Chapter Eighty Eight: A Moment's Rest

After Etis appeared out of nowhere, the grandpa temporarily shut down the inn. The diner is no more serving food and the tenants have all evacuated. He made an exception for us and allowed us to stay.
It seems the news of what happened has reached everywhere. Meila was already popular in this town so seeing her with me made him a bit worried. I told him that everything had been taken care of and that he didn’t have to worry. We were not being followed.
I went straight to the sacred land from the mountains in this town so I didn’t know what happened here. The grandpa told me that a few knights were stationed in front of the inn until a while ago when I appeared in front of the king.
Since they’ve been keeping tabs on me before hand, they knew the places I was most likely to go. I’m afraid even Taht might have been under their watch up until now. 
The news was spread all over the capital and the securities reacted like they were just waiting for something like this to happen. It was a collaboration between the guards, adventurers, knights and heroes.
I’ve always known that whatever happens to me in this world is planned by the person who brought me here, but I was really lucky back in the dungeon. That demon was way beyond my abilities. I couldn’t even see his movements. If it hadn’t been for that demon sword, I most certainly wouldn’t have gotten out of there. Perhaps it knew how dangerous the sword was when it took it from my hand.
The stone I got in return just proved how complicated my life here really is. The thing I needed the most in order to save Leila was given to me at the cost of defeating that monster. I’m glad it turned out alright.
Seeing all the commotion that happened in this city today, one would assume a real demon king showed up. Well, they wouldn’t be wrong even if they did. To be able to take out five heroes at the same time, I never thought it would be possible for me to do such a thing.All this while, the measure of my abilities has been on monsters alone. I never fought back at a person so I wasn’t sure how strong I was compared to the people of the races. But now I know the difference between us is great.
It was obvious in the first place. No one in their right mind will fight in the dungeon alone. They wouldn’t reach the twentieth floor even if they were in a party. But I did more than that by myself. That goes to show you that I was five times stronger than normal people in the twentieth floor of the dungeon. Now that I’m over fifty………………..
Self assessment aside, I’m really glad all the heroes aren’t currently in the capital. Heroes number 1,2,4,6,8 based on abilities are In the human country. The scariest among them are the king’s children. Hero number 1 and 2 who have the demon queen’s fragments embedded in them.
Among the two of them, I have ever only seen the 2nd hero. The king’s second daughter is said to be on a a quest all over the world to find a life elixir for her father. She’s said to be travelling alone despite all the dangers. It would have turned out ugly if they were here.
Even with the five heroes I defeated, I was somehow lucky my upgraded shield acted in time. I wouldn’t have been able to render them motionless with just my defense. The demon mask on the shield most have exponentially increased its strength.
The girls told me about what had happened after they got abducted from the cave. The heroes personally took them away using a gate to teleport from the mountains to the sacred land. An army of adventurers was kept waiting for my return.
The girls were taken to the castle and imprisoned in the underground jail cells that were meant for criminals within the important people. The only reason they were taken there was because the king had matters to settle with them.
A few hours later, they were called in front of the king. He was angry. He yelled at them at every chance he got. He planned on quenching his anger at both them and the noble. All that because of a life vase that was destroyed.
Instead of a hearing, it was more like a one sided argument. The noble was to be stripped of his position and power over the gate town, and the girls were to be killed. The punishments were so severe. The noble tried begging but to no avail. In the end, he also pushed all the blame on Leila. He said she wanted to steal the vase despite knowing it was for king. But with a death penalty, what more punishment could be added on Leila?
And as for the heroes, they were apparently prepared to perform a forbidden sealing ritual on me the minute I landed. They formed a pentagon around the area I was expected to enter through and waited. After casting the magic, all they had to was touch me. After each of them has touched me, then I’ll be transported to an unknown location imprisoned in ice. My shied really came through for me.
Leila was the happiest I’ve ever seen her. Yet in with that happiness, she cried her eyes out “Thank you!! Thank you!!” she kept on repeating. 
I wanted to let her know that what she did for me was much greater than this “Don’t be stupid. Compared to what you’ve done to me………..” but I couldn’t finish that sentence. She nodded in denial strongly.
We stayed in Etis’ room for more than thirty minutes after that. She showed no signs of movements and just laid there unconscious.Meila burst into a new wave of tears seeing her like that “Is sis really going to be okay~?”
It was a much more tiring day for the both of them including myself. I’ve been way more beat than I was, but I’ve never had so many episodes happen to me in just one day.
Etis disappeared, I fought with Lust, I fought a demon, fought the heroes and confronted the king. No matter how I look at it, all these things shouldn’t happen in just one day.
