Chapter 38:

Chapter 39: The Last Supper Before Beginning the Final Training

I Reincarnated with My Childhood Friend as Magical Girls

We were sitting down, waiting for everything to be ready. Only thirty minutes remained before the fusion ended and we separated. We could already see the food being prepared, and then the cook asked if we wanted to start eating early.

—Ahem, no thank you. We’d rather wait for the others so we can all eat together. It’s no problem for me to eat a little later, but thank you for the offer, miss.

The cook smiled and replied:
—I see. You’re a very mature and respectful girl toward your elders… or rather, I should say you all are, for being only twelve years old each.

We were surprised. How had she realized we were a fusion of five Magical Girls? So we asked her:
—But… how did you know that, miss? We didn’t tell you anything about it.

She responded with a calm, almost knowing tone:
—I can tell many things just by observing. I noticed you were a fusion because of your multiple voices speaking at once. You’ll need to work on that if you truly want to become strong, young ladies. Well, I should return to cooking—the rest of the guild will arrive soon for dinner.

She returned to the kitchen to finish preparing the meal. We were left reflecting on her words, wondering how we could improve. Meanwhile, the delicious smell of food filled the air. It reminded me of ravioli from my previous world.

By 8:30, something happened that none of us expected. A pink aura sphere surrounded us, and suddenly the fusion ended—we were separated again.

All of us were stunned.

Each girl spoke about what she had felt during the fusion:

—I can’t believe that was what fusion feels like. It’s incredible! I don’t even know how to describe it in words. —Mizu said, still shaken.

—It’s like being with several people at once, in the same space, feeling everything they feel, like we were all connected in one single being. —Rem spoke while trying to catch her breath.

—It’s like a combined elemental magic so powerful that you can’t even explain it to someone who hasn’t experienced it. —Akane added, deep in thought about what we’d do next time.

—It’s… amazing. So amazing that I don’t even know if I want to experience it again. —Mizuki admitted, exhausted after the adrenaline rush.

—This is what we were searching for. With this, we can finally defeat the Demon Queen. If multiple teams of Magical Girls fuse together, we could form an unstoppable Mega Team! —Akane said, brimming with excitement at the possibilities.

Once we calmed down, we sat together at the same table. The atmosphere turned more serious, and each of us shared our thoughts about what needed to be done.

—I think we should join forces with Ranma, the other Elite Magical Girls, and even some of the less powerful ones. Together, we could create that Mega Team and defeat all the demons, and then take down the Demon Queen. —Mizuki spoke calmly.

Then Mizu said something inspiring:
—Alright then. We’ll have to be strong enough to win this war. Together, nothing and no one will be able to stop the Magical Girls. As a team, we can achieve the impossible. Let’s use the power of fusion to save humanity. No evil demon or wretched witch queen will ever take away our hope of living in peace. Humanity will survive this, and this world will finally know peace.

Her words lifted our spirits. At that moment, Ranma and the other girls arrived for dinner. The cook asked us all to line up. We each received our portion of food and juice. Dinner here at the guild was always shared, like a family meal.

The night was calm, filled only with the distant sounds of carriages and owls under the moonlight. The food was as delicious as always.

Ranma looked at me and said:
—I see you enjoy eating here. Honestly, the food tastes even better when we all share it. It feels like we’re one big family. That helps me cope with the loss of my parents. I lost them when I was fourteen. They were kidnapped during a mission, and I couldn’t save them. Since then, I decided to grow stronger every day, to honor their memory and let them rest peacefully in paradise. But I know you still have your parents. Treasure them—they love you as much as you love them.

I didn’t know what to say at first. I remembered my parents from my previous world. And I realized that in this new world, where I had been sent to save it, I had been given a second chance to live with parents again. Some people hate their parents without realizing how lucky they are to have good ones. They may annoy you or not always get along, but nothing changes the fact that they’re your parents.

So I answered Ranma:
—I know, Ranma. I’m grateful every day to have them in my life. Even though right now I can’t be with them, I’d love nothing more than to step away from the guild and talk with them again. But I know I have an important mission as a Magical Girl. It won’t be easy, but I have to find the courage to see it through.

About thirty minutes later, dinner ended. Mizu, Akane, Rem, Mizuki, and I each returned to our rooms to rest. Tomorrow would be even harder than today. I lay down in bed, closed my eyes, and hoped for a beautiful dream to give me strength for what was to come.
