Chapter 54:
Crazy Putter: An Isekai Mini Golf Story
The League Tower stood silent in the early morning light, its grand spires stretching into the pale sky. Inside, the Guardians moved with a quiet urgency, each processing the recent battle against the Abyssal Rift in their own way.
Mike sat alone in the observation chamber, gazing out over the sprawling greens that stretched beyond the Tower’s walls. The once-vibrant fields seemed subdued, touched by a lingering shadow.
His thoughts were heavy.
“The Abyssal Rift was sealed,” he murmured, “but what if it wasn’t the source… but a symptom?”
Kaelis entered silently, her eyes reflecting concern and wisdom beyond measure.
“You’re right to wonder,” she said softly. “The Abyssal Rift is but a fracture in a much larger wound—one that has been bleeding since the beginning of the Game.”
Mike turned, meeting her gaze.
“What do you mean?”
Kaelis stepped closer, unfurling an ancient tome from her satchel. Its pages were fragile, inscribed with arcane symbols and faded illustrations.
“This,” she said, “is the Chronicle of Origins. It tells of the true birth of the Game—and the darkness that sought to consume it before the first Guardians rose.”
The room dimmed as Kaelis began to recite the tale, her voice carrying the weight of forgotten ages.
“In the beginning, before the multiverse took form, there was the Primordial Void—a place of endless potential and chaos. From this void emerged the Game’s first spark: the Seed of Balance, a force of pure intention and connection.
“But lurking within the void was a shadow—an ancient entity known as the Null Sovereign. It sought to unravel the Seed, to return all creation to chaos.
“The earliest Guardians rose to defend the Seed. They forged the first greens, establishing the rules and harmonies that would govern the multiverse.
“Yet the Null Sovereign was cunning. It fractured itself into pieces of pure corruption, hiding within the shadows of the game. One such fragment became The Corruptor; another, Nyxaris; and now… the Abyssal Rift.
“But the largest fragment remains hidden—the true heart of the Null Sovereign’s power. It waits, patient, to consume the Game whole.”
Mike’s heart clenched.
“So this is bigger than any of us imagined.”
Kaelis nodded.
“And the stakes could not be higher.”

The Guardians gathered in the strategy room, the walls lined with maps and runic charts.
Mike addressed the team.
“We’ve faced fragments of the Null Sovereign—The Corruptor, Nyxaris, the Abyssal Rift. But the core is still out there.”
Riven frowned. “How do we fight something that’s more idea than entity?”
Kaelis replied, “By finding its anchor—something tangible in this multiverse that contains its essence.”
Zari studied the maps. “There’s an ancient place called the Nexus of Realms. It’s said to be a convergence point where the fabric of the multiverse is thinnest.”
Nova’s eyes gleamed. “If the Null Sovereign’s heart is anchored there, we have to get ahead of it.”
Mira’s echoes shimmered in agreement. “It’s a dangerous place—many have tried to reach it and failed.”
Mike nodded, resolve firming.
“We have no choice. The Game’s fate depends on it.”
The team prepared their gear, reinforcing their connection to the greens and sharpening their skills.
The portal to the Nexus shimmered into existence—a swirling vortex of color and light.
One by one, the Guardians stepped through, leaving the safety of the League Tower behind.
The Nexus was unlike any place they had seen.
Endless portals hovered in the air, each leading to different realities—some familiar, others alien.
The very air buzzed with raw energy, the rules of the Game flickering like a dying flame.
Zari reached out, feeling the thrum of countless realities converging.
“This place is unstable,” she warned. “If we’re not careful, we could be trapped here forever.”

As they ventured deeper, the Guardians encountered remnants of lost realms—echoes of worlds consumed by corruption or collapsed under chaos.
Mira’s echoes reached out to these fragments, trying to piece together what had happened.
“They all fell to the Null Sovereign’s influence,” she said quietly. “Each a warning—and a beacon.”
Nova used her telekinesis to stabilize the shifting platforms beneath them, while Clunk’s strength forged paths through crumbling bridges.
Jax and Flix kept a vigilant watch, their shots piercing the shadows that lurked.
Riven’s mind raced, analyzing every detail, searching for clues to the Null Sovereign’s anchor.
Mike led with steady courage, guiding the team through the swirling chaos.
At the Nexus’s center, the team found a colossal crystal—dark as the void, pulsating with malevolent energy.
Kaelis stepped forward.
“This is the Null Core—the anchor of the Null Sovereign’s power.”
Suddenly, the crystal cracked, and a figure emerged—a towering shadow, shifting and writhing with ancient malevolence.
“I am the Null Sovereign,” it intoned, voice like a storm tearing through reality.
“You cannot stop the inevitable.”
The Null Sovereign’s power warped the Nexus, twisting the portals into chaotic storms.
The Guardians fought with all their might.
Mike wielded the Seed of Balance, its light cutting through the darkness.
Mira’s echoes multiplied, confusing the Sovereign’s senses.
Nova’s telekinetic shields held firm against crushing blows.
Jax and Flix’s coordinated shots struck with precision.
Clunk’s might shattered shadowy limbs.
Zari’s foresight guided every move.
Riven’s cunning disrupted the Sovereign’s attacks.
As the battle reached its peak, the Null Sovereign unleashed a wave of corruption, threatening to overwhelm them.
Mike realized the only way to defeat it was to unite their powers fully.
“Together!” he called.
The Guardians linked their energies, channeling the purest intentions of play—hope, connection, fairness, and joy—into a beam of radiant light.
The Null Sovereign screamed, its form unraveling as the light pierced its core.
The crystal shattered, the Nexus stabilizing.
But the effort had taken a toll.
Kaelis collapsed, her life force entwined with the ancient magic she’d used.
Mike caught her, sorrow and gratitude in his eyes.
“You saved us all,” he whispered.
Her smile was faint but full of peace.
“Keep playing with heart. The Game lives because of you.”

The multiverse breathed easier.
The Null Sovereign was no more, but the scars remained.
Mike and the Guardians knew the journey was far from over.
Balance was fragile, and the Game would always face threats.
But as long as they played with unity and intention, they would endure.
Mike looked at his team—family forged in battle.
“Let’s keep playing. For the multiverse.”
