Chapter 22:

When Two Hearts Unite

Echoes Beneath Forgotten Stars Volume 2

Aiko stood in her chamber, her heart pounding wildly, her hands trembling slightly. Thoughts swirled around all the events that had led them to this day, when suddenly she felt a quiet whisper—Akihiko’s thoughts, flowing like soft, soothing waves.

"Aiko… every step you take, I will feel it. I feel you, I feel your heart… everything will be alright."

She smiled faintly, shivering slightly. "Akihiko… I feel you too. Even if I don’t see you, I know you’re there. I know we’ll be together."

Meanwhile, Akihiko stood in his own chamber, hands clenched, his thoughts with her. His heart was full of longing and tenderness. He could feel her presence, even though distance separated them, and it gave him strength. "No matter what, Aiko… today is our day. Just trust me."

This silent mental connection calmed them, bound them together, and gave them the sense that, despite the physical distance, they were already one. Every breath, every heartbeat, every thought—everything was meant for each other, emotionally and spiritually prepared for the moment they would finally meet at the altar.

Akihiko turned his gaze toward the curtain and glanced at Naoru. "Naoru… do we have the rings?"

Naoru quickly rummaged through his pockets and bags, his face tightening with brief concern. "Uh… uh… I think…"

Akihiko looked at him, expression neutral but slightly puzzled—not sure if this was a joke or a serious problem.

Finally, Naoru smiled and shrugged lightly. "Hahaha… I scared you for a moment. Of course, we have them!"

Akihiko shook his head slightly, warmth in his eyes. "Naoru… how could I not care for you as a friend and ally?"

Naoru showed him the rings, shining in all their refined beauty, ready to become symbols of their love and connection on the wedding day.

Aiko stood in front of the mirror, slightly worried, her heart racing faster, her thoughts swirling around the day ahead. Mika tried to calm her, but controlling her nerves felt difficult—until Ren entered. His eyes shone widely, lips slightly parted. "Wooooooow…"

Aiko blushed slightly and turned to him. "Ren…" she whispered, slightly breathless.

"You look… stunning, Princess Aiko," he said, eyes full of sincere admiration. He bowed respectfully. "Everyone will be amazed. And… yes… so will I."

A smile spread across her face, her heart fluttering—Ren’s support and sincerity gave her strength and peace, despite the nervousness before the wedding.

Ren gently took her hand and winked. "Today will be perfect. I promise."

Aiko took a deep breath, feeling a wave of courage and warmth, ready to step forward into the day that would change her life.

She stepped onto the beginning of the castle corridor, her heart racing wildly, hands trembling slightly, breath uneven. Each step echoed in the silence, broken only by the soft whispers of the staff and gentle sounds of music. Her wedding dress glimmered softly in the morning light, her reddish hair and tiara glowing faintly as if catching every ray.

Each step was a moment filled with longing and anticipation. She felt every heartbeat—her own and the one she sensed in her mind, Akihiko’s. His quiet whisper merged with her thoughts:

"Aiko… every step you take, I will feel it. I feel you, I feel your heart… everything will be alright."

She clenched her fists slightly and took a deep breath. "Akihiko… I feel you too. Even if I can’t see you yet, I know you’re there. I know we’ll be together."

Every breath, every glance, every muscle in her body—everything showed that this pre-wedding moment was immensely important and unforgettable.

As she slowly walked toward the hall, memories of first touches, dangerous moments, and days when she thought she had lost him flooded her mind. And now he was here—alive, real, the love of her life.

Akihiko stood, slightly nervous, facing the entrance, his eyes softly lit. He felt every step she took, every heartbeat. His chest trembled slightly with longing, his heart strong yet calm. When he saw Aiko, for a moment his breath caught—she was more beautiful than he had ever imagined. All the past struggles, dangers, and doubts melted away in an instant.

Their gazes met, and Aiko’s breath stopped as well. Time seemed to pause for a heartbeat—love, fear, joy, longing, relief—all reflected in their eyes. Aiko clenched her fists lightly and inhaled deeply to steady herself. Each breath pulled her closer to him.

Akihiko smiled faintly, a smile carrying all their shared pain, every danger overcome, every promise made: "Finally, I have you by my side. I will never let you go."

Aiko shivered lightly, inhaled deeply, and stepped toward him with her heart full of love. Her eyes were bright and radiant, overflowing with emotions words could not capture. Each step was like a dance, a prayer, a heartbeat that would bind them forever.

Hiroshi and Emiko sat nearby, their eyes wide, mouths slightly open, utterly captivated by the sight of their daughter. Their faces glowed with pride and happiness, hearts full of love. "Look at her, Hiroshi… our princess," Emiko whispered softly, tears of joy in her eyes.

At that moment, Akihiko’s and Aiko’s thoughts and energies were perfectly connected—before even meeting physically, their hearts beat as one. The world around them almost ceased to exist; it was only the two of them—and the power of their love, which would shine fully today.

The hall was beautifully decorated. Candles of soft golden light glimmered gently, floral arrangements of hand-picked flowers stretched along the aisle, each breath filled with anticipation.

Guests sat at their places, whispers and smiles filling the space. The sounds of melodies softly played by the orchestra filled the hall, yet the tension was palpable—everyone felt this would be a moment never to forget.

The king stood behind Akihiko. The queen slowly took her throne. Ren stood to the side, slightly excited and concerned for his brother’s emotional state. Naoru and Mika, accompanying Akihiko, exchanged brief glances—they knew everything would go according to plan, yet the tension was tangible.

As Aiko walked step by step toward Akihiko, he felt each step like a gentle touch on his heart. Their eyes met—without words, but with all the emotions they could not hide: joy, relief, longing, love. For a moment, both of them simply froze, breathless at the sight of each other, overwhelmed by the depth of what they felt.

When she reached Akihiko, he gently yet formally took her hand. Their palms touched—still in ceremonial posture, but in that touch was all their connection. Aiko inhaled deeply and gently squeezed back, feeling the peace and love surrounding her.

The king slowly began the formal speech while Akihiko and Aiko listened to every word. Words were important, but their eyes spoke everything that words could not: "Finally, we are here, together, despite all dangers, despite all trials."

When the moment came to exchange rings, Akihiko remembered Naoru’s joke and smiled faintly. Aiko noticed the smile and blushed slightly—she felt the security and closeness his gaze offered.

The king slowly presented the first ring—a special metal glowing softly in red-gold, reminiscent of Aiko’s aura. Akihiko took it, hands trembling slightly, but a smile brightened his face. Their gazes met, and for a moment, the world around them lost all meaning.

Akihiko gently took her hand and slid the ring onto her finger. Warmth, longing, relief, and love poured into a wave of emotion they both felt. Then it was Aiko’s turn. His ring, a metal gleaming in blue-white reflecting his aura, was gently placed on his finger by Aiko. At the touch, they both felt their hearts beat as one, as if they had become inseparable.

They stood like that for a few moments, holding hands, gazing into each other’s eyes. Words were unnecessary—everything was in their eyes, in every tremor of their bodies, in every breath.

When they kissed, they pulled back slightly to look into each other’s eyes. Their long-connected energy began to intertwine, glowing around them like an invisible vortex of light. Their auras—Aiko’s red-gold and Akihiko’s blue-white—merged into a beautiful harmonious glow that filled the hall.

The rings they exchanged reacted to this energy. They shone in the colors of their auras, bright and vivid, as if confirming their bond on the deepest level. Every pulse of light reflected their love, strength, and commitment to each other.

Akihiko gently held Aiko’s hand and whispered:

"Now we are truly one, Aiko. All the trials, all the dangers… it was all worth it to be with you."

Aiko smiled, her eyes shining with happiness, and replied:

"I always knew, Akihiko… now there’s no doubt. We’re together."

They embraced tightly, feeling each other’s heartbeat. The world around them paused for a moment—time, space, and all worries vanished. Their bond was no longer just formal, but fully sealed on an energetic, spiritual, and heartfelt level.

The rings still glowed, as if to show everyone that they were truly connected for life.

Akihiko slowly bowed his head, his hair glowing slightly in the morning light, and kissed Aiko. At first gentle, as if capturing every moment, then slightly more passionate, longing, filled with relief to be by her side again.

Aiko leaned slightly toward him, enveloped by the warmth of their love, and returned the kiss. Her heart raced wildly, yet calmly—finally, they were together, safe, and loved.

A soft applause echoed through the hall, but to them it seemed as if no one else existed—they were just the two of them, hearts connected, bodies side by side, thoughts intertwined.

Naoru and Mika, watching from the side, exchanged smiles—they saw that all dangers were, for now, past, and that their task had been successfully completed.

Ren, the younger brother, blushed slightly seeing his brother’s and Aiko’s happiness, his joy filling him to the brim.

Aiko and Akihiko remained in each other’s embrace for a few more moments, kissed once again, slowly, tenderly. Each heartbeat merged into immeasurable love that would accompany them for the rest of their lives.
