Chapter 7:
Aura Farmer オーラ農家
[📜 System Message]
[🌙 It’s time for your Nightly Routine]
[ 🌌Aura Farming Mode: Activated]
He scowled. “So this thing just flips on whenever it wants, huh? How the hell does this even work?”
[First Step: Take a Shower]
Nokia sat up, staring at the bare, 200-square-foot studio. His eyes scanned the corners, then narrowed.
“Take a shower?” He let out a cold laugh. “There’s no shower here.”
[📜System Message]
[There is a sink in the corner of the room that should work well enough]
"You seriously want me to boil water and pour it on myself? That will give me aura?"
[📜System message]
[Taking the time to properly cleanse oneself even in this circumstance will definitely generate aura]
“Tch. Guess I’ll have to boil some water.”
Meanwhile, across the city in Streamopolis, the stakeholders were clinking glasses in a lavish banquet hall.
“Ha! Did you see where they put that new influencer Nokia?” One cackled.
“He’s an influencer now—let him grind it out,” another said, smirking.
Ado burst out laughing, slamming his glass on the banquet table.
“C'mon guys why the hell did you put him in such a bad apartment?”
One of the stakeholders shrugged, grinning. “Well to be honest we thought it would be a good look for his chat. You know… humble beginnings.”
“Humble beginnings?” Ado retorted. “This isn’t humble beginnings. This is a train wreck of beginnings. He doesn’t even have a shower. The guy’s gonna smell like crap how is that good for his audience or his aura?”
"Well According to you he can farm aura right?" A man in a top hat sneered. "Aren't farms known for smelling like manuer?"
The banquet roared with laughter.
"Nokia.." Ado thought. "Don't take it personally"
"I've never seen anyone farm aura before. You truly are extraordinary. But even so... the life of a streamer isn't always glamorous... and the execs whop control the streams don't care about you until you have a gold star on your name... I wonder" Ado said looking out.
"Will you make here to this table at some point?"
Back in his studio, Nokia stood over a rusted stove, boiling a pot of water. He carefully poured the steaming water into a cracked plastic bin, then dragged it across the floor.
“Unbelievable,” he muttered. “This barely even counts as a shower.” He lifted the bin, dumping the hot water over himself in a makeshift wash.
[📜System message]
Bucket Shower Completed — +10 Aura]
Nokia glared at the glowing text.
“Ten Aura? Might as well not give me anything at all.”
[📜System message]
[Complaining Detected — -10 Aura. Net Gain: 0]
Nokia clenched his teeth. “This system’s really starting to piss me off.”
[📜System message]
[Yeah, well… you’re really starting to smell bad.]
Back at the party, a stakeholder chuckled into his wine.
"Still worrying about your Aura farmer Ado?" He laughed
“Not at all, he’s gonna make it.”
“You think so?”
“Yeah. He doesn’t even have any haters yet.”
"That’s true. Not a single hater… yet.”
“I know,” one of the stakeholders said, swirling his glass. “Just one hater can be devastating. A single bad comment and he could lose thousands of Aura.”
“So what’s next for him?” another asked.
“Let him rest for now,” the first replied. “His viewership is still low, but Ado sees potential in him. Lets take our foot off the pedal for now”
Ado leaned back, smirking. “I’ve hung around you people long enough. Time for me to do some Aura farming myself.”
He rose from the table, golden light flickering around him like an afterimage. “At least I gave him that Bronze card. If it wasn’t for me, you guys would probably have him frying burgers on the sidewalk.”
The room erupted with laughter.
“We did write that as a possible event,” one stakeholder admitted.
Ado shook his head. “I knew it. Well… that’s what it’s like to be an influencer.” With that, he vanished into the night.
Back in the cramped studio, Nokia had just finished his grimy makeshift wash when the system chimed again:
[📜 System Message]
[🌙 Nightly Routine, Part Two → Perform 1,000 Shadow Box Punches 🥊]
Nokia froze, staring at the glowing text hovering above him.
“…You’ve gotta be kidding me.1,000 shadow punches,” Nokia muttered, climbing to his feet. He rolled his shoulders, clenched his fists, and began.
At first, his movements were stiff. But as he found his rhythm, sweat began to drip down his temple. His punches grew faster, sharper, his body burning more and more calories with each strike.
“My speed… my agility… even my strength…” he panted between blows. “It’s all going up. This must be… the Aura.”
With each punch, a faint glow began to trail from his fists. As he swung faster and faster his entire body shimmered with light, flickering brighter as his breathing grew heavy.
“What is this glow?” he whispered.
Growing soaked with sweat Nokia tore off his shirt tossing it to the ground as he punched. As he turned his head toward his bathroom throwing a punch he caught his reflection in the mirror.
“Whoa…”
Staring back at him was a man completely transformed. He had perfect six-pack abs carved into his stomach, a chest broad and defined, shoulders and traps built like stone. His entire body looked chiseled, lean, and ripped beyond belief.
“I’m nothing like I was in my last life,” Nokia said, voice low with awe. “I’m even stronger than I thought.”
He snapped into a kick, then a series of punches, the room rattling with each strike. Finally, he slammed his fists into the metal plating of the wall. The steel bent and groaned under his blows.
“I’m even strong enough to break this now,” he grinned. “Now we’re really talking.”
[📜 System Message]
[Perform 1,000 Shadow Box Punches → Complete ✅]
“Haha, nice! But I’m not done just yet!” Nokia said, continuing his strikes.
Just as he found his rhythm, the sound broke through:
swivel! swivel! swivel!
Knock. Knock. Knock.
As the glow around his fists flickered, he turned slowly toward the door.
Wiping the sweat from his brow, he approached the door curiously.
“Hmm… who the hell could that be at this hour?”
He pulled the door open.
“H… Hi.”
Standing in his doorway was a woman in her early twenties, hair messy, dressed in rumpled pajamas. She looked half-asleep and more than a little irritated. But the moment her eyes landed on Nokia’s carved, glowing physique, she froze.
Her mouth hung open as she placed her hand softly on the bottom of her lip.
“Y-you…” she began to stutter.
“She’s cute…” Nokia thought.
She had short black hair that contrasted her pink pajamas quite drastically, but a rosy blush that mixed the two perfectly. She was cute and petite at about 5'5—almost a foot shorter than the 6'2 Nokia—and composed herself in a very reserved manner. Standing in the doorway twiddling her thumbs, she tried to maintain eye contact as she made her gestures.
“She’s so cute… but for some reason I’m not nervous at all… is this—” Nokia said, looking down at his hands. “My aura?”
Nokia’s gaze was relaxed and composed as he approached her. Leaning into the doorway he casually placed his hand above her looking down at her.
“Why are you here so late at night?” he asked confidently.
“You’re… you’re making too much noise. I’m trying to sleep,” she said, twiddling her thumbs.
“Oh yeh? And if I don’t, what are you going to do about it?” Nokia joked.
“I-I’ll… I’ll…” she said, going red.
“I’m just kidding,” Nokia said, lightening up. “I was doing too much earlier… I’ll try to do a better job quieting down.”
“Hey! You shouldn’t mess with a girl this late at night! That’s mean!” Dodo exclaimed.
“Hmm? If anything, shouldn’t you not knock on a guy’s door this late at night?” Nokia jived.
“Uhhh… you’re right!” the girl said, taking a step back. “I… I shouldn’t be disturbing you at this hour!”
“Wait,” Nokia said, calling her back.
“It’s perfectly fine… after all, you’re not disturbing me at all.”
As Nokia leaned on the side of his apartment door, he looked back at the girl who was steadily looking him up from head to toe. She couldn’t take her eyes off his body this way.
“Tell me,” Nokia said. “What is your name?”
“D…D…D…” the girl squeaked out.
“Haha, out with it,” Nokia laughed. “What is it?”
“It’s Dodo…” she answered softly.
“Well Dodo, I’m Nokia… and it is very late… do you plan on standing in my doorway all night?”
“Uhmm, you’re right! I should go back…”
“Or… I could make you some tea… and apologize for waking you up so late,” Nokia said earnestly.
“I… would like that very much,” Dodo said, stepping into his apartment.
