Chapter 8:
The wrong way to use magic in another world.
I tried explaining everything to this girl, using the same words we used to explain everything to Miss Iria.
But this time, the results were different...
Little Dragongirl: Eh... so... there is a prophecy? and you were summoned to save this world? There is another world? Eh...?
She seemed extremely confused, as if she knew practically nothing about this world. Could she have been summoned from another world, just like me?
Well-endowed Dragongirl: Let me explain her confusion. We have amnesia. We both woke up on a volcano with no memories. We don't even remember our families. We were adopted by a dryad, but she never really told us much about the world. It's been 5 years since we woke up without our memories.
Leonel: Ahh, that's why she seemed confused.
Well-endowed Dragongirl: So, if I understand correctly, you are not trying to save this world; you are just trying to return to your world.
Leonel: That's correct.
Well-endowed Dragongirl: But this Miss Iria that you mentioned... she said that you cannot return to your world, and even if you could, you wouldn't have a physical body over there.
Leonel: Well... that's true, but maybe there is a way... maybe...
Well-endowed Dragongirl: You also mentioned you are searching for a classmate. Coincidentally, we are looking for some people too. We are looking for anybody who may have been living in the volcano where we woke up 5 years ago. We heard that all of the fire draconers and mountain draconers left the place after a meteor hit the volcano. Even the one lava dragon who lived in the volcano went missing, which caused the volcano to go dormant.
Little Dragongirl: Maybe we can travel together for a while, since we don't even know where to go search for our relatives.
Well-endowed Dragongirl: That's a good idea. Maybe we can share the limited info we have about this world, and in exchange, you can tell us about your world. This might end up being a fun experience.
Little Dragongirl: That's a great idea! I want to learn more about this other world he mentioned! I can even teach him how to fight!
Leonel: Learning fighting skills and magic from a dragongirl... hmm... this could work. Then it's settled. I guess we will be traveling together for a while.
Little Dragongirl: YAY!
Well-endowed Dragongirl: Well, maybe we should introduce ourselves. My name is Astra, and apparently I'm a mountain draconer, a descendant of giant mountain dragons. I may not know how to fight, but I can use some basic earth-type healing and strengthening magic, although casting earth-type magic usually takes a while. Also, my body is quite sturdy, and my scales are practically indestructible.
Little Dragongirl: Ok, it's my turn now! My name is Faylinn, and I'm a fire draconer, a descendant of fire dragons! I'm better at fighting than Astra! Also, my scales may not be as sturdy as Astra's, but they are sturdy enough to stop any sharp objects, such as claws or blades! Also, also, also, I can use fire magic!
Leonel: Sounds like you will be very reliable companions. Feel free to call me Leo. That's what everybody calls me.
Faylinn: Ok Leo!
Astra: Sounds good to me. I hope we get along, Leo.
Leonel: So, before we get on this BABY land dragon's back to ride east, I have a question. And yes, that creature is baby-sized. No idea how big the adult ones are.
Faylinn: That's a baby!? It's bigger than me!
Astra: What was the question you were going to ask, Leo?
Leonel: As you know, I'm a human who was born with very little mana, and my body can't even handle the heat of my own fire magic. Is there something I can do about it? Otherwise, surviving in this world might be hard...
Astra: There isn't much you can do to naturally resist fire, but you could try using regeneration magic right before using your fire magic. It might reduce or even negate the fire damage to your arm. I heard some amulets can be used to cast simple regeneration spells. But of course, as long as I'm around, you won't need any of those amulets. I should be able to take care of your health as long as you don't go too far with your magic.
Faylinn: There is another thing he can do instead of just holding back on his power.
Leonel: What is it?
Faylinn: Just use your magic in a different way. For example, a blinding punch.
Leonel: Blinding punch?
Faylinn: It's like this. First, focus your mana on your left hand. Then, throw a punch toward your enemy, but let him block or dodge the attack. When your fist is moving forward, you create and launch a lot of tiny, insignificant fireballs, the size of your thumb. Most of them will be fired forward as a distraction, but some of them will go sideways; they will turn quickly and go toward your enemy's face, exploding right there and temporarily blinding them.
Leonel: Sounds complicated...
Faylinn: It is. But if you try hard enough, you will be able to learn it in just a few days. It requires a certain level of mana control and accuracy, but it doesn't require a lot of power; it will not burn your hand, and it will blind your enemy, giving you a chance to punch them with your right fist.
Astra: Sounds like a complicated tactical attack coming from someone as childish as Faylinn, but if Faylinn can do it, then anyone can do it.
Faylinn: HEY! WHAT DO YOU MEAN BY THAT!?
Astra proceeded to giggle in the most adorable way possible while Faylinn was becoming louder and louder.
These girls were like the exact opposite of each other, both in personality and looks.
Astra was like an older sister with a soothing voice and charming personality, while Faylinn was like a very energetic and potentially chaotic little sister.
It became clear that my travels were inevitably going to become more fun with these two around.
