Chapter 18:

Ful

My will shall resonate in this stormy game

“People of the Mining Tribe, know that the name of your tribe cannot be placed on this one, because that is what the sacred scriptures dictate, and since this will be a mixed tribe, I want to call the two people who preside over the council of this tribe.” I indicated with my hands and they both approached to climb, Ari being the most aggressive and jumped to grab it and with a slight pirouette stood next to me, Jūni for her part, took the ladder and arrived more calmly, but she finally arrived. “We will be the judges and you, our people, have the right to choose what our name will be.”

“Why can’t we choose too?” Ari asks.

"Because we are the guides, not the masters, when the tribal leader is chosen, that will be the day we will have a suitable change so that he can participate in the activities of our illustrious people." There was nothing illustrious about him, but he couldn't say it out loud. "That said, you will discuss with the warriors and choose two names that you like best, and the same goes for you, young Jūni."

"Yeah".

"You don't just agree with each young person's proposal; you must develop your own reasoning. Just as Ari sets an example by questioning simple things, you too must see what you won't agree with in the future." I indicated with my palm, in what I judged to be a solemn gesture.

"I'm fine with it, and I don't know much about names to participate." He scratched his head, with what he now understood was a fake or forced smile at best.

“That being the case, I apologize for not being able to interpret your intentions.” I bowed slightly.

“Please don’t apologize, it’s my fault for not knowing how to express myself.”

“Humility aside, let's begin. Go with your people and discuss this issue.”

“We go up only to come down.”

"No, they've already been deliberating. They just need to wait for the names to be handed over and memorized. Our sole duty is to formalize the event in question."

He sat on the edge, while looking at the warriors and the same with the young man who waited for them to tell him the names, while everyone contemplated quite varied names, none convinced the majority and finally we had 2 names on each side and with that they gathered to tell me.

“We already decided.”

“Very well, please be patient, young man.”

“Yes, boy, we warriors go first.”

“To be precise, it’s the ladies who go first. It’s called courtesy, but both will be equally important in the end,” I clarified as I stepped forward.

"Now, our people, the warriors will announce their names first, and through me, everyone must decide whether they like them or not." It was the same old voting. "If you like the name, raise your soul hand." I raised my left hand, wishing I could simplify this process even more. "If you don't agree, simply don't perform any act, it's that simple." I gave the signal, and he came forward to say the name, and I heard him easily. "The first name is Espada, for those in favor." I raised my hand, more as a sign than because of interest, but it had the desired effect; almost half accepted the name.

“Okay, half of us seem to agree, we can put this aside now.”

"It wouldn't be a fair vote if we didn't allow the rest of the names to participate, miss, and I'm the final verdict, given the powers vested in me as Alba's representative in the tribe. My sign is merely symbolic after all."

“Fine,” he reluctantly agreed.

“Young man.” I gave the signal, and he came closer. He told me his name, and I proclaimed it louder so everyone could hear it. “The name is Metal,” I raised my left hand.

With that, a majority raised their hands again, while noticing a slight hesitation from the warriors, but also noticing 2 more than before.

“You just got lucky, the next one is better,” Ari complained, avoiding the crowd.

“Miss Ari.” He signaled and approached, along with the name. “The name is Osa.” I raised my left hand again, and it was starting to feel heavy. To my surprise, only the warriors raised their hands.

The event of discord was presented with ease, with the miners being a greater number their victory was assured and with that came a final stretch to this election.

“Very well, now, young man.” I gave the signal. He approached, told me his name, and I spoke again to everyone. “The name is Summer.” I raised my left hand, and to my surprise, not even half the miners raised their hands. A couple of warriors did, but they quickly lowered their hands when they noticed how their companions were looking at them. “Very well, now for the promised reward, child. You can come up and propose the name.”

The family helped the child up and pulled him up from under their arms, making his arrival easier. Everyone was surprised when he finally stood in front of so many people. But more importantly, some felt left out for not having the same opportunity, especially those who participated.

“Child, it’s time for your reward. Shout as loud as you can whatever name you like for our illustrious tribe. They will decide if they like whatever name you give them.”

I take a breath and puff out my chest before shouting, not as loudly as I expected. “FUL!” I gasp for air and laugh.

“Very well, those who agree, raise the hand of the Soul,” he raised his left hand, and with it, everyone was surprised to notice how only a few resentful people did not raise their hands.

"It will be," I clarified, clasping my hands behind my back. "Congratulations, young man. Now please go with your family and take this." With a little magic trick, I made the coin appear behind his ear, and he happily took it. "Congratulations! I'm sure you'll be a great speaker in the future." I stroked his head in recognition of this prediction and expressed as much joy as I could.

Soon his family claimed him up the stairs and down the sloping space that led to the cave and returned to the crowd, with that the problems more or less continued, because now the flag was necessary, if he wanted us to join the cursed kingdom more easily and I proceeded to give the last orders.

“Now that our tribe has decided on a name, the next important thing comes.” I turned to both leaders. “A flag.”

“Flag,” they both asked in unison.

“Exactly,” I laughed lightly and proceeded to look at the people again. “For my people, formalizing the rites requires a flag or tribal symbol. In this case, since there are three people involved, your leaders will come to you and you must propose an element for the flag, which I will have sewn for our tribe.” I clarified, and they got there first. “I mean, you must choose an object, or whatever you see fit for the flag—a mineral, a weapon, a food item, or whatever you like—but each of you can only choose one.” With that, I felt much calmer and proceeded to leave. “Be wise, this will represent our tribe to the Holy Kingdom.”

From the way they suddenly fell silent, I knew my threat had worked and with that I went to my seat, while preparing a sheet of paper and putting in some simple details, I found that the drawing was quite easy for me despite never having tried to draw, both in my previous life and in the present one and I soon remembered that my handwriting was also quite elegant.

"Not important, the fewer problems the better," I shook my head, shaking off the thought and dismissing what had happened as a mystery to be solved. "A silver shield, if that's better."

Shortly after the material that each one wanted arrived and with it my request to the commercial tribe that connected with us to a tailor with 2 star capacity, that guaranteed good capacity and materials, in addition to the fact that the payment was generous and a small corner in the records of my tribe, it was not a small thing either, but I returned with the supplies and the embroidered flag the next day, as planned and we continued looking with pride at the flag, a sword and a peak crossed behind a silver shield with a white sphere in the middle, I delivered the two remaining seals that I had made with the same craftsman and so we were officially a new tribe and fully entitled to work, I made a drawing at the beginning of the book for posterity and to the annotation of those of us who founded it, sending it along with the cloth and my zeal to the holy kingdom.
