The Interruption

The hall’s windows exploded into a shower of glass. The people who were under them were in a kneeling position shielding their head with both hands as the rain of glass came down. The shards of glass sliced their exposed skin. Hooded figures in masks soared and entered through the jagged window frames, landing lightly on their feet with their cloaks fluttering behind them. As they touched down on the hall floor, they raised their hands to cast a spell. A giant tumbling snowflake appeared rolling at the crowd, freezing them with its icy presence. Grandmother Mimi pulled Pim in her arms and conjured a small barrier for them that warded off the freezing spell’s effect.

 Grandmother Mimi flexed her muscles to have her veins pop out. She grabbed two of the intruders and put them in a chokehold. The one passed out after frantically gasping for air. Some of the intruders witnessing that started to flee.

“Hold on, come back here!” Grandmother Mimi yelled. She ran after them waving her arms around.

Amidst the disarray and confusion Pim ran around looking for Scarlet, he was worried she might have been hurt.

Flen found him wandering around and picked him up. He was kicking his feet up in the air in defiance. He kicked his tough hooves onto Flen’s sides.

Ouch

“Shhh Shh, she’s fine don’t worry.” He whispered. Scarlet was passed out behind the curtains. Her eyes were closed, and she was lying on her back motionless. Pim’s facial expression was filled with worry. He nibbled on her hand to try to wake her up. When Pim was not looking, Flen moved his palm toward the back of Pim’s head. Pim’s eyes began to close, and his body slumped to the floor, he was fast asleep.

Flen placed a shiny gold mask with colorful tassels over his face. It stood out from the gray colored crowd. He unsheathed an elegant, sharp-tipped rapier. He scanned the area, his gaze swept left and right, hoping to spot someone.

The Cosmocrats gathered around Theo, serving as protection for him. With his every move, they swiftly followed behind him to block others from seeing him. They made their way to a hidden place in one of the chambers where very few knew the location. On the outside, there were talismans that emitted an electrical field when there was forced entry. There were soft footsteps following them. Flen was being quiet as he could, and he transformed himself into their shadow. He saw Theo hiding in the room.

Theo demanded they leave the building, but the Cosmocrats refused his request for his own safety. The group of Cosmocrats separated into various directions to capture the rebels.

How could this have happened? Who are these people? Theo wondered to himself.

He heard footsteps approaching him rapidly.

Slash Slash

The pottery, vases and artwork were sliced smoothly in half. Every cut caused loud breaking noises.

Flen boldly stood before him, he moved his sword deeply to Theo’s throat.

“I should have killed you a long time ago.”

“Well, now’s your chance.” Theo smirked.

“I know who you are.”

Flen flinched, “So, what? You won’t remember this, once I sever your head.”

He pressed the pointy part of his blade deeper into Theo’s neck, causing blood to trickle.

"You don’t have the nerve to kill me. You tried and tried but you can't."

"I won't forgive your family for hurting her."

"You know, I didn't have a say in the matter."

Theo saw an opening and moved both palms of his hands toward Flen.

He created a small whirlwind, blowing Flen slightly away.

“You and your tricks!” Flen yelled.

Flen steadied his feet and created a shield to block Theo’s power.

Theo then pulled two dice from his coat. He launched them in the air. One di rolled a 1 and the other rolled a 6.

One spear soldier and six archer goblins appeared preventing Flen from closing in on Theo.

One of the archers shot an arrow and it hit Flen’s arm. He felt the burning sensation and pain. He knocked the goblin over with his kick.

Poof Poof they disappeared. The small army Theo was building was made of dust.

Flen flicked his fingers full of dust particles spreading the air.

Pim slowly opened his eyes and used his third eye to awaken Scarlet. There was a transfer of green energy flowing from his eye to Scarlet’s body.

She groaned, “Oh my head.” She looked at Pim and then her surroundings.

“Where’s everyone?” Pim could not answer, but he whimpered, signaling her to follow him.

Pim led Scarlet to the hidden place where Theo used to take him out in the area to play. It was Theo’s secret place where he can escape all of responsibilities and just meditate.

Scarlet saw all of the talismans on the wall.

Would it be okay if I come in?

Pim scurried forward with his little hooves confidently without any issues.

Pitter Patter

He egged her on, “Woo, woo.”

Scarlet smiled at Pim. She slowly tip toed into the building. She sighed a breath of relief, once she was able to go through without setting off any alarms.

She could see Theo in confrontation with a masked person.

“Theo!”

"There's commotions where Theo is at."
The Cosmocrats reported, “Let’s head back.”

Pim ran in front of Theo acting as a shield.

I have never seen Pim look so angry before. Theo’s right, he really is protective of his owner.

Flen hesitated, he did not want to hurt Pim.

There were plentiful noises from the large crowd. The sounds were approaching louder and louder.

Flen was contemplating on what to do.

Theo looked at Flen, "There's a hidden back door you can go through, they won't see you. After seeing the mass crowd coming back, Flen went. He stared at Scarlet for a second.

Then he rushed out to the back door without missing a beat.

Why is Theo helping this cloaked masked person?

Scarlet felt a strike at her head. It was painful.

Everything was black and she felt like she was falling into an endless swirling tornado.

Her hands twitched, she felt the softness of fabric between her fingertips. Her body was cushioned around pillows.

She woke up to find herself in a luxurious bed with the bed canopy draped over. The room smelled like honey. It was almost as if she could taste it.
