Chapter 44:

Time Chaplet's Effects

Blades of the Shattered Chaplets: 3rd Novel

Welpen watched as everyone around him froze. The number 5 in the sky counted down before his very eyes. He was confused, and tried to get help. He turned around to see Saikou still able to move. He jumped for joy and hugged him, but Ryoko couldn’t move a muscle.

Welpen: “What is going on?! Clara! Is Clara okay? Did something happen?”

A figure walked up to them, masked by a green cape and hood, walking slowly. Neither of them had any idea who this was, but his outlined body definitely showed that it was a man. Coming closer, they could see he was older, but still seemed young for some reason.

Although, his appearance certainly did not show this. His white beard sat nicely on his face along with his white hair that was thinning. His eyes were a pure green as he took over the hood over his face and stared at Welpen. He dropped everything he had on him including his sword and chaplets. None of them were serious chaplets that could harm them, but he wanted to make sure that Welpen was trustful of him.

Saikou stepped in front ready to fight the man, but Welpen shook him off, knowing that this person came to him for a reason.

Welpen: “Wh-Who are you?”

???: “I came here for your help, Welpen. I haven’t been in this world for long, but I made my choice when I got here. My name is Goro Retsu, son of Dante Restu and I need you, Welpen Agatsuma.”

Welpen didn’t know what was going on or who this man was. ‘He needs my help?’ he thought. ‘What could I possibly do? Why didn’t he ask a Great Swordsman? Why me?’

Welpen: “Ummm, sorry, but do I know you?”

A golden light shone down from above where Michiaki held his sword at the man’s throat.

Michiaki: “Why did you do this? Who are you?”

Goro: “I heard the rumors, but you’re a very hard man to get to. I figured I would get your attention this way though, Michiaki Sen. My name is Goro Retsu, son of Dante Retsu. I am not from this world.”

Michiaki: “Goro Retsu? You’re the son of the man I just fought?”

Goro: “You fought my father? I see. Did you kill him?”

Michiaki: “Yeah. I’m sorry. I didn’t have a choice, but he’s not technically gone.”

Goro: “That’s okay. I know.”

Michiaki: “You took that a lot easier than I expected you to.”

Goro: “It’s because he’s not dead. I’ve been tracking him with multiple people’s help since I got teleported here. That sword houses whoever that man is that took over my father. I went to the Infinite Library just for that main reason and that man cannot die unless that sword is banished to the Devil’s Realm. Only he can break that completely. You didn’t completely kill that man or my father. Both of them are still there. Even if you go back and break it, it won’t matter. I’m sure you know this though.”

Michiaki: “Interesting. Well, we got another problem on our hands then. The Dead Realm is going to revive with the Time God. I’m not going to explain, but trust me when I say that this world will be destroyed in less than 6 years now. Not sure how you found the Time Chaplet in such a short time, but that’s the only thing that saved my ass.”

Goro: “I obtained much information from the people that trusted and helped me along the way. Most of them have perished, but my goal remains the same…To bring my dad and I back to our the world.”

Michiaki: “A martyr at its finest. Quite a choice to make at such a young age. How many Growth Chaplets did you use to get to your age? You must have gotten really lucky.”

Goro: “I did find a lot, but I also realized the effects of the Luck Chaplet. Any time I used a chaplet, I would use a Luck Chaplet along with it to boost its effects.”

Michiaki: “Yeah, not many people know you can do that. Good on you for testing that out. Usually though, it doesn’t make much of a difference with most of the chaplets. However, you used it on one that not a lot of individuals use. Nobody wants to grow older.”

Goro: “Well, it’s the only thing I could do to boost my mana and not fight in a kid’s body. I kept going until I was old enough where people wouldn’t try to fight me and I looked docile, even though my body still feels young.”

Welpen and Saikou sat there confused about all these terms that were being tossed around. They had no idea what any of this meant, but continued to listen.

Michiaki: “So, you have knowledge of the realms. What’s your grand plan to stop the Time God from reviving in the Dead Realm? The Time Horse died. I don’t care what it is, but I’m moving to a different world with my family. The effects will go away once I take them. That is, unless the Time God threatens me. Only then will I kill him.”

Goro: “You misunderstand. I had no idea that you were even fighting my father, nor did I know about the Time Horse. Yes, I knew of the Dead Realm and the Time God, but that was not my goal.”

Michiaki: “Then, why did you use the Time Chaplet and stop this world?”

Goro: “I used multiple Luck Chaplets combined to see how many years I could get for this kid right here, Welpen Agatsuma. It looks like 5 was the best I could do. It just so happened that all these coincidences aligned as I activated it. The real reason I activated it was to stop the entity that will change the path for Welpen here. The Wandering Corpse.”

Michiaki: “What the hell is that? Wandering Corpse?”

Goro: “I don’t know where it came from or how it’s here, but it is a being that cannot be stopped. It has been heading for the Dark Mold this entire time and once it reaches it, this world will be destroyed by this kid right here. He will become the new ruler of the Dark Mold, a being more powerful than that thing that took my father and even you, Michiaki Sen. As much as I wanted to get my father back, I had to deal with this first, or else everything would have perished.”

Michiaki: “That makes no sense. A random entity is going to cause Clara’s kid to become the ruler of the Dark Mold? There have been no records ever of the Dark Mold coming after this world. I have much knowledge, but this is not what I know.”

Goro: “Believe me or not, the Great Sovereign gave me this information. It even showed me an image of the past where the Dark Mold has been trying to interfere with this world for some time now. A woman picked up a Teddy Bear that they created encased with the Dark Mold’s substance. You are the strongest person in this world, Michiaki Sen. I know you will believe me.”

Michiaki: “Yeah, I believe you. So this creature is inches away from the Dark Mold, and when he enters, this world will cease to exist?”

Goro: “Yeah, and they won’t stop till all the worlds are defeated and nothing is left, or so, that is the rumor.”

Michiaki sighed out loud knowing that would mean he had to fight even more. He couldn’t take his family to the World of White. They would just follow there. It would only delay the results.

Welpen: “Umm, what’s this about me becoming what?”

Michaiki: “Welpen, good to meet you. My name is Michiaki Sen. I’m a friend of your mother.”

Welpen: “Oh? Clara?! Where is she? Is she okay?”

Michiaki: “Yeah, she’s fine. She’s just stranded like all of these people.”

Welpen: “Good! Wait, not good! She can’t move? Aghh! I knew I should’ve gone with her to Deceased Paradise.”

Michiaki: “Goro, what’s your plan then? What do you intend to do?”

Goro: “According to the Great Sovereign, if one collects all 70 chaplets, then they are granted one wish regardless of what it is. I can stop all this from happening and you can then help me get my father back. Do we have a deal?”

Michiaki: “Bad news. You’re not going to find all 70 chaplets. The Great Swordsmen were tasked with that a few years ago and we couldn’t even do it with our combined efforts. The most we got was 62.”

Goro: “I know. I figured as much. That’s why I have another idea. Moonshadow Village’s scripts. They may show us another way to win this. Come, follow me.”
