to me.
“You wont get away with this!!”
The freezer flew towards me with speed. He started spinning before he reached me. It was a horizontal spin this time around.
“KZIIIIINK!!” His horn met with my sword when he attacked.
I raised my sword with one hand and stopped him. The wind was so strong and the wave of energy could be seen coming out from his body.
In his spinning state, he let out a grunting sound “GUUAAA!!” when he began slowing down.
“THUD!” He fell to the ground on his knees. His horn was removed cleanly from his neck.
“This is the end for you……”
Even on his knees, he was taller than me.
Weaving my sword in the air, I aimed for his right leg and slashed. The leg came off. Black blood squirted from his cut and poured on the ground.
“GUUUUUUUAAAAAAA!!!!” he cried once more.
I aimed at his left leg again when he jumped into the sky. His wings flapped fiercely and he quickly gained altitude.
A second later, he flew away from me. He aimed at the direction I came out from where there are still trees. He was planning on running away. He didn’t fly as high as the trees.
“No you don’t!”
I held my sword like a spear and aimed perfectly at him before he could disappear.
“HIYAH!” I threw it.
It penetrated the air like a bullet. The air split from where the sword passed. In a split second, the sword was stuck to his hind leg.
“GUUAA!” He lost altitude and fell.
I jumped over to him before he touched the ground. I grabbed the sword from his leg and cut it off.
Just like I slashed away the eagle that time; my sword cut through his flesh like butter. Black blood spurted from each cut.
Even as I cut his body, his wings flapped. He was going to take to the sky if nothing was done.
These are the wings that caused me trouble.
In a single swing of the sword, I cut his wings from the base. They glowed and disappeared in my hand. They were the second wings I absorbed.
His grunts became weak. He had no limbs to support him. No limbs, no head, and no wings. Only his body laid on the ground moving fiercely.
Guess monsters don’t die that easily.
“Beg for you life all you want. I wont forgive you.”
“GAAM GAAM” he hopped on the ground like a bunny with nothing but his body.
I jumped up in the air and landed on him. He collided with a tree and knocked it over.
This is the end.
I thrust my sword deep inside him and divided him into two. The blood spurted and covered my eyes. Aside from the blood that came out, his insides were pitch black without a single intestine.
Die!!
I jumped of and slashed away at him until he completely disappeared and dropped a stone twice the size of the usual ones. My hands moved so fast I couldn’t see them. I picked up the stone. It disappeared into my hand when I touched it.
Finishing him off, I turned my attention to Duddul. I jumped back into the hole and found him motionless in the middle of it. He was in another hole inside the big one.
I didn’t hesitate for a moment when I cut my finger. The blood dripped out and I got on my knees. Duddul was still alive. His body was a mess. Bones broken and joints dislocated. Part of his body was flattened by the weight. He breathed faintly with his eyes closed.
“here……….” I stuck my bloodied finger in his mouth.
Before I could pull it out, smoke came out from his body. It was so hot like a volcano. His body became even more red. I pulled away from him and watched.
Right before my eyes, his flattened body began filling up. His eyes opened and before the smoke stopped coming out, Duddul jumped up high into the sky.
“GGGRRRRRRRRRRRNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNN!!!!!!!” He screamed. His scream made the ground quake.
Every flap of his wings sent down a heavy wind to the ground. He was more berserk than he was before.
His eyes turned to me. His mouth opened and red light started coming together in his mouth.
“Please………… stop it.” the moment I said that, his mouth and eyes closed. He slowly dropped to the ground and crashed in it.
I’ve defeated the freezer and saved Duddul. Why do I feel empty?
This power is not mine. Why was I only able to defeat him using this black sword. I looked at the sword in my hand when it slowly returned to it’s original form. The black aura surrounding me also disappeared.
I sat there in that hole close to Duddul and closed my eyes. I waited for him to wake up so that we could leave.
