Chapter 44:

A Promise Sealed In Light

Tale Of Tails: A Girl From Earth

Both of them slowly made their way toward the grand hall, every step filled with elegance and anticipation.

As the doors opened, the dog and cat people erupted in a chorus of joyous cheers. They recognized them instantly – the prince and the cat girl Harmony, who had finally returned home. Every gaze was filled with emotion, happiness, and respect.

Evander gently squeezed Harmony’s hand, reassuring her and whispering, “This is our moment. Your moment, Harmony.”

Harmony took a deep breath and smiled. She knew this would be a day she would never forget.

As they stepped into the hall, the room fell silent for a heartbeat before bursting into excitement once more. Every dog and cat inhabitant admired their presence: Harmony, radiant as a beautiful cat princess, and Evander, elegant as the noble dog prince. Their eyes met—just the two of them, as if the world had stopped. Sparks seemed to shimmer in every step they took.

Butterflies fluttered wildly in Harmony’s stomach when Evander looked at her with a smile that was both protective and full of love. His gaze told her more than a thousand words: At last we are together again—nothing can separate us now.

Behind them appeared the royal families: the dog king and queen stepping proudly forward, and the cat king and queen surrounded by the glow of candles and crystals. Lysar stood nearby, leaning slightly forward as if he wanted to capture every moment—like a brother who had finally welcomed his sister into his heart.

Their eyes met again and again, like flashes of light—charged with emotion, unspoken words, and magnetic attraction. When Evander smiled softly, Harmony returned the smile. It felt as though time had paused, so only their energy could shine.

Music began to play. Evander led Harmony to the center of the hall. Their hands found each other, fingers intertwined, and every step, every turn was filled with love and joy.

The butterflies multiplied. In each other’s eyes, they read a sense of perfect harmony—a feeling words could never capture. Every breath, every heartbeat whispered: At last, we are home. At last, we are together.

While everyone admired their dance, Evander and Harmony felt something more—not just the joy of returning, but a promise of a future filled with love, shared paths, and dreams.

After the magical dance, as their eyes still searched only for each other, the music faded and the hall erupted in applause. Harmony felt her heart racing wildly. Evander squeezed her hand as if to share each heartbeat with her.

Suddenly, from a darker corner of the hall, a warm light glowed. On a large golden tray stood a cake, decorated with flowers and sparkling candles, its colors matching her gown. It was a masterpiece—layered, delicate in soft tones, adorned with tiny symbols of both dog and cat kingdoms: stars, moons, and blossoms glimmering in the light.

Harmony gasped, her breath catching. “Oh…” she whispered, blushing as she realized the cake was meant for her.

“How?”

Evander smiled, his ears alert, his tail swaying gently. “I remembered everything. I watched every step you took—did you forget?”

Harmony smiled back at him. “You never stop surprising me.”

“Happy birthday, Harmony,” he said softly, his voice carrying all the warmth and love of his heart. In his eyes shimmered a silent promise: I will always be here. Always.

The candles flickered to life, filling the hall with gentle warmth. Evander leaned closer and whispered, “May this be the beginning of your most beautiful year.”

Harmony squeezed his hand. “Thank you…” she murmured, her smile brightening her entire face. The cake was not just dessert—it was a symbol of their closeness, of the endless happiness that awaited them.

As they sat at the table, friends showered them with gifts, but Harmony knew that no gift could ever compare to what she already had by her side—Evander.

The musicians began to play again. Evander lifted her hand gently and invited her to dance once more. Their fingers locked, their eyes never leaving each other.

Every gesture, every smile carried a spark of unspoken emotions. Their eyes spoke the language of love, longing, and happiness.

As they danced, they moved in perfect rhythm with the music, every touch rich with meaning. Each note whispered: I will always be by your side.

Evander leaned in and whispered, “Harmony… every moment with you is pure magic.”

Harmony smiled, her eyes glowing brightly. In that instant, she knew: their story was only just beginning.

And then it happened—after the dance, after the music—Evander slowly lowered himself onto one knee. His eyes never left hers, as though the whole world had become nothing but her.

“Harmony…” he began softly, yet with unwavering resolve. “I’ve longed to speak these words. Every moment with you is a gift. You are my heart, my light, and my home. Will you be by my side—not just today, but for all the days to come?”

Harmony froze. Her tail swayed gently, her ears tilted forward, her heart racing wildly. Her eyes sparkled, her breath short but filled with happiness and anticipation.

Evander squeezed her hand slightly and added, “Our paths, our lives… I want to walk them with you.”

Harmony slowly nodded, tears of joy streaming down her cheeks. Her tail spun, her ears trembled with excitement. “Yes… yes, Evander. I will always be with you.”

His face lit up, his tail trembling with delight. He smiled and pressed her hand gently against his chest.

Silence filled the hall. No words were needed—love spoke louder than any cheer or celebration. The music softened, as if it, too, was waiting for this moment to be etched forever in the memories of both kingdoms.

“Harmony,” he continued, his voice tender yet steady, “you are the one who found me when I was lost. The one who believed in me when I couldn’t believe in myself. With you, I discovered strength I never knew I had, and a love that surpasses the boundaries of worlds. Even though you are a cat girl and I a dog prince—your heart beats in the rhythm of mine.”

From his pocket, he drew out a small velvet box, dark blue as the night beneath a full moon. When he opened it, the hall filled with gasps of awe.

Inside lay a silver ring, polished to a mirror’s shine. Engraved upon it were the sun and moon, intertwined as one—the symbol of eternal unity between two worlds, two hearts. At its center gleamed a star-shaped crystal. It was neither diamond nor sapphire, but a jewel known only in the dog kingdom—a crystal that glowed from within, as though holding a fragment of the sky itself.

Harmony’s breath caught. Her eyes brimmed with tears of pure happiness. Her tail swayed softly, her ears tilted forward as if to capture every moment.

Evander’s voice was warm yet filled with royal determination as he asked:
“Harmony… will you become my companion, my princess, my queen… my heart for all the days to come?”

Time stopped. No one spoke, no one moved—only the two of them existed, entwined in the circle of their fates. Harmony felt light radiating through her, filling the hall. Yet this time, there was no fear—everyone knew this was her true glow, born of love.

With trembling lips, she whispered: “Yes… Evander. Always yes.”

With gentle fingers, Evander slid the ring onto her finger. The crystal flared brighter, as if recognizing its true bearer. The hall erupted into applause, cheers, and tears of joy.

But Harmony heard none of it. She saw only him, felt only his presence.

Evander rose, wrapped his arms around her waist, and whispered softly against her ear: “From this day forward, you are my everything.”

Their foreheads touched. Their breaths mingled, silence around them thick with anticipation. The crystal on her finger glowed like molten silver and gold, bathing their skin in its light.

Their eyes locked. Evander tilted his head slightly, and Harmony felt her heart pound. Her ears quivered, her tail followed the rhythm of her racing heart, butterflies dancing in her stomach. His breath mingled with hers, as though they were one heartbeat.

And then… the kiss. Gentle, yet deep. The world stood still. The flames of the candles and the echoes of music melted into a single note, playing only in their hearts. Harmony closed her eyes, surrendering herself fully to the love that embraced her in every atom of her being. Evander felt her give herself completely and held her tight, as though she were the most precious treasure of all.

Their lips parted only to share the same breath, then met again in an even deeper kiss, every touch sealing a promise no force could break.

When at last they pulled away slightly, their hands still clasped, their faces were radiant with smiles—smiles filled with joy, tenderness, and everlasting love. The world around them faded away—there was only them.

Evander whispered, his voice trembling yet resolute: “I promise you, Harmony… I will never let you go.”

Harmony leaned closer and whispered back softly: “And I, Evander… will never stop loving you.”

The crystal on her finger still glowed, but now its light reflected something far greater—the brilliance of their love.
