Chapter 25:
[English] Clã de Ataque
[Editor's note:
Hello hello, everybody!
Is Clã de Ataque's back on a monthly schedule? Will Don and his clan be able to fend off the raid to Fracaleza? Check it out right after a message from our chief editor:
Our editorial is taking a stance, and we solemnly condemn all the war crimes that have been committed in this atrocious war! However, we particularly denounce the practices by the general Eyirid Demha which have been detailed through the weekend by various media outlets! ]
Constant screaming. People running frantically. The occasional growls.
The town has fallen into utter chaos.
The leaders from guilds try to create refuges within their HQ, but it'd still be a matter of time.
Don saunters within the streets. Was already humbled enough for a day. "How many of them?"
Accessing the situation. Sally answers, "At least four around here".
Betty draws her rapier, "If we assume a similar number all around town, we're talking at least twelve Jaguars"
"I wish we could save the people, but we'll have to keep together to actually have any chance to fight back. Move slowly towards the front of the AGRICULTORES."
They were a complicated group of orphans before, but ever since they got to this world, they stopped the bickering among themselves and became a unit. They needed each other, and they needed to fight somehow, so they succumb to their demons.
"Betty, keep it chill to slow down and confuse the beasts."
Betty had lost very strict parents, but as soon as her teenage years arrived, and she throws her first tantrum, escaping from her parents, they die in a tragic accident while looking for her. That crushed her heart and the seeds of her individuality.
Orders stopped being issue, so there was no other choice, she'd keep following the strictness. She danced gracefully with sorrow until she met Don. He doesn't treat her right, but his stern conduct and prideful demeanor were somehow comforting.
Their relationship was deceitful and distant, but somehow in this world there was power that stems from those feelings.
"Sally, your sword has the most range, you're the executioner. Bobby, you will defend the girls."
Sally and Bobby's parents were very neglectful and vain. They never loved each other, a rich salesman and a beautiful model. Functional enough for the pictures and dysfunctional enough for tabloids, the perfect Hollywood couple.
In an ordinary day, both of them were waiting for outside their school. The wait extended into the night, and the director took them home. Nobody came the next day, or the day after, either.
Turns out they were talking divorce and things got messy, their father was involved in a huge fraud scandal and their mother constantly being infidel. They rather vanish from the world than deal with it, and so they did without a single though spared for their kids.
Sally didn't quite understand at that time, but the mere thought of her parents would well up into her chest and burn into a rich flame, sporting colors such as anger red, yellow betrayal and a green disgust.
Upon arriving at the orphanage, she somehow sensed the same energy from Betty and Don. However, Bobby seemed to feel safe around them, and Sally would rather gravitate around them, than leave her brother.
"I'll lure them."
As for Don, not even I can tell you how Don got to where he is now. When he was sent to the astral plane, he simply convinced me that he was a great option for a protagonist and that he could make it entertaining. Books weren't selling, so I lent him my powers.
"We need to get rid of at least some on the move so we don't get too overwhelmed there!"
RAWRRR
One pounces at a villager. Don shoulders the beast. Draws his twin blades. They lock eyes.
A paw swipes faster than he can dodge.
[Plot Armor — 129pts]
However, it misses and he manages to jump backwards into the range of his group. The beast doesn't follow him. At least not immediately.
Its face starts morphing into more human expressions, starting by a cunning smile. The other Jaguars approach and follow the group with caution.
"I guess none of them is that gullible."
By the time they get to the front of the bastion they intended to protect, there are at least ten enemies around them.
Somehow, the youngest one, no more than nine years old, seems to be the most imposing. Siting dead in the middle.
"We beat you. This town is ours!"
"Are you under the impression I'm some kind of king here?"
"You're the strongest. Same thing."
"Yeah. Call me Don Hokage sama and see if you have any chance against us."
The leader is on the back, with two others. Observing. Studying.
Seven others are encircling our heroes, who are now back to back, a movement that is both mesmerizing and threatening.
On suddenly moves into the formation. Quickly stops. Goes back.
The four heroes stiffened up.
They failed the first test.
Some enemies turn into jaguars. All continue circling into a dizzying motion.
Sudden stop. From Bobby's direction. Another feint.
Bobby didn't notice in time, stumbled and unbalances the others.
From the other side, a jaguar takes the opportunity and pounces into Sally, who falls to her back.
A big paw swipes as she falls. Hits her sword hand. But misses by a few millimeters.
It is a war of attrition.
Feint into mistake. Mistake into retcon. Retcon into another feint.
"Interesting technique. Not what my spy told me. Did he not understand?"
Don's heart rate races and his pupils dilate, and he thinks, "What ? He knows how my technique works? This is terrible. There is no hope."
In the next feint, Betty slip. Before Don even notices, the boy moves extremely fast and sucker punches him in the chin.
He loses conscience immediately. Even though plot armor gets him back into conscience, it is too late. The formation is broken.
Bobby is trying to dodge anything and everything in the left, while Betty manages to hold on to some fight to the right.
He can feel the air temperature rising. The kid in smirking in front of him. He steps back instinctively into hair and blood. He wouldn't be able to convince me to retcon that anymore.
"AAARRRGHHHH"
Rages blurs every word his mind could try to come up with. He darts wildly through the chemistry, physics and engineering skill trees, learning everything.
For the first time in all these years, he uses a secret technique of his own.
[ NUCLEAR RAGE ]
Unfortunately, I cannot let him end everybody's stories with borrowed skill points.
