Chapter 5:

Chapter 5: Theo’s Confession

Circus of Dreams

The next day starts the count down to the commercial broadcast and many begin working hard working on their routines. Laurel begins to work Risa hard to pull of the routine she is hoping will work with Theo.

“Alright Risa, try a back flip one arm twist,” Laurel orders.

Risa jumps to the trapeze nearest to her, then swings fast gaining momentum, then grabbing the next one, only this time doing the back flip, jumping in the air, and did the one arm twist flawlessly. Laurel sees Risa can really do any type of routine flawlessly and pisses her off.

“Risa, continue training, for now, until Theo arrives for your duet,” Laurel orders.

“Yes, ma’am,” Risa replies.

Risa continues performing one routine after another while Laurel continues to give her directions without missing a beat.

“Honestly is there any move she cannot do?” Laurel says to herself.

“Are you talking to me?” Theo replies, as he enters the room.

“Oh, Theo, yes, well, she is just annoying me. I never thought she would be this good on a trapeze after leaving it for so long,” Laurel confesses, crossing her arms.

“Ha-ha, it sure is cute seeing you jealous,” Theo teases.

“Jealous, how can I be jealous of her?”

“I was only teasing,” Theo teases.

“Well, I do not like that. How about you get up there already before she annoys me even further,” Laurel orders.

“Sure, thing princess,” Theo said, as he walks up to the ladder and begins to climb it.

Risa being so focused on her routine that she did not notice Theo joining her on the trapeze.

“Huh? Theo? What are you doing here?”

“Um, we are to perform a duet together.”

“Oh, right, I forgot.”

“Beautiful,” Theo whispers.

“If you two are done chatting, can we please begin the routine?” Laurel shouts, shouting annoyed.

“Yes, Laurel,” they both shouted.

Theo grabs Risa closer to him as he jumps on her trapeze as they work together jumping to the next trapeze. Then Risa jumps above him as she tries to reach the next trapeze behind them. She does a spilt in the air as she catches it by doing a one handstand. Theo joins her on the trapeze and begins a little dance with her. Risa jumps gracefully in his arms as he tosses her up and he twists around doing a different kind of spilt and poses as a beautiful butterfly.

Laurel begins to notice Risa and Theo seem perfect performing partners like they are destined to be together. She begins to feel a bit jealous about this while thing that she has to put stop to all of this. “Alright that is enough for today. I want the both of you to rest up, but make sure you practice until the commercial day,” Laurel orders, as she leaves the room.

“Beautiful,” Theo whispers.

Risa blushes and whispers, “Thank you.”

Risa swings herself from the trapeze back to the platform and climbs down the ladder and walks out the door. She needed a quiet place to think, so she thought of looking for Melody. It seems even the fairies are going to be part of the show, so they are excited to perform something on their own. It was nice to see Melody doing something different besides flying towards her.

“Melody… I thought we might want to spend time to…Oh I am sorry.”

“It is quite alright, please stay,” the fairy happily says.

“Risa, I am sorry, please let me introduce you to our queen, this is Queen Helena,” Melody formerly introduces the queen.

“It is a pleasure to meet you.”

“The pleasure is all mine.”

“Your majesty, if you don’t mind, I would like to know more about your world and what made you come to ours.”

“Of course. As you might know the fairy land was once a beautiful land where we were free to live in peace. One day we had to escape because a great evil took over our land. We were not strong enough to take on this evil, so we fled here to gain more magic with the help with the circus folk in order to one day return and defeat this evil once for all. I will admit I do miss our once beautiful home with the most beautiful blue sky, water as clear as crystal, and flowers and trees are bright, and scents can be smelled all through our land. It is wonderful.”

“It sounds wonderful.”

“It is.”

“Then why are you not doing anything to fight back.”

“Risa watches your tongue,” Melody orders.

“It is fine Melody. We would love to, but we are still too weak.”

“I see, but what can I do.”

“There is a prophecy of someone with great magical abilities will help us defeat this evil and we can finally return to our home.”

“I see thank you for telling me. I will do what I can to help you find this person.”

“I will be eternally grateful if you do,” Queen Helena said as she flies off.

“Take care your majesty and Melody see you soon,” Risa says, ready to leave.

“Risa, can you stay a bit longer?” Melody asks.

“I am sorry, but I really have to go,” Risa said. “I promise I will come back again soon.”

“Ok, see you later,” Melody said with a pouted face.

Risa shakes her head and continues walking away. Trying to leave she bumps into Cassidy. “I see you had a long day?” Cassidy asks, joining Risa. “Yes, the longest. Laurel playing commando and I can see why your brother is called the prince of the circus,” Risa comments. “Yes, he sure is,” Cassidy teases. “Yes, well, I would love to stay and chat, but I am exhausted. I will see you tomorrow,” Risa said walking away. “Have a good nigh-,” Cassidy said walking away with her fairy.

As the days continue on, many have been perfecting their routines for the commercial. Risa and the others were still continuing to perfect their own routines. Laurel still continues to drill sergeant the duet to be perfect. She did not like this idea of helping them, but at the same time, she was getting upset that her boyfriend really is in love with a different girl.

The day of the commercial shoot has finally arrived. With things being set for the performance well on their way and the performers are getting dressed or relaxing until it was time to shoot. In the meantime, Risa and Sara were in the middle of their classes until it was time to head over to Dream.

“Today is the day we make our debut,” Sara points out. “Are you excited?”

“Yes, I am excited to get this over with.”

“I cannot wait for our costumes.”

“Yes, I just hope they are not in bright colors.”

“Then why is your face telling a different story.”

“I am very busy with my duties as Student Representative. Maybe my face is showing exhaustion.”

“Wow, you are such a liar.”

“That is new coming from you.”

“I know, but I just want to see a different side of you. I am leaving early care to join?”

“I will come after I am done with a few more things here.”

“Ok, see you there,” Sara said, walking out.

Sara leaves and Risa are finally alone with her thoughts and her paperwork. It is so hard to concentrate when Theo has been grazing her thoughts once in a while. She did enjoy performing with Theo and the kiss. It was something she never experienced before, and it might be something she would enjoy again sometime soon.

Later, she erased her thoughts of him and quickly finished her paperwork before leaving her room and head over to the student council office. It is a thirty-minute walk from the dorms, but she enjoyed it since the weather was cool and the leaves turning color. It is a magical scene to witness.

She arrives to the student council office and hand over the paperwork. She then heads over to the main gate and begins walking over to Dream. She is just glad the academy is only twenty minutes away from the port, so it is a quick walk. The only problem walking all over the city and being part of the founding family of the city, you can easily be jumped by fans. She greets them warmly and does what they ask her to do.

Finally, after they left, she arrives at Dream. She greets fellow workers, cast members, and enters the lobby ready to get this over with. It is also strange seeing many cameras, wires, lights, and camera people around setting things up for the commercial.

“Wow, could you believe it, we are going to be on TV, this is exciting,” Mina says appearing out of nowhere.

“Whoa Mina, wait you never been on TV before?” Risa asks, catching her breath.

“No, never, and I have been here for four years,” Mina replies.

“I see, well, all you have to do is smile and do what they ask. You are beautiful for the camera. Now let’s go and get into costume” Risa explains.

“Thank you, Risa. I will keep that in mind. Now let me show you to the dressing rooms,” Mina offers, leading the way.

Risa and Mina arrive to the dressing room where most of the girls where already finish getting dressed. “Tess. I have another one for you,” Mina chimes in getting her attention.

“Oh, good, come along we do not have time to chat, please get into your costume,” Tess replies finishing up with the other girl.

Risa is seen dragged along with the others getting change into a strange outfit she never seen before. It is a thin jump suit beautifully decorated with many different colors with a rainbow tutu and accessories to match. They may get in the way with the jumps, but if you want to look your best then it is necessary.

“A perfect fit, I had to guess your size,” Tess explains, as putting a final touch.

“Nice guess, thank you,” Risa said, happily.

“It is my pleasure,” Tess says, continuing to work on the outfit.

“Tess, this outfit is amazing, but why do I have the feeling this matches Theo’s?” Risa asks, annoyed.

“As a matter of fact, it does,” Tess confesses.

“Great, just because we are performing a duet, everyone assumes we should be together,” Risa says annoyed.

“Yes, well, I only follow orders,” Tess says.

“I am sorry, thank you again,” Risa said kindly.

“Yes, thank you for letting me dress you,” Tess says, cleaning up.

“It is my pleasure,” Risa said walking out.

Sara comes around the corner to catch up with Risa.

“Risa waits up,” Sara says, catching up to Risa.

Risa is a bit angry about the outfit that she did not notice Sara calling out of her and to top it off she has a run in with Theo.

“That outfit looks good on you,” Theo compliments.

“This is your fault,” Risa murmurs and walks away.

“What is your deal?” Theo says as he let Risa go.

“She will be fine,” Sara replies, as she is walking away.

“Attention please, will all cast, and crew please make your way to the main stage, we are about to begin,” The PA announces.

Everyone runs to the main stage ready to get in position.

“Alright everyone, do your best and remember what we rehearse,” The boss says.

“OK, everyone big smiles and do your best,” the director announces.

“In three…. two… one…action,” the camera crew announces.

“Do you want to come to a place where dreams come true and everything you imagine coming alive right before your eyes. In Circus of Dreams, you will unlock your true self and your experience here is something you will hold dear to your heart for a lifetime,” the boss explains.

(Camera switches over to the performers.)

There are clowns dressed beautifully performing stunts with animals, flames, hoops, dancers, jumping through them. The trampoline artists jumping high above shifting to the tight rope performing their amazing stunts. Lastly, the trapeze where Theo and Risa are shown performing a duet high in the air, flying as they are both in sync, reading each other’s moves, as they were performing. They are spinning fast and quickly towards each other as Risa continues to dance with Theo. Then Laurel, Cassidy, Mina, and Sara joins in sharing a dance with the prince. It did not bother Theo as he only has eyes for Risa which made him happier to be close to her. The routine comes to an end where shining so bright filling up the stage lights and once it disappears everyone suddenly poses to end the commercial.

The boss returns to speak again.

“If you love this performance, then come to Circus of Dreams to see these lovely new recruits in our next production of Sleeping Beauty which will be held in one month, tickets go on sale in two days,” the boss ends as the cameras shut off.

“Good job everyone, I think it was our best yet,” Mina says excitedly says cheering on.

“Yes, please excuse me,” Risa says quickly walking off the stage.

Minutes later, Risa comes out of the dressing room and walks out ignoring everyone.

“Hey, Risa, where are you going?” Sara asks.

“To the park, be back later,” Risa quickly says, continuing to walk away.

“Alright, see you in a bit,” Sara calls out.

“Huh, where she is going?” Theo asks.

“If I know my best friend, she is going to the park to think for the bit, she does this when she needs think. I suggest you go to her. From what I saw in the duet, you are in love,” Sara whispers to him.

“Really, thanks,” Theo said thinking to himself, ready to leave.

“Theo, let’s go, we have some training to do,” Laurel said as she was coming in.

Risa arrives at the park and did not realize there was so many people enjoying the beautiful weather waiting for the sunset to end to take a romantic moonlight scroll together. It is nice seeing real smiles on their faces as she continues walking through the park. At the end of the park, she walks through a meadow of trees out of human eyes and enters a hilly path where she can sit and be alone with her thoughts.

Meanwhile back at Dream, Theo cannot stop thinking about Risa and want to go see her, but being royalty of the circus there never is a break. It seems he is not really into it this time around. “Theo, what is the matter? I have seen you perform better than this,” Laurel asks. “Huh, I am sorry Laurel, but we just got done with the commercial and you want to train. We should take a break,” Theo admits.

“Alright, fine, go get some rest,” Laurel says dismissing him.

“Yes, I promise to make it up to you later,” Theo said, kissing her cheek.

“Ok, I will see you tomorrow,” Laurel says, kissing his cheek.

Theo finally away from Laurel thought to go find Risa and probably confess his feelings to Risa. He knows this is insane and does not know her for a long time, but he feels like he has been waiting for her for a long time. Thanks to Sara, he knows where to go.

There is no time to get his car, he decides to run through the city all the way to the park. He runs through the park until he reaches the end only to finally find Risa alone starring up at the stars. “Theo what are you doing here?” Risa asks a little disturbed.

“Sara told me where you were.”

“I knew she cannot keep a secret. What do you want?”

“I want to tell you something.”

“Spit it out. I do not have all night.”

“Fine, Risa, since the first moment I performed with you on stage, I felt you are the one for me. I know it is crazy, but Risa, I love you.”

“You cannot be serious. Theo, we only known each other for almost a month and….and,” Risa responses, while Theo interrupts her with a kiss.

The kiss seems to be the best kiss Risa has had in a long time, but she did not want him to know she is an easy to catch, so she slaps him on the face.

“Theo, what the hell do you think you are doing? You have a girlfriend, and you are here kissing me that is simply rude,” Risa responses angrily.

“I never thought it is going to be hard to court you, even Laurel was easier,” Theo teases.

“Fine, if you must know I do like you a lot of Theo, my heart races whenever I perform with you. I feel like I have been waiting for someone like you, but we cannot be together,” Risa confesses, trying not to sound weak.

“I am not going to give up on winning your heart, so how about in the meantime we can be friends as a compromise,” Theo offering the compromise.

“Very well, I agree. Let’s be friends,” Risa says, kissing his cheek as a promise.

Risa walks away before anyone sees Theo with her and the situation becomes worse. Theo stays behind a bit longer happily thinking one day he will be with Risa. Risa, as she was walking away, could not stop thinking about the kiss as well and it just gave her something to look forward to.

It was getting late when she returned back to the dorm, where apparently Sara is waiting up for her.

“Did you enjoy your time with your thoughts?” Sara asks as Risa steps in.

“Yes, I did, but I was interrupted by Theo, no thanks to you,” Risa explains.

“How is this my fault? I only thought I would speed up the progress of you two getting together since it is clear as day you two are in love with each other,” Sara defends herself.

“I do not have feelings for him.”

“Right, then what took you so long to come back?”

“Fine, if you must know, Theo confessed his love for me and kissed me afterward.”

“What! What did you do?”

“I kissed him back and slapped him.”

“You sure are aggressive, but how was the kiss?”

“I felt nothing. It was a rude thing he did.”

“Risa, don’t lie to me, don’t forget what my ability is.”

“Damn your aura magic.” “Fine, the kiss caught me off guard and it was nice.”

“Oh, I knew it. I knew he would be better than Le….”

“Never mention that name again!”

“Sorry, good night, Risa.”

“Good night.”
