Chapter 33:
Blades of the Shattered Chaplets: 3rd Novel
Agatha’s and Akari’s tongues stuck out of their mouths, hanging down like they were in a tranced state. The air went cold and silent. Natsuki stood in front of Wally and Yahiko, looking as serious as the brother and sister. He stuck his sword in the ground and placed both his hands on the handle with the other side of the blade sticking up in the air, and the shard visible to all.
His body lit up completely dark blue and his hair changed white like before. His sword shined as he called out, “Breathless Mana Zone.”
A light blue and clear domain expanded out around all of them, sucking the air completely out of the area. It affected everyone, even himself, as everyone had no oxygen in their lungs at the moment and nobody could speak, which nullified chants. Everyone had to rely solely on speed, sword strength, and chaplets.
Wally and Yahiko flanked her from both sides and sliced at her hip. Agatha jumped up to avoid and Akari swooped in, slicing Wally’s leg before Natsuki rapidly came in and collided his knee with Akari’s face. Agatha came down, purposely swinging her sword at the ground, creating a hard vibration in the floor from the sheer power that she had. Natsuki sent out a series of attacks that nobody else could. The shard lit up on his sword, which allowed Natsuki to be the only one that could use abilities without chanting. Cupid’s Winding Arrow was activated, sending multi-colored arrows at both of them.
Wally chased Agatha along with the arrows as she spread away from them. She avoided them ultimately and they hit the ground, creating large smoke screens in the air. Wally jumped through and went to punch her without his sword. ‘Where is it?’ she questioned in her mind.
He threw a hard punch, which is when Agatha cut his hand off and landed. He looked up and smiled. He reached his hand out in the air, grabbing Yahiko’s sword, which came out of nowhere.
Yahiko was behind Agatha and snatched at a strange point near the ground. But, when he did this, he bolted towards her, his hands in a position as if he had a sword and sliced at her. She evaded the invisible sword, realizing that Wally must’ve broken a Render Chaplet.
Yahiko and Wally switched swords and headed off towards Akari, who Natsuki was currently fighting and winning against.
Akari threw a Blood Chaplet on the ground, knowing that he was in trouble. Natsuki sliced his body over and over, but Akari’s wounds healed instantly, however that was not his goal. Akari screamed out loud from the blood and was forced to breathe from the intense pain, but there was no air in the area.
Agatha went to scream, but couldn’t, knowing that she would end up the same. She threw 3 Breaker Chaplets down on the ground, which released smoke that chased after all of them. They all ran off in the same direction towards the end of the barrier. Natsuki was forced to remove it or the smoke would enter their bodies and shatter their organs. Yahiko threw down 3 Smile Chaplets around each of them, avoiding the spoke until it dispersed. They walked back over to the two, who were now essentially the same as before, healed and ready to go.
Natsuki: “There is a reason your name is held so high in fear, Agatha Rekka. However, we also have a title to uphold. There may always be stronger people in this world than us, but the reason we are given these titles are not for overwhelming strength, but for pride in protecting those we love.”
Natsuki threw an Ectro Chaplet down where pink electricity pulled them both into the area where they were.
Wally threw 2 Rose Chaplets down, placing them both inside of cages.
Yahiko: "Phoenix's Draft!”
A large Phoenix bird came rushing in from the air, targeting the ground in between the cages, exploding purposely into a large flame of fire that engulfed the cages. Akari and Agatha came out unscathed and jumped in the air towards Yahiko on purpose, trying to slice his head off.
Yahiko had another chaplet already prepared in his hands. A Levitation Chaplet that he broke and jolted up into the sky. The two couldn’t stop their swords from colliding into each other, which made a screeching sound so loud that it affected all of them heavily, but Natsuki did not stop regardless.
It was as if he didn’t even hear the sound.
He reached into his brown pouch and threw 3 Smoke Chaplets into the air. Akari waved his sword around in the air, which cleared the smoke immediately, but Natsuki blew dust from his sword into their space, creating a poison that filled the air and was going to enter their lungs.
Agatha did something that was unexpected, using a Sun Enhancer Chaplet on the air that killed off the poison from the immense heat, however her right arm became severely burned from its effects.
Agatha targeted Natsuki with a smile, sending a barrage of attacks at him, which he collided his sword with. Akari came up from behind, over the top of her, swinging his sword down. Red mana lines came out of nowhere from Wally, who used a Manipulator Chaplet, and it sent Akari flying and into the ground. He got back on his feet only to see Yahiko aiming for him at his face with his sword chanting, “Invasion of Species!”
In Akari’s eyes, it did nothing, so he got up and began to swing his sword at Yahiko, but then he felt dizzy. Yahiko’s ability chipped off a tiny piece of his sword that entered into Akari’s body and began to slice him from the inside. He tried to move again, but he could feel organs being cut up.
Yahiko stabbed him in the stomach as well, causing him to lose more blood than before. He tried to pull out a Healing Chaplet, but Yahiko knocked it out of his hand. He pulled his sword out and aimed at the boy’s neck before being blasted with an insane amount of mana from Agatha.
He tumbled across the ground, losing a leg in the process and screamed in pain. He took a Recovery Chaplet, healing his leg, but he was frustrated at what was going on right now. He looked over and saw Natsuki attending to Wally who was out of any kind of chaplets that would heal him.
Yahiko: “Wally! If you’re going to be a nuisance, then leave! We had a good chance there and Natsuki came over to help you!”
Wally: “I’m sorry! 2 more minutes. That’s all we need is 2 more minutes. The sun is setting. It’s almost time. Get ready!”
Yahiko: “Tch! You better survive until then.”
Natsuki broke a Water Chaplet, controlling 50 feet of water, trying to confuse Akari and Agatha by sending it their way. However, they weren’t confused at all, and specifically targeted Wally once Akari used another Healing Chaplet.
Wally: “Oh no you don’t! Bones of Incarcigen!”
The bones' random path disrupted their own path, but there wasn’t a need for them to avoid. They easily cut through them with the Dougen, swinging in a 360 degree pattern towards Wally’s head. The shard on Natsuki’s sword all of a sudden appeared in front of the man and when they both pointed their blades at it, it blocked both swords and released a gold shower of light, not allowing either of them to penetrate it.
Yahiko: “Sorry Natsuki, but I need that ability right now. Switcher’s Code!”
Natsuki was suspended for a split second before returning back to how he was. Yahiko had entered his body and copied his ability. His body darkened in a deep blue and his hair was now white as well. He had Natsuki’s abilities and Agatha’s abilities at the moment that he could use willingly.
Agatha grabbed Akari and jumped back, starting to run in the opposite direction. Yahiko used a Yellow Egress Chaplet, appearing right in front of them and chanting, "Phoenix Burst!”
The ground engulfed in flames again and from his mouth, he shot out a rapid laser of flames that he controlled, specifically to target them. Agatha used the same ability, cancelling it out as they suspended themselves for a few seconds, shooting flames from their mouths at each other.
Akari used his agility to swipe at Yahiko’s body, but Yahiko had used an Accompany’s Escort Chaplet that bounced him away with its jelly consistency. Spikes followed in its path towards Akari who focused and deflected all of them with his sword. Wally used an Ectro Chaplet, pulling him towards him, but Akari sliced at the electricity with the power of the Dougen sword, ultimately breaking it this time.
Yahiko came from the left side and crossed blades with him.
Wally: “10 seconds!”
Natsuki and Yahiko smiled as they exchanged swords with their enemies for the remaining time and then all of a sudden ran towards where Wally was without a second thought.
Natsuki pointed his sword at the twins, nodding his head as if he approved of their fighting style. He knew they were strong. They were evenly fighting with them without barely using any abilities, but only swordsmanship and chaplets.
While Wally and Yahiko’s sole focus was beating these two to find out where Iki was, Natsuki’s mindset had changed, seeing that they abandoned love for strength. He could not accept this.
Natsuki: “I may only be the 8th Reverend of the Great Swordsmen, but I did not throw love away just to fight people that I do not know. You’re going to tell me where Iki is. After this, you’ll be wishing you were dead. Witness why we are truly the top swordsmen of this world.”
The three of them pointed their swords at the sky and all called out the same phrase, looking at 10 different moons that appeared in the sky as night fell. Each one was a different color and size that was associated with their number. Natsuki’s was the third smallest and green. Yahiko’s was big and dark purple, and finally, Wally’s was in between both sizes and bright red in color. In the middle was a moon bigger than all of theirs combined. They all looked to the air and spoke.
All: “Bound by starlight and forgotten time, those that illuminate the world ablaze, heed my voice across the void, tear your tether from the sky, let gravity weep and shatter its knowledge…Lunar Descent!”
The ground began to shake and Agatha’s and Akari’s flames began to die down. They realized their mana was slowly fading for some strange reason. They looked up in the sky to see an immense shower of mana coming down from the sky that struck each of them with their corresponding colors. They screamed as this infused in their bodies.
Agatha couldn’t even get close, as the air was so thin that it prevented her from getting near them. When she looked back up, their appearances were different. It was like they were monsters.
Natsuki’s ability showed a fraction of what this was in her eyes.
Each of them were completely covered in mana along with their swords that no longer showed designs, but just a glowing color besides Natsuki’s that still had the shard on the edge of his blade. Mana sparked off of their bodies from the intensity that it brought. In Agatha’s mind, it was as if she was fighting 10 Great Swordsmen right now by herself. She had never seen this type of power display before. She looked up at the sky once more to look at the moons and in the middle was the biggest moon…A gold color that shone amongst all of them. She questioned her own strength now, considering that these men in front of her weren’t even the strongest.
Looking at her brother, she knew she couldn’t defend herself and protect him at the same time and she couldn’t use her trump card either.
She wavered.
Agatha: “Alright. Fine, you win. I’ll tell you where h–”
Before she could finish her sentence, Natsuki was already in front of her face as she slowly turned her head, not expecting this to be the case.
Akari: “Agatha! Look out!”
She raised the tip of her sword, which caught Natsuki’s barely before she could regather herself. The tip broke and Natsuki continued his barrage followed by Yahiko and Wally.
All they could do was run.
Agatha threw down a Defect Chaplet and 2 Luck Chaplets to increase the outcome of the fire and water that was produced. It numbered 8 out of 10, producing a swirling wind of fire and water that could stop 100 elephants. However, the three of them trudged through as if it was a speck of dust.
Akari then threw down a Crystal Chaplet that brought them to a domain completely controlled by them. Akari gathered every crystal possible and created shields around them, but it was no use. The three of them shattered them like it was nothing and the domain fell to pieces.
Agatha: “Akari! Now!”
The brother and sister banged their swords together that created a shockwave of sounds that shrieked like a phoenix. It didn’t even knock them back a second. They closed in on Akari, aiming their swords at him, when Agatha jumped in front and was stabbed with all three mana swords. Blood spewed from her body and mouth as she coughed up an insane amount. Natsuki kicked the sword out of her hand that held all the Healing Chaplets to ensure she wouldn’t use them.
Akari: “Agatha!!!”
He swung his blade profusely at the three of them. Wally kicked his sword away, punched him into the ground and stepped on his chest. Yahiko came over and stuck his sword in his leg, as he screeched in pain. Their mana lines went away along with the increased power from the Dougen sword. The three of them peered at both of them with their beady dark eyes and returned to their normal appearance.
Natsuki screamed at the girl.
Natsuki: “Don’t ever abandon love! Who will save you in times of need, huh?! Who will come and help you?! Who will care for you?!”
Agatha: “I-I could care less right now, you…fool. I-I’m dying here.”
Yahiko: “Natsuki. I know you have your morals, but that’s not what we are here for right now…Agatha and Akari Rekka, where did your people take Iki?
Akari: “Get off of me!”
Agatha: “Akari…St-Stop. They will kill you. I-If you people would have thought with your heads, then you would’ve figured it out.”
She coughed before continuing.
Agatha: “Tell me one thing before I tell you…Y-You said before that I killed Kastor. What do you mean by that?”
Natsuki: “That is right. You supposedly killed Kastor. You don’t remember? I’m not sure myself, but I cannot give you another answer. I will not and I cannot.”
Agatha looked over at her brother and began to cry. All of a sudden, the expression on Akari’s face went away as the Dougen sword dispersed in the air for him. He returned to his usual persona, starting to act like the woman he dressed up as before. He puckered at the air as if trying to kiss the men, not even recognizing the pain in his body from the sword instilled in him.
He had gone crazy again.
Agatha cried her eyes out, knowing that she wouldn’t be able to protect him if she was going to die.
Natsuki’s eyes opened up as he sensed an ounce of love in Agatha again. He wavered in his decision at this moment, knowing that she abandoned even the love for him earlier to gain power, but he couldn’t kill someone that showed love, not even right now.
Natsuki: “Agatha…I will not kill you, but tell me where Iki is. Tell me where our leader is. I can’t say that I can hold these two back from killing your brother unless you tell me.”
Yahiko: “Natsuki, are you insane?! Yes, we are killing them. If it wasn’t night, then we would’ve been in a stalemate until our mana was drained.”
Wally: “No, step aside Yahiko. Let Natsuki do what he wants. Don’t mess with a man’s values. It’s the life he chose.”
Agatha: “Th-They are at Celenar Encrodian. I don’t know where, but I know they are there. That’s all.”
Natsuki: “Let’s go. We don’t have time to waste.”
He pulled out a Yellow Egress Chaplet and the three of them went to Celenar Encrodian while it was still night time. They could wreak havoc until they found Iki if that’s what it took…
Agatha: “A-Akari…G-Go get my sword. Agh…”
She couldn’t think straight with all the blood being drained from her. She promised herself that if anything put Akari in danger again, then she would use the Dougen’s abilities, however both of them were limited from the antimatter they were shrouded in as a child.
Their mana cores were severely weakened ever since and every time she used an ability, her mana core would crack more and more. If it shattered, there would be nobody to protect her brother. Even in this fight, she chose not to use her strength, believing that Natsuki would spare her based on his morals. She risked this, but came out correct in the end.
Akari handed her the sword as she used Healing Chaplets. Instead of one that usually healed her completely, she had to use 2 for some reason until it took effect and she was back to normal. She figured she would have to find more later.
Akari: “Oh, Agatha! I want to go play in the forest! Will you come with me?!”
Agatha: “Sure. Let’s go. We can play all you want.”
