Chapter 44:

Angers

God Games

Staring at Shina's sleeping form, Falsity lets out a smirk.

Tomorrow you will have such a feast that only one could dream of. Doubt they can rival you at all

The black room stayed empty; there wasn’t any sound to be formed or any person playing chess pieces opposite her. The endgame of the season was proving to be lonely; she knew this would happen, especially since she was playing with her main rival all this time.

I'm going to suggest that idea; not only should I get majority support, but also even my opposition should vote with me, since they are more powerful.

She steps up from her chair, her peasant dress fluttering despite no wind. Falsity starts pacing around the room, considering the likely scenario that could occur.

Purity Division and our alliance will say yes; the remaining, I doubt, will agree, but at the same time, using their pride against them is a good choice.

Her steps echo across the never-ending darkness. It was a brilliant idea, she thought.

Deities are even easier than mortals to understand, so disheartening.

She walks out towards the door, her walking being purposeful and deliberate, and the door starts to manifest itself into reality. The greeting of the red carpet and wooden overlook that stares down at the lobby meeting her like every other day

Taking herself out of the room, she walks out towards the hallway, each door still empty, symbolising her division's failure, walking towards the grand staircase. Her eyes glare at the opposition, making their way.

“What a day to have a team, isn't it?” she said sarcastically.

The purity division ignores her; however, the obvious bait towards their fallen comrade after that one-sided fight was something they would rather not talk about anymore. It was embarrassing after all.

Falsity waits for them to pass, after which she descends herself. There wasn't a reduction in the number of deities around, meaning it seems everyone survived the sudden alliances that happened.

She walks towards the corner table like usual, seeing Era and Silas sitting down with grim faces. Falsity already knew, however, why this is the case.

“Where is Koraxa?” her tone feigning confusion

Silas let out a small glare towards her, like it wasn’t obvious what happened; even Era knew it was pretty easy to guess.

“Seems your devoted believer decided to go crazy,” Era said in a monotone voice.

Falsity puts her hands down on the table. “Of course she has; having to carry so many people within you, even passively, must be destroying her from the inside.”

“You are cruel; tell me that Koraxa’s vanishing is beneficial, however.” Silas quickly glanced towards her.

She smirks widely. “That flying primal idiot was useless to begin with. So yes, this is a better resolution to our problems.”

“Fine, whatever,” Era said bluntly before lying her upper body on the table again. She couldn't care less anymore; it was over the moment they started their alliance.

Falsity claps her hands together. “Let's begin our changes.”

She clears her throat before shouting out.

“Management, I have a request to make things more interesting.” Her voice was firm and suggested no nonsense.

Without a shiver of sound coming out from behind her, she feels a cold tap on her shoulders.

“So suggestions are still allowed, it seems, despite trying to get rid of me; it seems you are still bound by the rules from above.” Her gaze turns around, seeing the suited metallic entity.

“Lady Falsity, you are all equal in our view, even if you do despise us; it doesn't mean we do.” There was no warmth behind his words.

She lets out an internal laugh. “I want all deities to get involved within the god games, be they stronger or weaker than me. We won't be bound by rules, but we will not be allowed to harm each other's mortals under any circumstances.”

“That sounds reasonable to us. We will announce your idea, and if you gain the majority, it will be put in as tomorrow's event.” The robotic entity then bowed down before just turning into nothingness. Not even smoke or disposition to suggest he went

Silas and Era, seeing the conversation unfold, gave a worried glance.

“Management is something else; they are robots, but I can't even figure out their internals,” Era scoffed.

Silas added, “They move like machine parts but then proceed to flip it completely; it's rather unnerving.”

Falsity sighs out, “Enough worrying about them; they can't affect us even at the end of the games. We were protected after all from above to ensure fairness.”

They nod before the lights dim out, the spotlight starts to move towards the top of the staircase, and the robotic entity is back with his servants on the overlook. Their gaze was piercing down on all the deities as if they were clearly above them.

“Today we have a suggestion.”

All the deities started murmuring among themselves; this wasn’t a common thing that occurred.

The passive nature of the deities is really getting on my nerves; it seems all the old ways have been abandoned after all.

The robotic entity continues, “You have the chance to join the god games this season, down within the mortals that represent you; you, however, may not harm any of them.”

More chatter emerges. Justice, on the other corner, was staring towards Falsity. Who else could have suggested such a weird event?

Justice stood up from her seat, her small form with white and golden clothing flowing down the floor, painting it heavily.

She softly speaks up, “Are deities allowed to intervene with each other?”

The robotic entity nods before talking again, “Deities may sort themselves out with each other, be it deals, fights or whatever they wish.”

Justice sits back down before conversing with her division. It sounded way too good to be true, but they couldn't let this opportunity pass by so easily, considering their combined strength was unbeatable.

“Purity division accepts,” she spoke up.

The entity moves onto Falsity.

“My alliance accepts,” a slight smirk hiding.

Then its gaze moves towards the final third alliance; still debating among themselves, they were the most disadvantaged in this situation, but seeing everything piled against them, they had one question.

A little purple spirit orb spoke up. It looked like it was made of some gel. “Do both parties have to agree to sort things out?”

“Of course, one-sided confrontation isn't fair,” the robotic entity spoke.

There just had to be some catch to this deal. They managed to twist my deal against me somewhat. I should've specified exactly what I wanted, as their interpretation of it this way is still fine with what I said.

The orb speaks up.

“We accept,” its voice was watery.

Even still, that's fine. I'm planning not to get directly involved in fights anyway; feeding my mortals all they need is my plan, after all.

The robotic entity continues, “Since we're all in agreement, you all will be transported to your alliance campsite when the day begins.”

With that said, it began to move its servants away from the overlook before vanishing, leaving the deities to fend for themselves until the morning light broke on the next day.
