Chapter 16:

Taka

My will shall resonate in this stormy game

The revelation my lord gave us was disconcerting to say the least, but the promise was even more so.

“I offer you a chance for revenge, tell me, are you ready?”

“Yes,” a young man very close to me spoke. “I beg you, allow us to fight alongside you.”

"I like it that way, decisive as always." I reach out with the handcuffed hand of our oppressor and liberator. "Fulfill this request, and you'll not only see his furious face." The glow told us it was about to give it. "Leave and speak to your families, tell them I'm willing to welcome them under the name of the Sun House of the Lasha Empire."

The surprise only increased, and I'm sure I wasn't the only one who saw that moment with new eyes the young man who saved us from dying.

"And the moment someone wants to stop them, whoever it may be, they must set out to demand the justice they deserve. They will take the bastard and take him to the gallows where he shed the blood of his friends. Let him know that his evil has finally caught up with him, and if they even dare to stop, for whatever reason, Dawn's punishment will begin to slowly kill them."

Once the order was sealed, we all looked worried, since we were not warriors, but after a while he gave the order for us to leave and so we did. I went to see my family and told them what my new master had promised me. I helped put everything in order and we got ready to leave.

We gathered very easily, while we saw the guards there in front, the moment had arrived, we were in front and when they finally tried to stop us the electricity held us back for a moment, while I noticed how they were half fallen on the pio, I hurried and grabbed the weapon.

"Justice, we must do justice, everyone please, for those who stay, for those who will live poorly in our absence, follow me, to do justice." The young man again, and as the follower of the House of Sun said, decisive.

I saw that not only slaves were following him but also people coming out of their houses and I gathered my courage to head towards the house of the tribal chief or rather the new tribal chief.

After a while we arrived, we saw how they counted the coins, those who went ahead of me did not hesitate and dragged him and the slave trader towards the gallows, I did not feel any remorse or regret and if it were not for the fact that I claimed that we were followers of darkness enjoying the moment I would not have realized that I was also smiling.

“I'm telling you, they're killing me. Look at them, they're laughing. This isn't justice, this is evil.”

“In the name of Taka, we judge you unworthy to be the leader.” I cut the rope and the guillotine lowered, leaving the head rolling on the floor.

The people were dismayed and soon they clamored and we brought the next merchant who sold us and with that the young man put the chest in front.

“Look at it, your greedy ones, the sin of wanting from others what cannot be yours, stealing all this money in exchange for our lives.”

“Stop, I have more money, I'll give it to you, everything, I'll also free you, I can talk to the boy so he can free you.”

"I am proud to serve a master who upholds justice above all else," he exclaimed as he cut the rope. "Everyone gather your fortune, take everything that belonged to us, and those who are willing, follow me. The young man I now serve will bring fortune like we've never seen before. This mine is doomed."

There was so much truth in his words that I wouldn't even dare to say, and yet I seconded the affirmation of everyone around me at that moment.

Before I knew it, I was following his orders and proceeded to begin dismantling my own house. We would need a lot of materials, and I set about doing a check, just like when I was a mine manager. It had come so naturally to me, and there were people willing to follow my orders that I had no chance to refuse. The rush was truly great.

Shortly after, the young man approached me for a moment.

“Sir, you were always good to everyone, and although it’s a shame we lost this mine, I trust our new master will be better than the last.”

“I think the same.”

“If it’s true that he’s freeing us, I’ll follow him.” I look up at the sky, somewhat bewildered. “And you?”

"Don't dismantle my house just to build it back here." Use the same old joke about the ore carts.

“That’s how it is said, I will put everything in order, try to be the same.”

The only house not dismantled belonged to the tribal chief. Before the fool who condemned us, there were decent people. From what my parents told me and from what I heard from many elders, there was respect and resentment in me that I couldn't calm, and I left with some melancholy, but with every step I took, I felt liberated.

The five of us led the march, further back there was unrest and for a moment I felt the same, if it weren't for the shout that alerted us to our arrival we would have continued just as calm, but after the boy spoke again everything seemed to calm down and after our arrival he kept his promise we all took the necklaces on the floor and put them in the bag that we later gave to the young man, along with the coins that cost us our lives in the execution.

“Thank you very much, but I'm afraid we'll have to wait a bit until we greet Alba before we leave.”

“Yes, my lord… I have…”

“Abaddon, son of the house of Sol.”

At that moment, perhaps by luck or by Alba's wish, her head lit up, as we had always heard would be the case with the saints and if I was the only one I no longer cared, but my loyalty would be with Abaddon until the day Yami claimed me.

After greeting Alba, we set off, passing by a tribe to restock, she sold the necklaces and we got enough to continue our journey and with very planned directions, as if she knew the path by heart and after passing a cave with torches we arrived at a clearing in the forest that gave a sloping space and after reaching the bottom we saw a small river running alongside.

“Everyone, I know it’s been a long journey. I know you’ve regretted coming here more than ever. Some have abandoned us along the way. We will miss you, I have no doubt.” He climbed onto the carriage as we reached the final pass over the hill. “But our efforts today offer rewards you may never have imagined: a strong militia, materials for building houses, and, most importantly, a prosperous mine has been revealed to me here.” He shouted even louder. “We will follow Alba’s wishes with fervor, and in her name, the prosperity of our new tribe is a given!”

“By Abaddon, by the house of the sun!”

The idea soon caught on and I proclaimed the same name, but I raised my hand, the gesture I always made to ask for silence, and with that we all paid attention.

“Everyone, please calm down and listen. This isn’t thanks to my family; this is thanks to you. You decided to put your faith in a stranger, in a child who barely knows how to take care of himself, and more importantly, this tribe we founded will be made up of three leaders, a mixed tribe.”
