Chapter 49:
Powerlust: Unstable Grounds
The Green Witch
Percia had been perfecting her Wiccraft since she still had skin. She was the finest Wicked Woman in all of Kelton. Likely all the Isles. She has a great many proficiencies, but none so much as Plasma. One of the rarest and most powerful mægic known. She called down a bolt of her power from the heavens that she had bid to weep.
The fat old woman faced her. Granny Greenthumb faced her. The traitor. The thief. The man-stealer. The nerve. That coven-betraying toad. How dare she show her face on this field. Percia Green Grower owned this field. She brought down great fonts of lightning along with the rain. Greenthumb coated herself in a flurry of charred, muddy chaff that was dying in the flames. She formed a giant straw golem around herself. A Scarecrow. Sentimental old fool. Green Grower brought down more bolts of lightning, setting the Scarecrow ablaze. She would burn in there. Green Grower called forth a golem made of bloodied mud and raised her fallen followers. The burning Scarecrow swiped into the sea
Percia brought down great fonts of lightning along with the rain. Green Grower called forth a golem made of bloodied mud. The burning Scarecrow swiped into the sea. Then Percia sent down a lethal lightning bolt.
The brave old fool Bruno planted his metal-tipped spear in the earth like a lightning rod, and it absorbed the power. The fool had vanished. He left his spear exposed. A slithering Green Serpent emerged from the soil of the spear and strangled one of Percia's disciples. Another was bitten and began to froth at the mouth. Her poor beast broke its leg and fell. Percia summoned forth four great Catamounts to slay the Serpent. The fool reappeared besides the Serpent, spearless. He fought with a dagger and dirk. He stabbed one Catamount in the eye and then hurled it at another. The Green Serpent swallowed a fellow whole. That was a slight for rotten eyes. The two remaining cats pounced. Percia raised her fallen followers and sent the mud golem charging.
When all seemed lost, a squad of shields appeared from the smoke and encircled the digesting serpent and the fool. The Serpent vanished, and the spear returned only longer and sharper. The fool carved through the dead, and the shield held the cats away as he chipped at the mud of the golem. That is, until he hurled his spear like a javelin 45ft spinning at Mach speed and landed right in the witch's heart. Both the spear and the heart exploded. The mud melted. The cats retreated. The dead rested. The thunder ceased. Not so the rain. The rain stayed on strong. What a wet day for war.
