Chapter 49:
I Reincarnated with My Childhood Friend as Magical Girls
She struck first — pulling out a weapon far larger than her small frame and swinging it with terrifying speed, as if to tell us with that motion that she’d decapitate us. We only had one hour left of fusion to try to kill her, so we told Ranma’s fusion to hit her with everything they had at maximum power while we attacked from another angle. They understood and set up the same tactic we had used on Kori.
Their aura shifted to the same pink tone — the Phantasmal Chaos Magic — the strange element that forms when several Magical Girls combine their powers. The Demon Queen seemed surprised, but shrugged it off like something she could control. Then she moved even faster, trying to cut off our heads. We dodged and counterattacked.
With a wave of her power the terrain twisted into a ring of fire while jagged rocks erupted from the ground. We leapt and tried to use our Elemental Magic to fly — barely managing it, and thanks to Goddess Aqua we stayed aloft. Eien no Shi beat her wings and rose into the air.
“I see you can fly. Then let’s make this interesting. I’ll raise the danger of my attacks now. Are you ready? Demonic Death Slash!” she spat.
“Damn it — hurry, Ranma! We have to kill her as fast as possible!” we shouted to Ranma’s fusion.
Ranma yelled back instantly: “Combine your weapons and create a fire arm!”
We understood and obeyed. Together we cried out:
“Sacred Weapon of the Wisdom of Goddess Aqua — Sacred Minigun!”
A minigun of blazing, holy-fire design materialized in our hands and we opened fire on the Demon Queen. Bullets streamed so fast she had to dodge frantically. She looked afraid — those rounds carried the essence of Goddess Aqua, logically Eien no Shi’s weakness. As we fired we taunted her:
“What’s the matter, you stinking queen? Afraid of a few bullets? You thought you were some cold desert orange—scared of simple bullets? Why do you dodge — aren’t you that strong?”
She snapped back, enraged: “Shut up! I will not listen to your taunts. I’ll use this special attack: Multiple Rafjas Blasts of Demonic Energy — take this, you wretched Magical Girls!”
She rose and unleashed columns of demonic-energy blasts from both hands. The beams shot in every direction; while we kept firing, we had to dodge and weave to avoid them. Still, we pressed the offense to give Ranma’s plan time to land.
“What’s wrong with your friend? I don’t see her attacking. Did she give up? Or is she planning something? It’s a pity she’s not helping you — are you going to die alone and watch your little friend suffer a worse fate before your eyes? This is funny. You can’t beat me; I am invincible. No one can defeat me. You made a terrible mistake challenging me — all of humanity are pawns to be used. You are doomed. When you least expect it I’ll kill you all. Hahahahahaha!” the Demon Queen raved.
She’d clearly been corrupted by power — her judgment gone. But why didn’t she use an even deadlier attack to finish us? Was she saving strength to wait out the fusion time and then kill us? Or did she simply want the fight to last?
We watched Ranma’s fusion: they were concentrating energy at their fingertips. What were they plotting? We had to buy them time. We tried to multiply ourselves with magic, but failed — there were limits to the Magical Girls’ elemental powers.
Eien no Shi taunted again in a mocking tone: “What’s the matter? Aren’t you going to kill me quickly? If you’re planning one of those Mega Super Ultimate Attacks, do it now. By the way, why is your friend just charging energy at her fingertips? Is that all she plans to do — attack with fingertip magic?”
We were running out of time. Then suddenly, at the moment we least expected it, Ranma’s fusion screamed:
“Makankametoooooooooooooo!”
A beam erupted from their fingers so fast the Demon Queen didn’t see it coming — she took it full on. The impact threw out a massive explosion and a cloud of smoke. Did it work?
