The Tale of Magic

(A Woman was seen crawling away from a towering man walking towards her, as all across her village countless nightspawn were slaughtering her fellow villagers and loved ones, her son watches on as this man grabs her by the hair.)
???: "Awww, how sad, Mommy is too weak to get away from me. Son, you're gonna want to advert your eyes as I do this." (As the Demonic figure prepared to devour the woman, a man missing an arm charges him wielding a sword with his remaining arm, he drives it through his heart as he cleaves the man in half, He stabs the sword in the ground and grabs the woman.)
"My Love, its going to be alright."

(The demonic man starts to wither as another body appears and begins to strike them both down.)
???: "You can destroy my body, but you actually missed my heart you bafoon. As long as I have that I can regenerate this vesse-" (The man summons the blade with the last of his power driving it through the demonic beings heart.)
???: "You bastard." (As the two die in each others arms, their son looks on in horror as they beg him to run, but before he could the demonic being reaches out and places a mark on his back with a burning pain that he ignores and beings to sprint past them before grabbing his fathers sword and disappearing into the woods, barely able to carry said blade.)

7 Years Later

(A Young Teenager in modest clothing was walking down a dirt path early in the morning, carrying chopped wood through a opening of trees to come upon a small village.)

???: "Lucan come here dear, I need some help with something." (A Short Older woman waved The Boy towards her.)
Lucan: "Of Course Mrs. Elmhurst, Where's The Mr? In town already at the market?"
Mrs. Elmhurst: "You know him, always up and early to get the sales done."

(Lucan helped Mrs. Elmhurst to pull loafs of bread from 3 massive Brick ovens and to load them on a wagon.)
Lucan: "Allow me ma'am, I will pull the wagon, no need to pull out the Colt."
Mrs. Elmhurst: "You're a gentleman, Lucan."
Lucan: "No better then you all raised me to be." (Lucan said this with a massive smile as he placed his back on wooden hooks on the cart and picked up the wooden blocks of it and proceeded to walk beside Mrs. Elmhurst down the road.)

(Lucan and Mrs. Elmhurst arrived at her and her husbands booth as he greeted Mr. Elmhurst and took his leave to a small stall with miscellaneous goods, Lucan Placing the chopped wood in his sack to the table.)
???: "Look at this Chump, always doing work for such little gold. You're never going anywhere."
Lucan: "Gareth, I know that's you, you're insults are just getting worse. Knock it off before I give you another lump on your head, Like last time." (Lucan turned and the young man standing in front of him did a special handshake with Him.)
Gareth: "Can't trick you can I?"
Lucan: "Not with your poor excuses of insults."

(All around the village, people chanting words and summoning circles of scripts from their hands were seen doing many things, from healing to cooking and creating fire. This simple task is known as Magic, and everyone can do it, although some people better then others.)
Lucan: "How is your training going with the Master Gareth?"
Gareth: "Oh you mean with magic, I guess its going well. I can control it better then I could be fore now."
Lucan: "You know, I am truly Envious of you Gareth, I would only dream to be able to use Magic." (Lucan then looked into the sky remembering what had happened to his Mother and Father.)
Gareth: "Anyone can do it dude, you just got to learn. I bet the Master would teach you."
Lucan: "Not everyone enjoys my company, I may have been here for 7 years now, But I am still an outsider to most."

(Lucan and Gareth were walking around as they discussed their futures and what they though they will be doing in a few years time.)
Gareth: "I hope I master my magic element and I get to serve the kingdom as a Knight, Its the only dream I have, Like my father."
Lucan: "I believe you can do it Gareth, you are pretty good with your magic already and at such a young age, you will make a fine mage."
Gareth: "And what of your future Lucan, What do you want to do?"
Lucan: "Who me? I just want to live a good life, I probably won't amount to anything outside the village. Its not for me."
Gareth: "That so?" (Gareth looked at Lucan as Lucan stared into the distance past the boarder of the village.)
Lucan: "Since my parents passed so many years ago, I just don't have a desire to leave everyone I hold dear. I can't really protect them as I am weak, But I am not going to run again."
(Lucan and Gareth spent the day together hanging out and catching up.)

Lucan: "Looks like its getting late, I should be heading back to my cabin."
Gareth: "Its far to dangerous to travel at night Lucan, Come stay with me. I bet my parents would be delighted to have you." (Lucan looked into the forest as it was already dark.)
Lucan: "If you say so Gareth."
(Lucan and Gareth walked across the village and came upon a well sized house as Gareth walked in and took off his shoes as Lucan took his boots off and put his bag down.)
Gareth: "Mother, Father I am home and I brought Lucan to stay the night. He lost track of time and I didn't want him to go home in the dark.)

(A Young looking couple came from the Kitchen with grins on their face as Lucan slightly bowed.)
Lucan: "I appreciate the hospitality Mr. and Mrs. Duskwood."
Isolde: "Nonsense Lucan, you are like our 2nd son, you are welcome anytime dear."
Caius: "Exactly son, we love your company."

(The Family and Lucan sat down for dinner as the night went on and they shared laughs of memories and enjoying each others company, as Isolde stood up and took the dishes.)
Isolde: "You boys go get ready for bed, its far to late for you to be up much longer."
Gareth: "Yes mother."
Lucan: "Yes Ma'am." (Lucan and Gareth went to his room as Gareth laid out a bedroll for Lucan after which they used a bucket of water to get cleaned up and laid down, Gareth quickly falling asleep.)

(Lucan thought to himself as he had a smile on his face from the day he's had, they accepted him as one of their own and they reminded him fondly of his parents as he yawned and flipped onto his side slowly drifting to sleep and slipping into a dream of his mother and father.)

Lucan: "Mother I am home! My training with the master is done."
???: "You're not supposed to be here."
Lucan: "Mother? What do you mean by that?"
???: "You're SUPPOSED TO BE DEAD!" (Lucan grabbed his mothers shoulder as she spun around to reveal the same man that killed his parents and his entire family as he fell back and began to smell smoke as he snapped awake to screams and the roof crashing in with a massive dark figure barreling at him.)

Lucan: "What the hell? GARETH!" (Lucan looked at Gareth buried under the rubble as he scrambled to get away from the Lumbering monster.)
Caius: "DIVINE SWORD OF THE BLADE GOD I SUMMON TO YOU MY SIDE, A GREAT BURNING ARC OF FIRE!" (Caius busted through the door with blade in hand as he casted a spell shooting a massive slash into the monster, burrowing clean into its stomach as it cleaves through it and falls to the ground squealing)
Caius: "Boy, get out of here and go get help. The Village is under assault, I will make sure Gareth is alright."
Lucan: "Yes sir!" (Lucan jumped to his feet and ran for the door, pulling on his boots as he glanced down and noticed his woodsman's axe as he grabbed it and flew out the door to the horror that was the village on fire and under assault from ghastly beasts.)

(Lucan sprinted towards the guard tower 3 miles outside of the village with royal guards to get them as he was passing houses and dodging the creatures of the night he heard screams, coming from the home of Mr. and Mrs. Elmhurst and stopped in his tracks.)

Lucan: "Oh no, they might be in trouble. What do I do?" (Lucan looked at the axe in his hands trembling in fear not able to move as he then began moving again in the direction of their house, He barged through the door as He saw a Deceased Mr. Elmhurst being devoured by Demonic beings as Mrs. Elmhurst was hysterical and about to succumb to the same fate.)

Mrs. Elmhurst: "Lucan! Get out of here dear boy, let this old lady die. I have lived my life you have not!" (Lucan thought about it for a second and started to turn around as Mrs. Elmhurst closed her eyes and accepted her fate.)

(Lucan plunged the tree felling axe into the back of the head of one of the bigger demons and grinned at Mrs. Elmhurst as he eyes shot open to its cry of death.)
Lucan: "Sorry Ma'am, This will have to be a time I disobey a elder." (Lucan swung the axe left piercing through the neck of a 2nd demon as a 3rd one slashes at him and wounds his arm, He drops his shoulder and charges it into the wall as he plants the axe into its head and puts his good arm out to help Mrs. Elmhurst as they run out.)

Lucan: "Come on Mrs. Elmhurst, We have to get out of here and get help."
Mrs. Elmhurst: "Dear boy I can not go on forever, I already used all my energy trying to save my husband, Leave me and go on."
Lucan: "I can't do that." (Lucan kept running with Mrs. Elmhurst as he was starting to run out of energy and slowly bleeding from his open wound.)

(From across the Village, more screams were heard as a now recovering Gareth was seen with his father.)
Caius: "Get up boy, we have to help the others, I hope that training you've been doing so often comes in use."
Gareth: "Yes sir!"
(Gareth Stood and focused his breathing as mana started to flow over his body and reinforced it as he looked at the incoming monsters and quickly let off a fury of punches killing 2 of them.)

Caius: "Good boy, now go find people who need help and evacuate them, I'll deal with these foul beasts."
Gareth: "Yes sir."
Caius: "Divine Blade of the Sword God I call Upon the, come forth with a shining display of your power AND STRIKE DOWN MY FOES!" (Caius chanted this as he struck his sword into the ground uprooting beams of light that solidify into stones, vanquishing 4 of the demons.)

(Gareth was running about the village helping the injured and other survivors get themselves together and directing them towards the way of the guards as the evacuation has started.)

???: "HELP! SOMEONE PLEASE HELP ME! OH GODS!" (Gareth heard this and snapped his head around as he sprinted off in that direction as he came into a open clearing just outside the village where there was once a mill, he looked around and quickly realized there was no one around.)

Gareth: "Hello? Where are you, I'm here to help."
???: "You're a fool, such nobleness just to be snuffed out here." (Gareth looked as a blade attached to a chain was sent flying at his head and he quickly realized there was no chance of dodging the attack.)

(As The Blade is about to connect with Gareth's skull, two hands appear as the blade completely shatters and this mysterious figure lands in front of Gareth.)
???: "Are you alright my boy?"
Gareth: "MASTER!"
???: "Stay behind me son, This creature is far more dangerous then the others."
???: "Right you are, You weakling. I am BENEDAN THE EXECUTIONER! I've Been sent to exterminate you all."

???: "Well, since you were so kind as to tell me your name, Monster or not I will return the Favor. I am Arakane Tetsuro, I hail from the Land of The Glowing Sun, I am the master of the lost technique known as Way of the Spiritual Fist."

Benedan: "Its useless to tell me who you are, you're going to simply be dust when I am finished here!"
Arakane: "That is a bold statement, lets see if you can back it up."
(As the two finish talking, Benedan regenerates his blade and begins to swing them in succession as he throws them both in different directions are Arakane, Arakane effortlessly dodges one and leaps landing on the 2nd one as he runs up the chain and flips over Benedan and proceeds to punch the air, emitting a massive column of air from his fist as Benedan was knocked into the ground as Arakane proceeded to do this in a circular motion around him stopping him from moving.)

Benedan: "Impressive for a weak human such as yourself, but you're going to need more then that." (Benedan roared as he leaped up and sheathed his two blades and started to engaged Arakane in hand to hand combat, Arakane effortlessly dodging every attack and answering with an even more impressive one, until Benedan was huffing and puffing as he grinned.)
Benedan: "You're a strong human, I hope we meet again in the future. Sadly my time is up here." (As Benedan said this and Arakane went for the killing blow, he slowly vanished as all the remaining demons started to swell up and Arakane quickly realized that they were going to explode.)

Arakane: "BOY IS EVERYONE EVACUATED? THEY ARE GOING TO EXPLODE AND TAKE OUT THE ENTIRE VILLAGE!"
Gareth: "Yes sir everyone is out."
Arakane: "Good, now we take our leave." (Arakane grabbed Gareth and quickly took two steps as they were now on a hill 1 mile away as the rest of the village stood there.)
Arakane: "Everyone get to moving, We have no time."

Gareth: "Where is Lucan?"
Mrs. Elmhurst: "He went back in there, The young Farris boy got lost and he wanted to look for him." (Mrs. Farris looked distressed as she waited for any sign of Lucan and her son.)
Gareth: "WHAT? WE GOTTA GET THEM OUT OF THERE!"
(Arakane stopped Gareth and looked saddened.)
Arakane: "Its too late my boy, their fate is sealed."

Inside the Village

Lucan: "Jonathan! Where are you kiddo, We have to get out of here!" (Lucan was running desperately around as he noticed the Demons were still and swelling.)
Lucan: "That can't be good."
Jonathan: "Lucan!"
Lucan: "There you are! Come on we have to get you to your mother."
(3 Demons emerged as he said this, they proceeded to jump on him and attempt to hold him down as he dodges them and grabs Jonathan and carries him with his good arm as he runs for the hill.)
Lucan: "Its going to be alright Jonathan, I won't allow anything to happen to you."

(Lucan was running as at the farthest part of the village the demons started to detonate and he looked back.)
Lucan: "Not good, I need to give it all I got."
Jonathan: "I'm scared."
Lucan: "Its alright!" (He said with a smile as he reached the edge of the village and he ran straight into a massive demon, he looked up as he immediately decided his plan.)

Gareth: "Master Look!" (Arakane doubled back and looked on as he saw Lucan faced with the demon and he took a step and was half way down the hill.)
Lucan: "Mr Tetsuro! Take Jonathan!" (Lucan tossed Jonathan with all his might as Arakane caught him.)
Lucan: "Go, I'll buy you some time." (Lucan said this as he dropped his shoulder and used all his force to push the demon to the ground as he then proceeded to get up with a smile and waved to Gareth and all the townspeople as he proceeded to explode with the village.)

Gareth: "LUCAN!" (He reached out as Arakane grabbed him and sprinted towards the rest of the group.)
Arakane: "Don't Boy! If you go and die too, then his sacrifice is for nothing!"
(As he sprinted off, the sight of the massive explosion engulfed the smiling Lucan as Gareth closed his eyes and shed a tear.)
