Chapter 44:
A Game Of Magical Chairs
Two figures sat opposite each other, enjoying some tea and snacks.
“So that’s what happened,” Kei said, ending his story. The person on the other side nodded.
“She went through a lot, didn’t she?”
“Yep.”
“Still, I never expected the chair I made to be that important.”
“Will you still be making chairs if given the chance?”
She shook her head. “Probably not.”
“I figured. There’s a time for everything, right?”
“Right.” She took a sip from her cup, enjoying the refreshing taste of her warm tea. It was a tea unlike any other. Not something found in the mortal world. “How's she doing nowadays?”
“Do you want to know?” Kei teased.
“Of course.”
“For one, she's married to him.”
She widened her eyes. “Wait wait wait, really? That’s surprising. I wish them a happy family.”
“I’ll tell her your wish.” Kei nodded to herself. “Well, they already have that even without your wish. Oh, I came to see their children. They looked adorable.”
She gasped. “Really? Just how many years have passed?”
“The gap? There’s a couple.”
“I… I can’t believe they’ve reached their far.”
Kei giggled. “Well, a lot of things happened before that point. A whole lot of time spent together, a lot of time getting closer. I would love to tell you, but I’ll run out of time if I recall all of that, so let’s save it for another time, yeah?”
“That’s unfortunate, but you’re busy, so not surprising.”
“Yes,” Kei smirked. “But, how about I leave you with this?”
She winced. “You’re going to make me curious.”
“That way, you’ll look forward to the rest of the story.”
“Fine, fine. Tell me, quick.”
“It took them a year after they got married before they did the deed. Can you believe that?”
“Really? Why?”
“She's too embarrassed to do it.”
The two laughed. If Leyla were there with them, she would certainly be angry at Kei for talking about it.
“I guess that's just the kind of person she is. My sister.”
“Whoops. Time’s up. I have to return.” Kei stood up.
“You’re really going to leave me with that?”
“Look forward to our next meeting.” Kei waved her hand and disappeared.
The girl smiled. “Oh, Leyla, and you said you wouldn’t turn into me.”
She stood up, turned around, and left.
