Chapter 1:

The Star That Lit The Night

The Star That Shines so Bright

A little bug, as tiny as can be,

I see the clouds starting to retreat.

When the sky turns dark, and day turns to night,

A lone star can be seen, shining so bright.

Night after night, when the star shines its light,

One after another, bugs bathe in its delight.

Up I go, chasing my dreams,

That maybe one day, the star could see me.

The higher I fly, the fewer bugs I see,

Maybe the star-- will finally see me.

Up and up, the farther I go,

The warmth is for me-- and for me alone.

The grace from above has never felt so tight,

Is that what it means-- to find love at first sight?

Full of bliss; full of glee,

It is finally time-- for the star to pick me.

The restless days; the sleepless nights,

Worrying that one day, I won't feel it's excite.

When the clouds flew back, the light began to dim,

Just like that, the world had never felt so grim.

Time stopped moving; the world stopped spinning,

In just one movement, the show seemed to be ending.

When the conductor lifted their arms, the world began to turn,

Time stopped for no one, not even a little bird.

The clouds fell, but the light shone so bright,

Through the darkness, only one hope in sight.

Above the clouds, I'll finally be free,

To experience the world-- with just you and me.

Pushing faster and stronger, my wings began to tear,

The journey felt longer, but no use in despair.

I can't lose my dreams; I can't lose all hope,

With the world pulling me back, I must climb the slope.

Into the clouds, the world released its grasp,

Covered in a shroud, I may be free at last.

The light in my eyes, the star up above,

Nothing can get between us, not even a dove.

In the night sky, finally free at last,

The star can see me; the star can feel my laughs.

I hold my wing out, reaching for its touch,

Only to feel my wings give out, right before our true love.

As I fall, there's one thing I see,

Another tiny bug-- that was right next to me.

Burning through the atmosphere, I breathe my last breath,

Maybe one day-- god will give me more than a test.
