Chapter 3:
The Last Hope of Fallen Kingdom ( Volume 1)
Nine months passed, and at last Ark managed to take his first steps. Rose and Karl were overjoyed, their hearts feeling parental feelings. Later that night, Rose gently carried him into his little room, placed him into the baby crib, and quietly left the room.
Ark, however, didn't sleep. His curious eye drifted to the window where the night sky was shining dimly as he sat up straight. Then, noticing the door wasn't properly closed, he climbed down carefully and toddled out.
On the same floor, he spotted another door left slightly open. Ark thought in head. ‘Mother always goes in there... reading something. What's inside?’
He slowly moved toward the mysterious room.
The room was quiet and dusty, filled with boxes and old shelves. Ark's small feet carried him to the bookcase, his eyes shining with curiosity. ‘So many books... What's inside?’. He stretched out his little hand, but the shelf was too high. His fingers brushed the wood and slipped back down.
"Tch... so disappointing," Ark said in his childish tone, puffing his cheeks. "I must know what's in that book…”
A voice suddenly echoed, smooth but teasing.
"How poor, poor baby…”
Ark froze. His heart skipped. He knew that voice. The entity.
How can I even talk back? he wondered. Because he was only 9 months old.
The voice says. "You forget, I bent the laws of every universe and I also read and listened to the thoughts of helpless children, hah!”
Ark says, half annoyed. "Okay, fine. Why are you even here?”
The presence spoke lazily, "Didn't you give me a name once? Call me that again. I only came to see what this powerless child will do in life.”
Ark is frustrated and says. "I'm only nine months old! What can I even do... oookay, Supreme Goddd.”
The entity laughed, “Hmm. So you want your mother's magic book, right?”
Ark's says. "I see her always reading it in her free time... I want to read it too."
A glitchy, transparent hand reached out of the air and pushed a book from the shelf, dropping it gently in front of him.
"Don't thank me," the voice teased. "I just like helping helpless little children."
Ark grumbled. "I'm not thanking you. Instead, I want answers. Why did you send me into this world?”
The presence thought quietly for a moment, then said, "I wanted to watch another universe. A very interesting fight should've started there, but… I think this didn't start with some reason. Forget what I said. Focus on your life. Find your answers yourself.”
The voice faded, leaving only silence.
Ark blinked at the book, muttering, "He really sounds like a god... but his attitude's like a teenager." With that, he flipped the pages, sinking deeply into the study of magic. So deeply, in fact, that he didn't realize it was already morning coming out.
"Ark! He's not in his room!" Rose's panicked voice rang through the house.
Karl came running, but he remained calm. "Relax, Rose. He's here somewhere. We'll find him."
Both are finding ark, but a few minutes later.
Moments later, Rose shouted again. "Karl, come here!”
They rushed into the storage room-and there was Ark, surrounded by piles of books, sleeping soundly with one still open in his lap.
Rose quickly picked him into her arms. "How did he even get in here?”
Karl laughed softly and said , “ Look like Ark really love books.”
"Of course he does," Rose smiled faintly. "He's going to be like me... an intelligent child.”
Karl shook his head. "We'll see his capabilities."
Rose hugged Ark tighter. "Not now. He's only nine months old. Wait until he's older, then test him.”
Together, they carried him back to his crib. Rose gently placed him in, whispering, "Our child is truly something special…”
The time passed, Seven years later.
Ark lay lazily on his bed when his mother's voice came out downstairs."Ark, come down!”
He jumped to his feet and hurried down the stairs, running straight toward the dining table. His mother smiled warmly."Lunch is ready. Sit at the table.”
As Ark settled down, his father entered and joined them. The three ate together, the simple moment feeling warm and peaceful. Then Rose looked at her husband. "Honey, I think you have something to tell Ark.”
Karl replied, setting down his cup."Ark, after lunch, you and I will go somewhere. I want to see your talent. You love books already, but I need to know how good you are at other things.”
Ark's eyes lit up with curiosity. "Okay, Father."
After lunch, both father and son prepared themselves, ready to set out.
Karl and Ark stepped outside, the bright sun spilling across the village road. A cart stood waiting by their door, its wheels ready and horses restless.
Ark curiously asked, "Father, why is there a cart here?"
Karl smiled. "Because we're going far today. A cart will make our journey easier.”
They climbed aboard, and as the driver snapped the reins, Rose called out from the doorway, her voice filled with warmth. "Ark, take care of yourself.”
Ark leaned over the side of the cart and waved. "Okay, Mom!”
The wheels creaked as the cart began its slow roll down the path. Karl rested his arms on his knees and turned to his son and said.
"Ark, you've always loved reading your mother's magic books. We both believe you'll become a mage one day-maybe even an A-rank mage. That would make us proud. But..." his eyes grew sharp, "battle isn't just magic. Physical strength and survival skills are just as important. Today, I want to see how capable you are in a fight.”
Ark's face lit up with focus and said. "Yes, Father! I'll show you I'm good in fighting skills too.”
But deep inside, his thoughts were more complicated. I've read all of Mother's books... but most of them support magic. Healing, detection, tracking-but barely any offensive spells. Let's see what I can actually do when Karl tests me.
And so, the cart rolled onward, carrying father and son toward Ark's first fighting test
Karl's heart pounded with anticipation, desperate to witness his son's true capabilities in survival and battle skills.
Meanwhile Ark, burned with equal excitement, eager to test the magic he'd studied from his mother's books. Support spells or not, he longed to prove their worth. Both father and son waited anxiously, their destinies about to unfold.
The journey continues to her destiny. Let's see what happened?
