01.53 - The Mysterious Grey

In another subpocket of a void, two people, who in their own opinion weren’t paid enough for this shit, were about to leave for a long, long holiday weekend, when a letter materialized on their desk.

One of the blokes picked it up and scanned the sender and topic. “Hey man,” he said. “Looks like we just got a new bug report from a Level 12 Envoy. Says ‘Urgent’. Three exclamation marks.”

“Second pile to the right,” the other responded, about to disengage. “Right of ‘a matter of life or death’, to the left of ‘world ending scenario’.”

“You sure?” the first guy asked. “Janet’s out. I heard she’s on maternity leave. Won’t be back for half an eon.”

“Eh, they don’t pay us enough to mess with cosmic assembly or reality base code,” the second said. “Trust me, it’ll be just fine.”

“Besides, what’s the worst that could happen?”
