Chapter 9:
STASIS
Ciel, Trixie, and Hubris went to visit Ciel's mother's grave the next day to change the flowers. The grave was beautifully decorated with different flowers and looked like it had been taken care of regularly.
"You guys didn't have to come along," Ciel said.
"Why won't we? From what I've heard, she sounds like a really awesome mother."
Ciel swapped some of the flowers on the grave out for new ones. "Roses, your favourite; keep watching over me, Mom." He said as Trixie did the same with her flowers.
"Too bad Natoru couldn't come," Hubris said as he paid his respects to the grave.
"No, I'm sure he came; my guess is he is hiding over there."
Just then Natoru became visible.
"J-just, I was just testing my magic." Natoru said
"Yeah, no one's believing that crap; you became embarrassed when you saw us coming," Ciel said. "You know, I'm not angry at you; I know how much you cared for her."
Natoru smiled. "Thanks." I needed that.
"I think I will join your group to restore balance," Ciel said.
"Why the change of heart?"
"Don’t get me wrong, my main goal would be to find those involved in my mother’s death, but I'm starting to think it might not be so bad after all." Ciel said, then pointed at Natoru. "Although that doesn't mean I have to tolerate you."
"Good enough for me." Natoru said, “That makes three to go.”
"Are you planning on kidnapping again?" Hubris asked.
"This time you guys would be doing the kidnapping."
"Hell nah."
"Why not?"
"What the hell do you mean, 'Why not?' There are so many reasons “why not”."
Ciel laughed, which made everyone stop.
"What is it?" Ciel said,
"Was that a laugh just now?" Natoru replied. "That was a laugh, wasn't it? I want to hear it again," he said, reaching for his face.
"You are imagining it." Ciel said, moving Natoru's hand away.
"Well anyway, we’ve got to get going," Hubris said, calling everyone back to their minds. So they started going.
Ciel turned back to look at his mom's grave. I will keep going forward, Mom; you can trust me on that.
"What's taking so long, Ciel? You have to be my test subject, remember?"
"Yeah, and you are supposed to help me train."
"Won't you spend some time with your grandpa?"
Ciel turned back; he felt a push behind him. He smiled as he looked forward.
"Sure," Ciel said as he joined them.
He left the grave with the roses fluttering in the wind.
***
In a classroom a blue-haired girl sat on her chair. Her head was on her desk as she looked completely cut off from the entire classroom.
Her desk was filled with different words like 'stupid', 'arsehole', 'bitch' and other markings.
A tear dropped from her face.
