Chapter 5:

Chapter 5 – The Shadow Behind Omega

Mecha Gear: World at War

Black smoke billowed from the ruins, the smell of burnt metal and blood filling the air. The screams of the Tregear soldiers grew fainter—one by one, they had become casualties.

But amidst the panic, Sanchez still held on. His face was slick with sweat, his eyes wild.

“N-no way! Dozens of people… tanks… helicopters… all destroyed?! I… I won't lose to a single monster!”

With trembling hands, Sanchez ran towards his personal mech, Basilisk-03, a heavy-type combat mech. The giant steel body was ready in the emergency hangar.

BIP-BIP-BIP!

The cockpit door opened. He jumped inside, gasping for breath.

"Hah… hah… alright… with this… I can—" SSHHHKK!

The cockpit door sealed shut. The systems began to power up.

But before he could finish his sentence, a black shadow was already standing right behind the Basilisk. The Mecha-Wolf's red eyes glowed, piercing through the smoke.

Sanchez felt a cold dread stab him in the spine.

"N-no… don't tell me…" KRRAAANGG!

The Mecha-Wolf's steel claw went straight through the back of the cockpit.

“GYAAAAAAAAA!!” Sanchez screamed in despair. BOOOOM!!

The entire Basilisk-03 mech exploded, a massive fireball lighting up the night. Shards of metal flew, melting until nothing was left.

And from behind the inferno, only one figure stood tall. The Mecha-Wolf. The Grim Reaper.

Meanwhile, deep underground in the ruins, Emmy was out of breath after running aimlessly. Her breathing was heavy, sweat dripping, but her eyes widened as the corridor led her to a large room.

The automated lights came on one by one, revealing a dark secret.

In the center of the room, sleeping in silence… was a silvery-black mech, its body far larger than any mech she had ever seen. A powerful, oppressive aura emanated from it, as if it could pierce the very air.

Emmy whispered, barely believing her own voice.

"I-it's… Titanis… Omega…? Wasn't this mech supposedly scrapped after the great war two decades ago?"

Her eyes trembled, her heart pounding. Omega was a legend—a mech known as The Destroyer, a weapon even three nations feared.

"It's impossible… why is it still here? And who is… taking care of it?"

Suddenly—click! A cold sound came from behind her. A blue-haired, purple-eyed android stood with a pistol in its hand. Nexus.

Emmy's eyes widened.

"Y-you again?! What… are you the one who's been taking care of all this?!" Nexus approached expressionlessly.

"Unauthorized subject has found the core facility. Activating security protocol." "Wait! I didn't mean to—" SSTT!

An automatic syringe fired a tranquilizing fluid into Emmy's neck.

"U-uhh…" Her body swayed, her vision blurring.

But before she lost consciousness, Emmy managed to catch a glimpse of a hologram screen behind Nexus. It showed a muscular man with golden eyes, training his body in a simulation room. The silhouette was so unfamiliar… yet so terrifying.

"I-it… it can't be… y-you're… the—"

Her eyes closed. The world went dark.

🌑 On the surface, the Mecha-Wolf stood on a peak of ruins, its silhouette cast against a red moon. The predator had slaughtered the entire squad, leaving behind only fire and terror.

Meanwhile, underground, a greater secret was stirring—Titanis Omega, the destroyer of worlds, still sleeping and waiting for its time.

And only one knew the truth. Nexus.
