Chapter 64:
The Sun Will Rise Again
I blinked and slowly opened my eyes. Something warm and comforting lay next to me. I tried to focus my gaze, but the stone ceiling danced before my eyes.
“Rina…”
A soft whisper, and I slowly turned my head towards its source, making my head spin.
“You are safe.”
I felt a warm touch on my chest, and I tried to take hold of it, but my hand was gently pushed back to my side.
“Rest, Rina…”
Selene’s face came into focus, and I frowned. A deep scar ran over her cheek, making her smile look strange and uneven.
“What happened…?”
I tried to reach for her face, but she pushed back my hand again.
“Rest, Rina. We are safe…”
“Where are we…?”, I asked weakly, watching the stone walls around us.
“Tarnis…”
She smiled, and a sudden pang of fear shot through my chest.
“The others…?
“They are fine”
I sighed in relief, and she wrapped her arms around me.
“Selene….”, I whispered. “Tell me… What will we do now?”
I closed my eyes and listened to her voice telling me about our home overlooking the sea.
