Chapter 6:

Tears and Desires

The Legend Of Black Knight

With every hair on his body now standing on end, in despair, Satoru began to run faster and faster, as his enemy's footsteps could be heard approaching. Coming out of the cave, Satoru could see that sky of gray clouds, looking for his sword, he found it lying on the edge of rocks.

Without much time to think, he walked over and picked it up, but a morbid smell made his belly feel like vomiting, without much time left he looked to the side, and there he saw something that shocked him.

A crushed body, with a broken bow, not believing what he saw, he closed his eyes and prayed that the soul of the person he barely knew would find peace. Not having much time to mourn Victor's death, Satoru adjusted his legs so that there was space between them, and with his knees bent firmly, he raised his sword to front height as he aimed theblade forward.

Anxious and breathing heavily, his enemy finally arrived, holding only a club that Satoru already knew, the green giant seemed to look surprised at the human who held the sword.Which made Satoru question the reason for the surprise, but this was not the time for it, so he controlled his breathing and kept his guard up.

"AAAAAAAAAAAAAARGH!!!"

As if trying to intimidate his opponent, the giant roared.

Struggling not to lose his cool, wandering through his thoughts, the young man focused on maintaining the posture he was already used to having to use so many times during his life. The giant just looked at it angrily and roared again

as he ran, making the ground shake with his infuriated steps. When the two were going to meet, in one simple move, Satoru raised his sword then lowered it and cut the enemy, but he made two mistakes.

Thinking that it would be as easy as in a fair championship dispute, the lack of experience in real combat condemned him to not being able to predict that even if the blow hit, it might not print the result that Satoru wanted so much.

His most fatal mistake was ignoring the physical difference between them, strength, weight, height, and ability. Realizing all this, it was too late, his body was now crushed and dragged by the force of the enemy, who sent him flying again exactly like the last time.

⊛⊛⊛Not knowing why his mind wandered again in the void, but this time it was different, there was no memory to remember but a petro world that seemed to move. The feeling was the same as floating adrift in the sea, as if nothing else made sense, slowly, his mind let go, the feeling of everything being lost took his mind.

“Satoru…”

Amidst the vastness of darkness, a voice can be heard in the distance, calling him, but from the one who is lost, he has not answered.

"Satoru, don't give up!"

The same voice reverberated again, the young man then moved his head to the right side and looked even though he didn't seem to have much interest.

"If you give up, how are the people in the village?"

On the endless horizon, a faceless gray figure had a familiar voice to the boy, but he couldn't make out who it was. Soon the dark world trembled, thus shaking all over, bringing the boy out of his depressing state.

Not understanding what was happening, he got up and when he looked at where the figure should be, a light began to obscure everything. Breathing heavily, Satoru woke up again, this time he was still outside, but not on the mountain where Victor's body was, but on the ground back in the forest, because his body was light and the beating was very strong, perhaps it was shameful to admit it, but Satoru was no different from a tiny boulder that could be thrown considerable distances.

Having no sign of the enemy, it couldn't be his sword either, but what the voice had said reminded Satoru that there were more urgent things to be dealt with.

Looking up first wondering how high he had fallen, then lowering his head and starting to check his body, he didn't look broken or bruised. Which was too weird, or maybe even weirder that he was still alive. Seeing that standing still and thinking would get nowhere, he turned in the direction he thought was the right one and began to run.

Lots of things were weird and Satoru had never realized it like his body wasn't feeling weather changes and just kept at the usual temperature.

Or the fact that he didn't seem to get tired, even running for minutes at a time, his mind seemed to be too focused to even think about how strange he'd become and separated himself from the concept of an ordinary human being.

⊛⊛⊛

Hours later, Satoru continued to run, the moon at the top of the sky along with all the other stars that filled the vastness of space.

Running through the dead forest, hoping to protect people, made him ignore the fact that he didn't know how to convince people? How would he explain Victor not coming back to him? Who would guarantee that they won't charge him with murder?

No matter how noble his intentions were, no one would believe him with a merely sentimental argument. Focused on running, he was getting closer and closer to his destination, however, what he saw on the horizon made him have a bad feeling, on the horizon heading towards the sky.

It was smoke with dim lights where smoke was coming out, with the worst in mind, Satoru quickened his pace even more. His veins and muscles tensed with ash being hurled everywhere.

Before he even realized it, the village was getting closer and closer at a very fast speed. With this, his overview of what was happening in that place also became clearer, what he most feared had happened, the village was under attack.

The few remaining houses were now burning in flames, the sound of horses trotting through the place was easy to hear. When he finally reached the village, the vision was even worse, the body of the old man and his son who supported him were now there dead with ashes covering their corpses little by little.

Even saddened by the scene in front of him, there was a man and a little girl that he needed to confirm that they were well, so he went ahead and went to Yurien's house.

But now his legs seemed to have returned to normal, however, if letting go for the moment, thoughts and more thoughts overflowed in his mind, whose fear predominates over the other emotions.

Not understanding where so much affection for people he barely knew came from, it wasn't something Satoru would normally have, especially living so isolated for some time that only when he lost the people he loved most, he might never see them again, it's that he then missed, his parents, his club teacher and even friends he suddenly stopped talking to.

Upon arriving at the house, Satoru saw it on fire, with the sounds of flames and wood crackling as it burned, he clenched his hands, not wanting to believe his own mind.

"Uncle Satoru?"

Scared by the voice calling him, he suddenly turned to see where he was coming from, hidden inside a half-decayed house, there was the brown-haired girl, Envy, scared and red-eyed probably from crying.

Relieved to see Envy still alive, he went to where she was hiding, entering the place, he saw another figure, it was Yurien sitting, her appearance was quite degrading.

"Cough... Cough... so, it was you boy, what happened to Victor?" Yurien was coughing heavily, his health wouldn't take much longer all the smoke and ash that was in the air, his lungs were reaching their limit.

-He...he died in an attack, I didn't have a chance... -Not knowing how to explain the situation, Satoru remembered the giant, was in fact a monstrous being, a person even he had no chance of winning.

"I see... Cough... I know I have no right to ask you too much, but please get my granddaughter out of here." With fearful eyes, there wasn't much left for Yurien to do now.

"Grandpa..."

Satoru was silent about the situation in which he was being put, Envy, on the other hand, had tears running down her face, this situation must have been something unimaginable for a child to pass. Hesitant about having to separate her granddaughter from her grandfather, what Satoru overheard made her heart sink even more.

"Don't worry young man, I don't have much time left anyway, I tried to throw you to your death, you don't have to help this old man, but please don't let my granddaughter's life end here… cough… for please save her."

“Damn, why does it always end like this?!”

Angry at the situation and himself, Satoru squeezed what little willpower he had left, and grabbed Envy's arm.

"No, wait, grandpa is still there, grandpa… GRANDPA!"

Trying to resist, the kid struggled and screamed, but the strength of the one who dragged her out was greater.

She didn't want to get away from the person who loved her and always cared for her, however, the smile her grandfather made as he cried watching his granddaughter go away, created a feeling in Envy that she had never felt before.

The kid didn't know yet, however, the boy was suffering as much as she was, in such a short time he had gone through so many extreme situations that he could only laugh at his self before coming to this world.

Running with the girl, Satoru didn't know where to run, only at that moment, he had a bigger problem, the riders. They circle the entire village, if the two are caught, who knows what could happen.

When he remembered everything he saw in Beren's mind, he recalled that the main objective was Hilda, the village would be just another means of attracting her here, but in the end, it didn't matter so much, as in Beren's memories even an isolated village was wiped out for trying to defend some beast-men.

Observing the position of each soldier, Satoru made sure to keep Envy close as he moved, his plan was very simple, move as close as possible to near the end of the village, after that he would take the little girl on his lap and run away. as much as he could.

While waiting for the guard to drop where he was, Satoru saw Envy curled up looking at the ground. Apprehensively, he sat down on the floor, his head resting against what was left of the wall of a house.

"Excuse me."

It was no big deal what he had to say, Satoru just didn't want to feel bad anymore for simply forcing her to leave her grandfather's side, even though he knew it would be for her good.

Envy, wiping her tears, said nothing and sat down beside him, her nose still running, she seemed to have calmed down more. But suddenly, she grabbed Satoru's arm and rested her head on his arm.

"Don't… sniff… leave me alone…"

Hearing that husky voice asking for it, Satoru raised his head, the feeling of fear of loneliness, not wanting to be alone, but doing it anyway, it was Satoru's mistake to think about running away every time.

Not noticing the time passing, the two had calmed down, but the enemy was still there. As they got up, the plan should continue if they were to have any hope of following through, however, a sound of something crossing the air and a dizzying pain caused everything to be thrown into the air.

"Aah!"

"Uncle!"

With pain, Satoru didn't even understand Envy's voice, as his knee had been hit by an arrow, not understanding where it came from, the question was soon answered with two mounted soldiers, one from the front, the other from behind.

⊛⊛⊛

Taken by force, Satoru and Envy, newly captured, now found themselves before the leader of those soldiers, whose Satoru already knew, Invor, the captain in charge of Beren's mission. A strong man with brown hair and eyes of the same color, his armor did not boast so much, but he will reach this position through several battles fought.

Wondering why they'd come so soon, as Beren's time wasn't up yet, his thoughts were interrupted by a punch.

"UNCLE!"

"Quiet! Or your uncle here will suffer more!" Said Invor with holding Satoru's hair.

In pain, the young man glared at the captain, but he could do nothing.

"Now tell me, boy, where is the devil, if you don't answer, the little girl will answer in your place."
The soldier looked at her the way a hunter looks at prey. Angrier still, Satoru didn't know what could happen, but if he didn't walk right away he knew the soldiers didn't hesitate to do what they say.

"I...I don't know."

"Eh? As you don't know, it looks like someone doesn't care so much about the girl!", said Invor who waved his hand, so all the soldiers prepared their weapons.

 "Last chance, where is she?"

"I TOLD YOU I DON'T KNOW! EVEN BEREN DIDN'T KNOW, WHY WOULD I KNOW?" Losing his temper, Satoru began to shout out.

"Oh, so it was you, it fits perfectly with the description, aside from the scary part, let's tell me, how can a skinny like you put so much fear in a person?"

The captain suddenly cracked a smile, he scratched his chin while he spoke mocking the person in front of him.

"What are you talking about?"

"What do you mean? Didn't you make Beren run scared like a scared little girl? Hey, hey, tell me, how did you break his arm?"

"I didn't do it!" Satoru exclaimed lowering his head, he didn't want to accept that."Really? Too bad, well, kill him, the little girl will have to do," announced the captain, who turned and started to walk away.

“Hey, let me go! UNCLE, HELP!" Envy flailed and screamed.

Satoru tried to get up, but a kick hit him straight in the face, down he screamed, but all he got was something sharp through his back, feeling the blood rise, he wanted to protect the girl more than anything, it was the least he could do, but he couldn't even do that.

(Please, I beg you, once, just once, give me strength to save her, please)

He begged for what he didn't know what it was but that inhabited his body, but the thing seemed to do nothing, he felt his mind slip away, before his eyes closed, a shadow descended from the sky and his mind darkened once more.
