Chapter 26:
J-1: Angel of Death
This idea did not start life as an isekai - it was originally a post-apocalyptic story that existed as a one-liner in my notes document. But when the MAL X HF Isekai competition came up, it got a chance at life. I developed the entire thing aside from Jere’s wings for this competition. I loved writing it, and am excited to begin work on a second part. Depending on how things go, it’ll take more or less time to arrive - if you know me, you’ll know that at any given time I have 3-4 projects on the go. But whatever happens, I’ll see you soon!

Some Notes on Names and Pronunciation
The characters in this story and even the locations and objects have all had their names chosen specifically for them. Here is a list of the names, their pronunciation and the meaning behind each one, according to Google. I have adjusted the pronunciations of some names to better suit the character. In no particular order:
Characters:
Jere (Jeh-reh) - Variant of the name ‘Jerome’, meaning “Scared Name”.
Ylfa (ILL-fah) - Literally “she-wolf”.
Cyneric (Sy-ner-ick) - “Kingly Ruler”.
Eny (Enn-ee) - Short for ‘Enid’, meaning “Soul” or “Life” or “Spirit”.
Chav (Chav) - Short for ‘Chavdar’, meaning “Leader” or “Dignitary”.
Effie (Eh-fee) - “to use words of good omen”.
Places:
Yaffe (Yah-fee) - "Beautiful" or “Pleasant”.
Bellamy (Bell-am-ee) - “Beautiful Friend"
Woodrow (Wood-row) - Literally “row of houses by a wood”.

Parting Words
If you’ve made it this far, then all I can offer you is a heartfelt thank you. I write for my own enjoyment, but knowing that other people also enjoy what I write warms me in ways I struggle to find normally.
See you soon!

"And then it gets to me
Walls closing in slowly
Then it’s hard to breathe
It’ll try to think of the things
We could be.”
