Chapter Thirteen: A Clear Purpose

I could feel the blood coursing through my veins. It felt... GOOD!!
...A long silence stretched between heartbeats.
It was then that I noticed people peeking from outside my room. 
They were my parents. I wondered why they were peeking at me?
Looking puzzled and with worried expression, they waved at me, beckoning with their hands.
What do they want? I don’t have time... for humans any longer.
I decided to go along with them downstairs to sww what was going on. 
They found seats in the main hall, sat down, then looked me straight in the eye. LV answered their beckoning as well.
“Son, sit down.” Dad wore a serious face.
“I never thought this day would come... I’m so happy my son is becoming a man~.” Mom held both cheeks in pure joy.
“A man...? What are you saying? I stopped being a man a long time ago... it’s a disgrace to be called a man.”
Hearing my response, they both stared blankly. 
{I get the feeling that’s not what they meant. It has something to do with the fact that I’m here.} LV spoke directly into my mind, calm as ever.
Huh? Are you telling me they can see you now? Come to think of it, even I can see you clearly now. 
“Who are you talking to?” my parents both asked at the same time.
They could tell I was talking to someone?
{Of course. You are not used to it and you are taking too long to answer them.}
I see.
The maids and butlers also stared from afar.
{I’ve figured out who the spies are. Want me to tell you?}
I’ve known that all along... let’s talk about it later; they are looking at me with strange eyes.
“I’m very certain you are talking to someone, but who?” Dad asked, clearly.
“Uhum! Uhum! Father, let’s go back to the topic, shall we?” Mom cleared her throat and got ready for business.
Thinking of possible explanations for why I was being interrogated, I sat and watched them as they turned to one another, trying to break the ice.
“Son.........” After a minute of telepathic debate, Dad began to speak.
“...I’ll get straight to the point... I know you’ve reached that age and can’t help wanting to do these ‘things’ but... do you mind explaining?”
“Huh?” I tilted my head, showing I didn’t understand him.
“SIGH. I shouldn’t expect you to know what I’m saying... Who is this girl?” He pointed at LV.
“Oh! You mean her...”
They nodded simultaneously.
My parents won’t believe me if I tell them... the spies won’t believe me either. But when the news reaches the elites who hired them... they would definitely know something is up, considering the attack a week ago.
“She’s a friend... I’ve known her for quite some time.”
“B-But we’ve never heard of her.” Mom replied in disbelief.
“Of course you wouldn’t... she’s been inside me... this whole time.”
They stood up immediately after I said that. “I-Inside you!!??”
“Yep, we’ve been doing... everything together.”
Dad sat back down with eyes as big as owls. “Everything?”
LV kept quiet with a huge smile on her face.
{I’m enjoying this.}
Of course you would... this is all because of you.
“By everything... including... ‘bathing’?”
“Of course... We bathe together... sleep together and eat together... the only problem is that she won’t let me enter her.”
“Enter her!!!??” What’s going on? They kept shouting.
“Come on~ Infinity. We haven’t known each other for long, of course I wouldn’t let you enter me...” LV acted coy, playing shy.
My parents stared at us like we were aliens.
“What are you saying...? You’ve been entering me... this whole time... why can’t I enter you?”
Hearing her nonsensical answer, I stood up and lashed out at her.
...A beat of awkward, heavy silence filled the hall.
“Umm... Son? Let’s talk about this another time, my brain can’t take all of this...” Dad suggested, dizzy with confusion.
Mom nodded at Dad’s suggestion.
“Ah... Okay.”
What’s wrong with them? They are acting weird.
After that, LV and I went back to ‘my’ room and I stood next to the window while she lay in bed.
I feel so much energy within me... I want to fight!
“Whoa!! That was so much fun! Did you see the look on your parents’ faces? Hilarious!”
She was still enjoying it?
“LV... let’s go train. I want to walk... in the sky.”
“...that’s right, I almost forgot. The gods are only going to be coming at us stronger than ever; we have to be prepared so we can prevent such destruction from occurring.”
...Whatever, I just wanna get stronger.
“Okay...” She got out of bed and came closer to me.
“I’m going to enter you now~ I’m not experienced~ so please be gentle with me~.” She spoke in a naughty, childish voice as she moved closer.
Why is everybody acting... weird today?
She then entered my body and we left the castle, heading deep into the forest some kilometers away from my home.
Earthquakes were everywhere... Ha’e’rrut had done a number on Academia.
{Wow! It feels so good being in here; I can replenish my energy directly~.}
Ignoring LV’s taunts, we reached the forest and LV issued a command. {Climb to the highest point you can; we’ll begin training there.}
Following her instructions I scanned the canopy and found the tallest tree. I leapt and landed on top of it.
This is perfect... it should be about forty meters.
{Good. Don’t think much of it... pretend you are walking on the ground and step on air... you have to clear your mind of all thoughts.}
Plenty easy... just who do you think I am?
“Pay attention LV... this is how a god does things... Are you watching, gods!?”
Of course they are.
And now... “HAHAHA THEY ARE NO MATCH FOR ME... GOOOOOO...”
I stepped on air with my left foot and...
BAAAM.
What the...? What did I do wrong?
I crashed to the ground instantly. 
Again! BAAAM.
Not yet. Again! Again! Again!! Again!!!
“HUUUUUUUUUH!!!??” I tried many times but failed.
“Why can’t I do it!!??”
Seeing that, LV smoothly slipped out of my body.
“You don’t have to think much about it... give me your hand.”
Sitting on the ground, I stretched my left hand to her.
“Feel the air around you and gently step on nothing...”
Looking directly into my eyes, she gently took a step and began to walk on air.
“HAAA she’s walking so elegantly...” Those words slipped from my mouth.
I followed her lead and gently stepped onto it with my right foot.
Huh? What’s this...? It’s like stepping on a balloon...
“Good, don’t pay attention to anything, just follow my lead...”
Slowly we rose higher and higher into the sky.
The ground grew distant... we were beginning to enter the clouds.
It felt as if she were stepping on concrete, yet the surface I stood on had the fragile give of a balloon that might burst at any second.
“Calm down; you’ll be able to do whatever you want in no time. You are a god, aren’t you?”

With those words it felt like I was walking on solid ground...
Wait... confidence! All I needed to do was believe in... myself.
Thinking that, I let go of LV’s hand.
“Whoa! Whoa!” I began to wobble.
“You can do it! You’ll definitely rise above all gods!”
With full concentration I planted both feet firmly as though on solid earth.
BLISS.
“My mind is very clear... I feel like I’m flying...”
“It feels great, right? This is what humans have sought since the beginning of time... how does it feel being the first human to walk on air?”
“Good, but... it’s not enough... not nearly enough.”
It was still very soft... but I could walk normally now.
“Bring out Zinertia...”
“Zinertia?”
“Yes... we’ll continue training up here.”

Huh!? My shirt vanished the moment I manifested it.

I changed its shape into a shield with a fifty-centimeter radius...
“Amazing!!” I’ve gotten really strong.
...But wait, I feel energy flowing out of me.
“You should reduce the size; the more particles you emit, the more energy you lose... but don’t worry. Try destroying something.”
“Something?” I looked around and glared at a mountain summit.
Using my speed and the power of Zinertia, I cut it off in 0.0001 seconds.
“Huh!? I feel... some energy coming back to me...”
“That’s right. The more you destroy, the more energy you gain.”
Her words made sense to me. Almost everything in the world is made up of energy. That meant destroying will so give me energy. 
To test my theory, I destroyed almost everything in sight. I was right and a lot of energy poured into me. 
I continued until the sound coming from Zinertia grew louder and my precision sharpened.
“...I think that’s enough destruction for now.” LV, who floated wherever I went, pointed out.
We trained until it got dark. It rained and stopped and the sun had gone down, but the snow intensified and the air grew bitter. Luckily for the gods, I could choose whether to feel my environment or not.
When we arrived home, I found a familiar face in the dining hall.
Hinata...?
{Oh, I forgot to tell you — she came to see you twice while you were out cold.}
Twice, huh? He shouldn’t have to worry about me. I’m the strongest in the whole world, aren’t I?
{Yeah yeah, whatever... I’m hungry so make sure you eat enough for both of us.}
Huh? They already know you’re here... why are you hiding again?

“OH~! Infinity~!...”
Hinata rushed over and hugged me tightly.
“I’m so glad you’re alright! I thought for sure you got caught up in the destruction... I’m so happy~.”
“...Umm...”

It seemed my parents had already had dinner, and Hinata waited in the dining hall in the company of two butlers.
Since Hinata wasn’t planning to let go, I waited patiently until she calmed, then went for dinner.
“Wow! I can’t get enough of seeing the way you eat... I bet that’s why you’re very strong!” Hinata chimed happily while leaning on his hands.
“HAHAHAHA I’m a god... of course I’ll eat like one. HAHAHAHA”
Hinata joined me and we talked about a few things over dinner.
Apparently school opens on Monday, three days from now.
It makes sense the school opens: Academia holds the world’s balance and for the sake of the rest of the world, it has to move forward — especially now that the whole world is in danger.
If we survive this, the Unity system will grow much stronger and the world will continue as it is.
I don’t know if it’s a good thing the world united or not; back in my original world nothing wad united. I grew up like this coming to this world so I don't know what to think. I haven’t experienced the wars that occurred a century ago. Where there is war there is destruction, and where there is destruction lives are lost.
There are still some minorities who prefer a world of chaos for selfish or political gain. I’m not saying the system has no faults, but to me... whatever happens... happens.
“Infinity~ do you mind if I stay the night here~? I’ve been waiting for you all day and it’s gotten so cold and dark outside. You don’t mind, do you~?”
What’s with the childish voice? He’s talking in the same pattern as Amira.
I ate a ton again today...

Because Hinata insisted on sleeping in my room, a bed was set for him and we stayed in the same room.
He kept bringing up topics to discuss, but I fell asleep while he talked.
{Infinity... Help me... Infinity...} At 2 a.m., a weak voice resonated in my sleep.
I opened my eyes and stared at the ceiling.
LV... did you hear that?
{I did. It sounded like someone is asking for your help... who is it?}

The answer arrived in my mind before she could finish her sentence.
