Chapter 9:
Bangles of power, Warriors of Fate
Inoshida quickly lands a job as a pet trainer in the second universe.
One day, while training a dog at its home, he hears news on television about the missing dog complaints on the outskirts of the city. People report that their dogs slept safely with them at night, but vanished by morning. Suspicious Inoshida takes a break and heads to the outskirts to investigate. He asked locals if they needed a pet trainer, but they declined, citing trust issues due to recent pet dog disappearances.
Inoshida gathered local animals and used his powers to ask if they had noticed anything unusual. They denied anything out of the ordinary. He asked them to inform him if they saw anything suspicious and rented a room.
He bought a puppy from a pet shop. But the dog refused to go with him.
Inoshida asked, “What's your problem, you little pup?”
The puppy replied, “You stink,” making a weird face.
“Ok, I will take a bath, but please come with me first,” he persuaded
He trained it to alert if it sensed any danger or saw a stranger.
One day, a man knocked on the door. When Inoshida opened it, the dog didn't react or bark.
The man was a salesman who offered Inoshida the toothpaste of his company.
“Sir, would you like to have a trial toothpaste from our company?”
Inoshida declined his offer. “No thanks, you can try somewhere else.”
The dog returned to the room and slept. He was there with Inoshida at night. However, by morning, the dog was gone.
Inoshida got anxious and investigated. He asked the birds again, “Have you all seen anything unusual or strange?”
A parrot replied, “Yes.”
Inoshida asked, “What?”
The parrot answered with a long pause, “I saw my beloved with another parrot.”
Inoshida spoke in anger, “I am talking about unusual human activity.”
One female parrot interrupted, “I am not sure about it, but I saw a salesman near the houses from which dogs disappeared.”
Inoshida repeated, “A salesman.”
The next day, he took the form of a parrot and went along with that female parrot to search for the salesman.
They found the salesman and decided to follow him. They noticed that the salesman went to the houses, and when the dogs came to bark, they were somehow hypnotized by that person.
They followed him to the last house he visited; after that, he disappeared.
The next day, the dogs went missing. They saw no dog coming out of their owners’ houses or going somewhere else at night.
“Whatever is going on here is really confusing,” said Inoshida to the parrot.
“How will you figure this out?” the parrot asked.
“I'll have to use my senses, which requires great concentration, but it can lead me to death if I am not awake at the right time,” he answered.
“Will you help me?” asked Inoshida.
“Of course, Shida,” parrot answered.
“Shida?” he asked.
“Inoshida is quite a big name, so I gave you a pet name,” she answered with a smile.
“Shall I also give you a name?” asked Inoshida.
The parrot blushed and said, “Mmhmmm.”
Inoshida asked, “What about ‘Shina’? Similar to my name.”
