Epilogue

“Congratulations!” we all shouted at once.

Several years had passed since I returned to my world, and now, together with my family and a few friends, we were celebrating at my restaurant the release of Liz’s first novel.

“Th-thank you! Although, it’s a little embarrassing…” she replied.

“What are you talking about? This is your day, enjoy it, dear,” my mother said.

Liz and I had made our relationship official practically from the moment she arrived in this world, and although my parents had been startled at first that the girl who crawled out from under my bed turned out to be my girlfriend, they gave their approval once they got to know her better and realized she was truly a lovely girl. Sometimes I even think they like her more than me…

“Food’s ready!”

While everyone was congratulating Liz, I had prepared a banquet for the special occasion. It had been hard work given the sheer number of dishes, but it had definitely been worth it, and I was proud of the result. Besides, running my own restaurant had long since accustomed me to cooking in large quantities.

We all sat down and began to eat, and, as always, Liz was enchanted by my cooking. Even though I now prepared meals for her every day, she never seemed to grow tired of it. This girl was one of my greatest motivations to get up every morning and cook.

“By the way, what’s your book?” asked my older brother.

“Ah! That’s right!”

Liz jumped up from her seat and went into a room we used as storage, bringing out a box which, when opened, revealed a handful of copies of her brand-new novel.

“I asked them to give me a few so I could hand them out. I hope you’ll like it!”

Liz walked around the table, giving a copy to each person present—even to me, even though I already knew the story by heart since I had helped with it.
